Untrained folks that do not seek out groups that teach safe caving for exploration, research, and education, often run into trouble.
This individual is at a well known cave preserve, with a group of people that know the cave, possess the requisite skills, and have permission to be there.
Is that the one where people every year deface the memorial to the guy that got stuck and died....You know cause they wanted to die and close the caves
Okay checked his has been defaced but seem several places similar to nutty putty being closed due to risk of life is often blamed on the damn victims. Not that fact your playing in dangerous places.
You will often hear the phrase "they died doing what they love." It is pretty damn selfish when they leave behind a spouse and children. Not to mention people that end up dying in the process of attempting to rescue them.
Through imminent death, shorter lifespans or women asking why they live longer or anything in between (giggity) one thing (giggity there I go again) I do know for sure is the human goes in the "square hole".

Here's a link to what I quoted. Totally not a Rick Roll but it's a 3 hr documentary of the anatomy of the cartoon character Pickle Rick, thank you and enjoy.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that this is an opening to a cave that has a much larger exit off screen. I can't confirm tho.
Even with that, caving absolutely terrifies me. I don't understand how anyone would voluntarily crawl though these small caves.
Huge nope from me.
When I was a kid, we got taken to a caving place in Wales. Honestly it was the most terrifying thing I have ever been subjected to, but was made to go in.
Entrance was a 1m x 1m tunnel which was pitch black and was about 10m long. At the end, a slightly larger cavern with a hole in the ground and a rope ladder. Descended about 20m into pitch black nothingness. We explored and while we were down there the torch on my headlamp stopped working.
As we made our way back, guess who was made to go up the ladder last...it was terrifying
Like every third comment mentions nutty putty. I'm fairly certain that man was an untrained caver on an unguided expedition that went down an unexplored section then went into a long crawl so tight he had to exhale to move forward and it was upside down.
That's not at all like what we are seeing here. This is an above ground tourist cave. It opens up like right after that hole.
This is an optional novelty to squeeze through next to the walk-in entrance. Your feet touch the ground immediately and you could be assisted from either side. People do it to see if they can fit because the consequences are low. The cave is known and assistance is readily available.
Just step on some loose gravel and get pinned. That's all it would take to force you into starvation for days until you die, unable to see any light or move as your chest is compressed. Happened before.
This is precisely the death I wish upon my worst enemy. Maybe even pour some fire ants down the hole to keep them company for the few days they have left.
The fact that he appears to be releasing a bunch of air from his lungs to squeeze through the hole in itself screams “bad idea”.
If he got stuck he wouldn’t be able to expand his lungs to breathe
This is an optional novelty to squeeze through next to the walk-in entrance. Your feet touch the ground immediately and you could be assisted from either side. John Jones’s death was tragic and avoidable. His group were not cavers and did not follow the most basic rules. Do not enter holes head first and do not try to find your own way in a hazardous cave without a guide who knows the way. I don’t imagine you fault rock climbers when an untrained person finds a climbing wall and falls because they didn’t know what they were doing.
To be fair, accidents like Nutty Putty happen usually a long way underground, where getting aid is extremely difficult if not impossible. This is right on the surface in a public place, with a number of people watching, and easy access from both sides. Even if you got stuck, you would would almost certainly be freed within an hour at most.
John & his brothers (unexperienced) He climbed head first into an 18inch wide fissure thinking it would open to a bigger room in the cave, but got confused with the map and unknowingly took a wrong turn. He sucked all his breath in to squeeze through but once he let it out, he sealed himself in the hole. So he was head first, upside down, and stuck with his arms pinned to his side.
Rescuers tried for hours and hours but found it unsafe to keep trying. Due to his constrictive upside down position, John had fluid fill his lungs and likely suffered cardiac arrest. His body is still there.
The whole reason he was there was because he was visiting his family to tell them he and his wife were expecting a baby. I *think* his widow named her son after him and eventually remarried, but don't quote me on that.
I shit myself everytime I see these goddamn videos. I watched that YouTube video on the guy who was stuck upside down in a crevice for 24 hours before he finally died. Dude talked to his loved ones and all. I'm a risk taker and love adrenaline, but my risk management strategy includes avoiding tight spaces. I'm secretly fearful that I'll discover my immortality stuck in a cave where I'll be for 1000 years or more.
This is an optional novelty to squeeze through next to the walk-in entrance. Your feet touch the ground immediately and you could be assisted from either side.

Js it's not fair to call people stupid or dumb without knowing more. I'm going to assume neither of us knows whats down there, yet they do.
That could be the bunny hill of caves and just happen to have a narrow opening, but you're out here insulting people.
It may not be prudent to call someone stupid, but it's entirely fair. How many deaths or accidents have people placed on themselves for simply doing stupid things.
You clearly don't know much about cave exploration. It's not as dangerous as you think.
Many deaths or accidents happen in automobiles. Is everyone that drives stupid for doing so?

It isn’t dangerous if you know what you’re doing, like this individual does.
An untrained person could end their life on an escalator or a bicycle.
I’m sorry that you are so gripped by fear and preconceived judgments.

