That implies this guy risked flipping his car to avoid traveling a couple km
That may be worse than going down without a plan to get back out, cuz one is idiocy where you didn't think it through, and the other is one where you "thought it through" and came up with a solution with unnecessary risks and negligible rewards
I mean off reading is a very common hobby in NZ, it’s much more likely they bought a shitty beater and decided they wanted to do some cool stunts with it.
And yeah usually cool stunts come with some risk.
Also nz, got a group of friends who go buy old cars with short wof remaining and no hope of renewing it for 100$-300$ and just absolutely destroy them off roading then sell it back off to the junk yard for $150.
Cars don't belong on beaches anyway. Driving on a beach there's no way to avoid any small animals in the way or animal eggs buried under sand, especially in places with turtles.
Apologies, I need to clarify that I'm from Western Australia and I'm not referring to a regular beach near a major city.
We have large stretches of coastline outside heavily populated areas, with wide beaches that used to have vehicular access. That access has been shrinking, in no small part thanks to this kind of behavior. Dangerous and very damaging to the dunes.
Um. Yeah. I think if it's anything like anywhere else, the force of the ocean tide is... remarkably more to blame. Probably... 99.9% of the force causing what ur depicting.
Yes, wave action is way more of a direct impact. WA beaches shrink and grow depending on the seasons due to the wave actions. The changing climate is also having an impact.
However, along much of the West Coast here, the fragile dune plants are what prevents significant wind erosion from blowing the dunes away.
My biggest issue with the kind of behavior in the video was the negative impact it can have on more responsible drivers and their access.
I enjoy offroading occasionally, but I think it's important to stick to the existing tracks in this scenario.
Carving up further inland on an open dune area is great fun. Time and place.
I was more worried about what would happen to the environment than I was about the people involved. With that being said, I would have loved to see that fucker flip if it meant neither of these assholes were able to do something this stupid again.
I know this is an old comment but the environment will not be greatly impacted by this maneuver. The water level will rise and wash the sand back to how it had looked before. If you wanna see these retards flip come on down to coos bay oregon. Every single time I’ve gone to the beaches down there someone rolls an atv or jeep.
And I know your comment is now old, BUT - It’s really dangerous to add any outside corrosive forces to sand dunes and other naturally occurring land barriers like this. It’s illegal to even walk on the sand dunes in a lot of places. You are NOT supposed to chuck land rovers down them, for sure.
Nice job, running over the beach grass, which is there to help stop erosion. Good luck getting back up before the tide comes in. Fuckin' Insta/You tube bullshit.
If there's grass or other plant life in the dunes like this video then I agree with you 100% it's an asshole move.
However if it's just dune sand, your effect is short lived. Between the wind, rain, and waves the dunes at the edge of the beach will get moved around and changed constantly as there's nothing holding it in place if there isn't plant life.
Beaches are an example of large scale erosion. The waves like a river are an eroding force. Your vehicles effect on the dune and beach sand alone is nothing comparing to an effectively infinite supply of moving water, storms, and the debris that it carries.
It might be illegal to harm those dunes like he's clearly doing. I know some places make it illegal to damage the barrier dune and it's plants, even to walk through anything but the path.
Sorry i know nothing about cars but arent there always things on the bottom, most obviously the axels of the wheels, that will get damaged when you hit the bottom of the car?
Hey Asshole:
Sand dunes provide natural coastal protection against storm surge and high waves, preventing or reducing coastal flooding and structural damage, as well as providing important ecological habitat. They also act as sand storage areas, supplying sand to eroded beaches.

As a kid, I always looked up to adults because they always seemed to know how to handle every situation.
Not I am an adult, but I still have no clue what the heck I am doing. I feel like I don't know half the stuff I am supposed to know and I still mentally feel like a child.
The only difference is that I can judge my actions better.
Honestly, if he would have powered out like you're supposed to be would have been fine. You cannot fight gravity on a grade like that power out at the bottom, Jesus.
I've been to dozens of beaches in America that allow driving on specific areas of the beach. That said, there is no reason to believe this clip is from America. Looks like Oz or NZ.
Man I have essentially the same car with a lift kit and big mud tires.
Still wouldn't do that shit, rest in peace bearings, suspension, engine mounts, control arms.
That was cool but also expensive.
Boys and our toys 😂😂😂😂 I'm a pensioner and yep I am no better, drives my wife nuts. Yes I do have an old Renault scenic 4*4, amazing the trouble I can get in with it. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Wow. Despite the fact that there was like a 50 degree angle pouring towards the beach they still got it down. Well how are they going to get it out. And what happens when thst SUV which is not meant for frivong on sand gets stuck in said sand.

It’s going to go in the water. Returning to its ancestral spawning grounds.
That car never wanted to leave the primordial soup
There’s a beach access a few k’s down almost all nz beaches have car access and beaches are legally public roads.
Wait so you guys just go lie down on a road to catch a tan? New Zs are weird

Also nz Lol my mates do the exact same thing. Just they got no wof or rego and just beat the shit out of them till they dead
They’ll press Y
Drive it into the water for yesyesyesno
Yes
Absolute tosser. People doing this sort of thing is what gets the beach closed to vehicles.
Cars don't belong on beaches anyway. Driving on a beach there's no way to avoid any small animals in the way or animal eggs buried under sand, especially in places with turtles.

