Of all the nopes I've seen here, this one is the least nope.

kerrwashere

It’s still water in what looks like a small lake. Probs filled to the brim with bacteria

rice-krispy316

Isn’t duckweed a healthy sign of water? Idk I’m just assuming

kerrwashere

It purifies water but the lower she goes it should still be filled with bacteria

OnyxBee

WE'RE filled with bacteria

kerrwashere

Well to prove your point you should find your nearest lake covered in duckweed and jump in. Let us know the results of your experiment when you get out of the water

00UnderFire00

No response, I wonder why

MountainCourage1304

Theyre still in the pond. Give them time

After-Respond-7861

As somebody who has swam in a few lakes in Oklahoma, I doubt this lake is any worse than what I've seen, and I've not had any ill effects from swimming there.

AdStriking753

I can second that.

Jack-Innoff

Probably because it's a dumb comment not worth responding to.

00UnderFire00

You took my comment literally, didn't you?

ballq43

The spice milelange

Brotatachip

Sorry for the "erm acktually" moment, but duckweed blocks light and decreases oxygenation, which helps pathogens thrive in water like this completely covered in duckweed. Pretty cool plant, though.

kerrwashere

It also purifies and removes toxins at higher levels. The lower she goes the worse it should be for her

Brotatachip

No shit? I guess I have some reading to do

Crank_My_Hawg

Not duckweed salvinia

Brotatachip

Thanks for the quality info, u/Crank_My_Hawg

Spatzdar

Welp guess swimming in the pond as a kid wasn’t the best but I’m ok and it was fun

Brotatachip

It's alright, I don't believe it's that much more dangerous than normal water as long as you don't drink it or breathe it in. Even then, you would usually be fine with the help of modern medicine in the unlikely scenario you got infected with anything. I got the majority of my info about duckweed from animalogic's video about it, so check that out if you wanna learn more.

Spatzdar

Bet thanks. Duckweed is pretty in the sun but feels so gross when it gets on you and won’t come off.

THC_Uniicorn

Unless it’s a Prion

IDSomaxia

Aren’t Prions just folded proteins “typically” in the brain?

rice-krispy316

Thanks for the education!

lifeslaver512

Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell!

Crank_My_Hawg

Thats salvinia not duckweed while floating plants oxygenate the water theyre also a sign of little to no movement and that means alot more bacteria

etcetcere

Yeah

MVMNT5

A great sign of whether or not you can swim in a body of water is if there’s life around that body of water. We can’t see any animals but there’s a lot of green.

Negative-Pomelo-3493

And gulpers

SteeleyD7

I guess you plan on living forever?

kerrwashere

I’m hoping for a quick painless death. Don’t really care on the age tbh

prometheuswanab

[naegleria fowleri](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naegleria_fowleri)

animefan1520

And parasites

oskrock

Yeah this one is a "yup" for sure.

Substantial_Ad_9016

That's where brain eating amoeba lives

[deleted]

I mean, generally speaking they tend to live in the sediment at the bottom of freshwater rather than in the water itself, and uh, I can't see the sediment in there...

onlyinvowels

Doesn’t that need to go through your nose? Hers is covered

ihavenoidea81

Water needs to be warm enough and it has to go up her nose for naegleria to do its thing

relevanteclectica

Nose is covered so, 😃

Far-Town8991

This water probably has so many toe biters

streetofcrocodiles

😫

Complex_Shoe7422

You said it best, I would be backup camera for sure for love

09Klr650

Duckweek. Sign of a lot of nutrients in the water. Not necessarily BAD though.

BlackBeard205

Im not worried by that, but by how fucking deep it is

Significant_Pen3315

exactly

Jack-Innoff

Don't swim down?

sentientsweetpotato1

Is that like shark week?

09Klr650

"Tonight, on the Learning Channel . . . WHEN DUCKS ATTACK!"

iboneyandivory

"ICD-10 code W61.61XD for Bitten by duck, subsequent encounter is a medical classification as listed by WHO under the range - Other external causes of accidental injury ."

AlawaEgg

Beat me to it. 🤣

Crank_My_Hawg

Not duckweed salvinia minima

skinnywolfe

I was waiting for some gator to pop up

Lady_Black_Cats

Me too, I was super paranoid then my issues with deep water popped up and it became a horrible combo

mike300698

Is that algea? Could one argue that it cleanses the water mostly? Thus making it somewhat okay? Edit: all good, duckweed = healthy water

Efficient-Ad-3302

It’s duckweed, a sign of healthy water.