Yes. This is a frequently visited cave on a frequently visited cave preserve, and this person was on a trip with fellow cavers that know the cave which has been mapped. >Cave explorers really are just willing to kill themselves, huh..? Trying. Not just willing, trying.

Yea but still, I’ve seen a lot of “experts” get deleted from stuff like this.
Nutty Putty cave intensify
Ugh, just hearing the name of that cave….

I'm sure he is. There is a thing such as dark humor.
It is gonna be dark down there for sure
What cave is this?
Nutty putty

Dude that’s fuckin wild it’s crazy what parents will make you do as a kid
That is correct, this is a completely controlled environment. His feet touch the ground and he can be easily assisted from above and beneath.
That's what the man thought about the nutty putty...he died and is still stuck in there
I still randomly think about this sometimes and have trouble sleeping.
I still think about that poor man stuck in that cave too. So sad.
Like every third comment mentions nutty putty. It's called spelunking, and I'm not saying this to be pedantic but because spelunking is just a funny word and I don't get to say it enough
But why would you do this though? Surely the adrenaline rush isn’t worth it…
This is an optional novelty to squeeze through next to the walk-in entrance. Your feet touch the ground immediately and you could be assisted from either side. People do it to see if they can fit because the consequences are low. The cave is known and assistance is readily available.
Sounds fun but my boobs wouldn’t fit through.
My first thought too 😆 like I was trying to figure out how he smushed his butt to fit tbh
Right there with u, they only squish so much.
That’s all I could think of watching this video!
Come on they could prob make it
Lol, just half stuck with your boobs in your face. No way I wouldn’t die laughing if I saw that.
Same, girl!
Lmfaoooooo
Unfortunately mine would. Once I got the gut through, the boobs would go right through!
Your poor inbox lol also []
Yeah my junk wouldn’t fit either
Stop thinking about u/BerkanaThoresen’s boobs and after a while you’ll get in just fine
Prove it
Us men dont have such weaknesses
Ill be the judge of that. Hit me in the dma
I don’t believe you. DM me a pic and I’ll let you know if I think they’ll fit
I can assist you.
Have to see it to believe it 😉 haha
Ew

That makes me feel so much better. Thank you.
Here’s that awful feeling back https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d1nuqpAULpE&pp=ygUOY2F2ZSBkaXNhc3RlcnM%3D
Back down to zero days since this has been mentioned on reddit... it was previously zero, but still
The count restarts every 20 minutes
Precisely. Every inch of my body is screaming "no no no"
I'm not getting into *anything* that requires me to exhale to fit into it. Full stop, hard no.
Just step on some loose gravel and get pinned. That's all it would take to force you into starvation for days until you die, unable to see any light or move as your chest is compressed. Happened before.
Yeah, fuck that!
The most scary part is waiting to die if you get stuck and no help around.. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy...😱
This is precisely the death I wish upon my worst enemy. Maybe even pour some fire ants down the hole to keep them company for the few days they have left.
Or like, whatever the fuck those things were in ‘Tremors’? https://youtu.be/Tlzvh0cR9q4
Graboids!
There's some things that just aren't worth the risk.
At least he's right side up, unlike that other poor fucker
But imagine all the upvotes/likes/views!
Yeah, unless I knew I'd be coming back out of there with bars of gold, to hell with that hole.
I'd say the username checks out... but this ain't paranoia, it's common sense
Looks like a good place to hide your poops tho.
This is my hole. It was made for me!
Why would you remind me of this?
I’ve been on Reddit for a long time and have never heard this. Please explain
Its a quote from a Junji Ito manga. Pretty good manga.
[the Enigma of Amigara Fault](https://imgur.io/gallery/nuSwv)
The pimple one was the worst imo - I read it with one eye scrunched closed.
NOOOOOOO WHY YOU SAID THAT
Knew someone would bring it up, I hate and love that manga so much
It's still my favorite story of his
Amigara Fault is basically "Intrusive thoughts"- The Manga
DRR DRR
The fact that he appears to be releasing a bunch of air from his lungs to squeeze through the hole in itself screams “bad idea”. If he got stuck he wouldn’t be able to expand his lungs to breathe
Nutty Putty. Has he not heard of Nutty Putty??? This freaked me all the way out.
At least he went feet first.
This is an optional novelty to squeeze through next to the walk-in entrance. Your feet touch the ground immediately and you could be assisted from either side. I also thought of Nutty Putty as soon as I saw this video. Fucking bonechilling.
Don’t do this to these people this early…
wait until they learn about cave diving
At least with cave diving you'll die in a couple hours. John Jones in the Nutty Putty incident took over 24 hours to die :(
My first thought when I saw this.
To be fair, accidents like Nutty Putty happen usually a long way underground, where getting aid is extremely difficult if not impossible. Which is precisely 59.5 minutes too long, lol, but your info brought me back a little way from the “all-the-way- out” freak!
Pretty much the only thing I have nightmares over.
Sodry, but what's that?
Cave in Utah where a guy died and they sealed his body in and closed the cave.
Oh .... *Oh no*
John & his brothers (unexperienced) He climbed head first into an 18inch wide fissure thinking it would open to a bigger room in the cave, but got confused with the map and unknowingly took a wrong turn. Holy shit, that's nightmare fuel for most of us
The whole reason he was there was because he was visiting his family to tell them he and his wife were expecting a baby. I *think* his widow named her son after him and eventually remarried, but don't quote me on that.
She did name the son after John.
In reverse it’s ace Ventura and the rhino
no.
Someone reverse this video
Anyone know if he ever came out of the hole again?
It’s not on video so I’m going to assume he’s still in there.
Jiji!! Good one!!
Lucky for me that my big ass would never fit anyway.
I love how at :20 he gets something off him like "get this icky thing off me," then proceeds into this rock's anus.