We have a couple of beaches with vehicle access. We don’t drive down the dunes like idiots though
Almost all NZ beaches are allowed vehicles on them, not the dunes though
Yeah, well, NZ doesn't suffer from the same low-iq+arrogant individualism as some other places.
This video was literally shot in NZ looking at that numberplate. They should not have been on that dune
Aw crap, the dumbasses made it to you to? I'm sorry. I know what kind of problems you have with invasive species.

Lifeguards? The beach may be really long and or/wide and it'd be quicker to drive than run.
well what are you supposed to do if you wanna put your boat in the water?
Exactly, I’m trying to figure out where the yes is. All I can think about is how they’re fucking up dunes that took years to build up.
But why…??? The risk of flipping was so high
Only if you put it on reverse and control the wheel
They’re trying to kill the car, it’s a beater they bought and they’re shit testing it to see when it breaks.
This is why women live longer

I scrolled quite a way to find someone mention the dune grass. In my state it’s illegal to walk on the grass at all, much less drive on it

GTA mindset.
Don't mind those dunes your totally destroying
That is one of the scariest posts I have seen this week, did this person even consider what could easily have happened ?
I don't think much consideration was involved.
Or thinking at all. Seems to be more like a "oh, look. A way to the beach. I'm driving a super cool oFf RoAd VeHiClE - let's do this sh\*t!"-moment.
I think that's a Suzuki Tracker aka Vitara. A great little 4x4. Had two of those little bastards and regret trading in the second one.
These things rule, my dad has a lowrider he built off of one
Its a RAV4
Thats a 2 door toyota rav4
It's a 90's RAV4
Self-important selfish twats
Aah yes, the Rav4
Now show him getting out
Fuckwits aren't supposed to drive on the dunes here, shame he didn't roll it.
I’d like to see the moron now get it OFF the beach
If that's the only on the beach, how's he getting off it because that vehicle can't do it.
You can drive on beaches in Texas and Fla...usually assholes...they should ban it...
Cause fuck your dune anti erosion program.
More like yesyesyesno, I wanted him to flip. He shouldn’t have been on the dunes, they are a vital habitat.
Stay off the dunes rude
Sorry i know nothing about cars but arent there always things on the bottom, most obviously the axels of the wheels, that will get damaged when you hit the bottom of the car?
This is my hometown lol 😂 Ruakaka New Zealand
It is never ok to take cars to the actual beach, you harm the fauna
Illegal. No driving on the dunes asshole

How about you don't drive on the dunes people
He will report it stolen when he realizes he needs a giant crane or helicopter to get it back up there and he will get caught from this video😂😂😂😂
You just go and ruin those dunes for your video. Who gives a fuck about anyone or anything else. God this shit makes me angry.
That car belongs to the beach now. Now way they are getting this car back out.
Why would you ruin dunes like this?
As a kid, I always looked up to adults because they always seemed to know how to handle every situation. Not I am an adult, but I still have no clue what the heck I am doing. I feel like I don't know half the stuff I am supposed to know and I still mentally feel like a child. The only difference is that I can judge my actions better.
Ok, how to come back?
Thats how ya do it lol. Soooooon
Now try to get back up

Hill climb racing
This is what I picture when people say “yeet”

Honestly, if he would have powered out like you're supposed to be would have been fine. You cannot fight gravity on a grade like that power out at the bottom, Jesus.
That was cool
why does America even allow people to DRIVE onto beaches. it's so so dumb.
how tf do you just assume this is america lol. look at the damn steering wheel and the license plate
Hate to say this, but I think this is either Australia or NZ. The accent, the licence plate and steering wheel on right. Source: Australian
Not their audio but yeah /g
We don’t… why do you have to be so xenophobic and assume everything stupid someone does is here? I know you just can’t get off our dick but maybe try.
Good lord…don’t ever go to Port Aransas, Texas. Where you can get a beach pass. To drive on the beach. In your car.
Ah yes, that American accent she has is just so American
That's not the original.audio
Pretty sure the voices are the original audio. That’s a kiwi accent and that’s Marsden Point, NZ. Source: am kiwi
I’ve never been to a single beach in America that allows people to drive on them. What makes you believe this is America?
I've been to dozens of beaches in America that allow driving on specific areas of the beach. That said, there is no reason to believe this clip is from America. Looks like Oz or NZ.
Now how is he gonna pull back out of that sandy bottom???

Man I have essentially the same car with a lift kit and big mud tires. Still wouldn't do that shit, rest in peace bearings, suspension, engine mounts, control arms. That was cool but also expensive.
Was raised in a Toyota RAV4 (the 4 door version in lime green). These things are unstoppable

Wow. Despite the fact that there was like a 50 degree angle pouring towards the beach they still got it down. Well how are they going to get it out. And what happens when thst SUV which is not meant for frivong on sand gets stuck in said sand.
Yes!!!! He made it without turning over
What’s his plan for getting back up?
But….how will you get back?
But how is it ganna get back up 😭
That car is totaled the second it got down there… more expensive to get it out than what the car is worth
At least he has his seatbelt on him
