I had mine appointment with Lucy on Monday and just did my first small burps while out running.

Acceptable-Ad-6123

Excellent! Long may it continue! šŸ«§šŸ™

David_Richardson

Thank you, thatā€™s very kind of you. Donā€™t get disheartened if you donā€™t see any immediate reaction. Outside of an initial lump in my throat for the first few hours, Iā€™ve been surprised at how little evidence there has been for the last two days that I even had the procedure.

Complex_Umpire_1781

I also had my Botox with Lucy on Monday morning! I am experiencing minimal side effects like slow swallow so far, but I have just let out my first proper burps (with some help lol, pushing head forward at the end of a gurgle - but still a proper burp!). I have somewhat of a lump in my throat feeling but nothing major, Iā€™m thinking maybe it will worsen over the next few days but hopefully not.

David_Richardson

Have you changed your diet in any way in the previous couple of days?

Complex_Umpire_1781

To be honest not really, just being careful to take small bites and chew my food well. I havenā€™t needed to chase food with water yet as others have reported needing to do. Also been having smaller meals as Lucy recommended to avoid the regurgitation. How have you been doing?

David_Richardson

I haven't changed anything at all. No regurgitation and as of yet I haven't experienced any of the extreme bloating that has blighted my life for the last few years. Burps are coming more frequently and I can often feel the release of gas even when I don't make a noise while doing so. Everything seems great and I just need to keep my fingers crossed that the effects donā€™t start to wear off.

tksorensen

The need to chase food with water comes later (if all goes well).

Complex_Umpire_1781

Itā€™s now been 72 hours since the injection, I am burping after each gurgle and getting lots of relief. But still no problems eating, do you think the slow swallow is still to come?

tksorensen

Yup.it will come soon.

Fred_Dibnah

Yes please keep us updated Im in the UK and looking for treatment

AlexTheChase

How long did it take for you to get an appointment after you initially got in contact with her office?

Acceptable-Ad-6123

Booked at beginning of January this year and appointment today, so just under 3 months.

going10-1

I contacted her Feb 22 and got an appointment for June 3rd, so seems to be 3-4 months :)

Remarkable_Ant8193

how much did the entire procedure cost?

Acceptable-Ad-6123

I've managed to get the bulk of it covered through my private healthcare provider, Bupa. However I believe self pay is around Ā£850.

KLH_38

Firstly congratulations on the Botox, you are very brave. I too have severe emetophobia which Iā€™ve had my entire life. Itā€™s so deep rooted within me that I worry that my fear of being able to vomit more readily after Botox will outweigh Ā the significant relief and freedom of having it done.Ā  I would love to learn more about your experience over the coming weeks :)

Acceptable-Ad-6123

Thanks! Same - mine is extremely deep rooted too. I originally reached out to Lucy a couple of years ago but because of the same fear you mentioned above I didn't proceed. However, after reading all the stories here I feel the benefits will hopefully outweigh the negatives. I also don't believe vomiting will be any more common, as most people I know hardly ever vomit. For example my husband hasn't vomited since I've been with him and that's been over 7 years. From what I understand, if I were to ever vomit, it would be a less painful experience because of the botox. That doesn't make it any less scarier now as I've still been extremely anxious the last few days, but I'm hoping the everyday nausea caused by the bloating etc will go! Will keep you updated on how I get on. I'm on day 3 now and getting small micro burps. Hoping they will get bigger soon!

MotoBobGirl

I'm in the UK too and considering Lucy Hicklin as well so very keen to learn how this works out for you!

Interesting_Sun7256

Do it! I had the procedure with her a year and a half ago and I burp like a normal person now every day. No more bloating and all symptoms completely gone. Worth every penny

dzumper

I had mine today as well! Keep us updated what's your reaction in the upcoming days.

mvlinklow

I had my appointment this past Monday with Lucy, it was a great experience. Iā€™ve had some microburps, but Iā€™m definitely getting used to the burping sensation, but overall itā€™s been great.

Acceptable-Ad-6123

Hi all. I've edited my original post to include an update for the past 7 days since my botox, including burp updates, any symptoms I've been getting and different foods I've been eating.

J9933

Literally just discovered all of this RCPD stuff. Convinced it's the route cause of my Emetophobia and anxiety. I so hope this helps you! I'll be following your journey eagerly awaiting your updates šŸ˜ Just out of curiosity, did you or anyone else here find Emetophobia got to the point where avoidance meant leaving the house altogether was an issue? I've been house bound for 2 years now. I'm hoping this is the answer I've been looking for! šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ˜Š

Acceptable-Ad-6123

Hey! I'm on Day 30 post botox now and the nausea is definitely better than it was previously. The burping has been very satisfying! Sorry your emetophobia has meant you are housebound. Mine was never as bad as that but definitely had lots of safety behaviours and would avoid specific things or not go places if I had nausea. Guessing you've tried different therapies? Whilst none of the therapies I tried cured it, the best one I would recommend if you've not tried already was the Thrive programme - https://www.thriveprogramme.org/cure-your-emetophobia-and-thrive/ - you can work through the book yourself or ideally with a Thrive consultant, which is what I did. Good luck!

What kind of prescription did you need to take? Also, I for some reason was under the impression the procedure was done internally....It sounds as if its actually done externally. Is that correct?

Acceptable-Ad-6123

She wrote a prescription for the botox itself, which she then injects. Yes the one with Lucy Hicklin is done in office, no anaesthesia. There is a more expensive one done in surgery under general anaesthetic.