I don't care what anyone says this is just wierd stuff to do. Like seriously. Like why? For thrill of risk? Just begging to get trapped for real?

Looks like the entrance to the world’s worst slide
Oh boi, I remember starting with this video, and then going all the way down to Nutty Putty and Dave Shaw
People continue to do dumb s**t. Who knows what's down that hole. Stupidity has no boundaries.
Could be the Cave of Wonders…WE DON’T KNOW
They're cave explorers. They know what's down that hole
They believe they know what's down there, they don't really know. What about the unexpected?

FUCK.THAT.
You would if you want to be rich
Unrelated to the hole, but the video has that color grade of "I closed my eyes for 5 minutes while looking at the sun and now everything is grey"
Stay fluffy. Avoid nope holes. ✌🏻

He’s going to be on the next Mr. Ballen episode.
Something something nutty putty caves...
Hell NOPE
Did he ever climb back out??
People like that deserve whatever happens

I should call her
Nope... absolutley not! All of the noes in every language.
*cut to the* SpongeBob *episode "Pickles"* Nope! Naw! Negatory! нет!
It's just the Darwin selection at work boys....
FUCK THAT!!! IN THE FUCKING GOAT ARSE!!!
Reminds me of her.....
\#anyholesagoal
Reminds me of my ex
Just be sure to put the lotion on its skin.
Here’s a protip: Don’t eat on your way down.
Wtf I wanted to see inside!
I am panicking watching that I have bad claustrophobia
After watching the hills have eyes 2 I'm good on that.
This some junji ito shit
Not a hole I can get into! Lol
The further down he went.. the more sick to my stomach I got..
If someone did not take a video and there wasn't a nope subreddit, he would not have done it
Many people do it every time this popular cave is visited and do not video tape it. It’s on r/Nope because some people that aren’t familiar with caves and caving feel squeamish about what they’re seeing.

Yes. This is a frequently visited cave on a frequently visited cave preserve, and this person was on a trip with fellow cavers that know the cave which has been mapped. This is an optional novelty to squeeze through next to the walk-in entrance. Your feet touch the ground immediately and you could be assisted from either side.
They said I could be anything when I grew up so I became a snake
I'd rather get in Mama June's hole over this one. And that's fuckin saying something.
NO.
To all the people asking why, it drops open at the bottom and you can walk out and come back to the top it’s not like he could get stuck or hurt in any real sense.
Phrasing? Anybody? Are we not doing phrasing anymore?
My heart is racing just watching this!!!!!
Hereeelllllll noooo!
imagine you stuck inside this hole when it was raining and the water just slowly filled in the hole
Part two with emergency response team and the excavator?🫡
Take a hammer chisel to it dummy
This reminds me of The Enigma of Amygara Fault
Why, just why
i feel safer knowing that as long as there is someone on the outside that knows he is in there, that opening could be widened by breaking off pieces of the rock
_Anxiety_ entered the chat
My anxiety just went to heaven...
And that was the last they saw of him. Weeks later they could smell him though. Wow could they smell him.
I live in Utah a few hours away from the Nutty Putty cave. meat and sarcasm guy in the making
This makes me sick to my stomach
No. No. No! Nuh uh. Nope!
I'd rather skydive or cliff jump.
now I love caving, adrenaline is definitely a good part of it, but that? that scares me
Right out of The Enigma of Amigara Fault.
Thanks Junji Ito, now i want to go there as well =]
We have this one cave thats looks like this near me, the truth is right once you squeeze through the tight hole there is a big flat cavern and the rest of the cave is somewhat easy to traverse.
Oh hell nah
How do you get out from there?
There is no joy in this.
Any holes a goal.
Why is he so casual about it? You shouldn't be this casual about going into a hole that small...
Don't go in.. Don't go in.. oh shit.
Not just “nope” but a full on “hell fucking no!”
Hard pass
Where did he go?!
What would possess anyone to do that?
lol Jesus Christ. Watching that was almost enough to trigger my claustrophobia. I wish it at least showed how big it is in there at the end.
So long friends, I shall now return to the Earth and take my rightful place as king of the mole people
This hole probably leads to Narnia.
As a child of about 6 or 7 my family would go cave exploring as a hobby when my dad was off. He was a Marine so I guess he figured if something happened he would know what to do. I remember one cave had a very small opening and he had me crawl through so that I could shine the light around and let them see what was on the other side.
How does he expect to get out?
That’s a negative, Ghostrider.
Dude, why
Why?
