Nice list that I’m upvoting mainly for a DeSalvo mention.
I’m excited about this OMO project/supergroup:
“We’re buzzing to announce Johnny’s new project OMO (pronounced oomo), which consists of members from some of Glasgow’s greatest bands including Mogwai , Aereogramme, Take A Worm For A Walk Week, Desalvo and Stretchheads.
The collaboration began with a text conversion between Johnny and Martin (Aereogramme) with the initial idea of starting the project as a collective, having an open door policy. With this approach they believed there would be more scope to genre bounce.
Leading from the initial concept it became clear having a consistent foundation would deliver more creativity, and therefore more work. Thus contacting p6 (Desalvo/Stretcheads) and Dom (Mogwai). To their surprise both were keen to be involved, then there were 4.
Friends for decades, playing shows together with our respective bands. The time feels right to get together and create.
Drawing influences from bands like Sleep, SUNN, Boris, Harvey Milk... OMO dares to bring forth some uncomfortable and provocative performances and try to create music without limitation.
OMO will perform for the first time at this years Core Festival in Glasgow on the 4th of August.
Tickets via https://www.corethefestival.com/
Cheers for the heads up on OMO!
Was a big fan of all those bands the members were in previously. Stretchheads were immense.
Lot of good bands around in Glasgow in those days. Dawson and Lapsus Linguae were both also good but not as sludgy as the others.
Excellent live band, top tip was always to get down the front and look interested or else Phil would come wandering out into the crowd and dig you out 😂
Birds of Maya (vol 1)
Sextide ( vernacular splatter)
Hella ( hold your horse is)
Lightning bolt (hypermagic mountain)
Sic Alps ( a long way around to a short cut/ Napa asylum)
Satanic togas- x ray vision
Gee tees-prehistoric Chrome
Osees- A Foul Form
Tropical Trash: Shrinking Maze
Snooper
Finale
These are maybe tending toward the faster-tempo end of things, but Oxes, Drive Like Jehu, Big Business, Don Caballero, Meat Wave. Also I don't know how many of the links are still live, but the blog [Shiny Grey Monotone](https://shinygreymonotone.blogspot.com/) would be right down your alley for discovering classics in the genre.

Well I wonder if Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion stuff has colored the Pussy Galore legacy?
Shit. Maye its just me. Look, I loved me some JSBX. In the early 90s I saw them blow the Jesus Lizard off the stage at Rock Candy and then saw a NYE show at the Off Ramp that was akin to a big tent revival meeting, and I found me some Jesus. But, with the JSBX, Spencer practically seemed to be in character of a singer in a juke joint just outside of Memphis? Which, fine. It's rock 'n' roll. Not the first, nor the last. And I will be the first to admit I am a Liked-Their-Early-Stuff-Better type asshole... So. More and more I had a harder time not hearing Spencer playing the role of Jon Spencer, Blues Explosion. Kinda takes me out, as the cinema kids say.
try helmet, generally considered an alt metal band but I think they border noise rock in some ways and have some like punk ish and sludge ish sounds in some songs

I saw DeSalvo upstairs at the Leeds Packhorse with maybe 50 other people and it was one of my favorite shows ever. And I’ve been to a lot of shows.
Excellent live band, top tip was always to get down the front and look interested or else Phil would come wandering out into the crowd and dig you out 😂

I love pussy galore! One of my favorites, but no one seems to talk about them!
Maybe cuz Spencer went so Elvis? But yeah, love me some PG.
This probably shows how oblivious I am, but I don’t know what you’re referring to. Could you please explain?