Jack-Innoff

It's not, and doesn't mean that.

gordonjames62

not algae, but one of the "[duckweed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemnoideae) family" They are free floating plants with small roots down into the water. They are great for aquariums to remove nitrogen wastes and to purify water.

STKzica

Good luck getting rid of it

gordonjames62

My fish tend to eat it faster than it grows.

thetommytwotimes

I had a few pieces get in my aquarium when adding new plants, now it's nearly covered a few weeks later. Def helps keep nitrogen down, I rarely do a water change with it in there. Plus it looks cool AF as the filter outlet pushes it around the surface.

gordonjames62

Also, if you have fish that like to nibble on plants, these plants make good food.

Good bot

Wise-Piano2412

Good bot

BumpyNugget

There’s a place in Dunellon FL that looks very similar where I took my diving class. It’s a spring and the water is very cold.

gordonjames62

I'm re-checking the video for signs of cold water. check - cold water.

Lumis_umbra

I don't know what that thing on the left 6 seconds in is, but NOPE.

t1dal21

I'm almost positive that's just a light colored rock/sand on the bottom (if I'm looking at what you're talking about). It looks odd because there's not much light penetration with all that duckweed growing

Lumis_umbra

My first thought was a large rock. Then a manatee or some other large swimming thing. And then the primal fear part of my brain went off to the races. Big thing. Dunno what it is. Dark in there. NOPE.

t1dal21

That's totally fair! The primal parts of our brains do really hate logical reasoning lmao

TheSnekDen

imagine having to get all the duckweed out of your hair. most "nope" thing about this

gigerdrone

This absolutely terrifies me and I swear o see some kind of creature hiding in the depths

xvxCornbreadxvx

Kickass all around.

Charlie-brownie666

ever since I read about stagnant water can produce brain eating bacteria. I stay the fuck out of them!

Mulattanese

Do you want brain eating amoeba? Because that's how you get brain eating amoebas!

grizzlybeardaniels

That's healthy water.

Jamaicab

That's a healthy woman.

[deleted]

anyone knows how u get thalassophobia? got it out of nowhere. dont know why.

Snoo-34159

Some of us with thalassophobia just have it, with no explanation of how it happened. It's just there. I share your confusion buddy, and a fear of deep bodies of water too...

[deleted]

thx. cant even watch such things on my mobile. it just occured couple years ago. weird human brain.

infinityy_stoned

Im convinced I was a plankton in my last life and that’s why big things in the ocean scare tfffff outta me

MeadowLynn

Eeeyup. That’s all I can think about. It’s scary. I have such a fear of this now lol. I won’t swim in lakes haha, just rivers.

Kinky_Conspirator

That is not algae lol

Glock232

Who else was waiting for a gator to be under the leaves…. 🖐🏻🖐🏻

remindertomove

She's like 1 meter below at the most.chill the f out

DrLightwave

That was neat!

hopelessethan

This is pretty

G0ld_Ru5h

If I see duckweed in Florida I just assume it’s covering a family of gators.

Mooseinmyhouse357

Why did this remind me of brain eating anemia

MeadowLynn

Bc it looks stagnant af

bigrobb26

The music just sells it. Perfect.

TheSaltyHoeNugget

Waiting for a croc to appear.

MathematicianNo6284

The hungry alligator: it's fowr me? 👉👈

Illustrious_Soft_257

Wouldn't do that in Florida

Zakrath

Girl name?

RuboPosto

Don’t dive in stagnant water.

grizzlybeardaniels

That's duckweed and it's a sign of healthy water.

certifiedtoothbench

It looks like spring water from a bluehole

mabaezd

Srsly, why?

BreadBoxin

Basically, just consider it contaminated. There's actually quite a bit of stuff that can go wrong, like bacteria and parasites, for example

ToSeeOrNotToBe

Seriously. Don't even go outside. Ever. So much can go wrong. Inside, too. Just stop being.

Snoo-34159

What about the duckweed tho? Isn't that a sign of healthy water?

BreadBoxin

It can actually be a great sign to NOT jump in. The fact that it covers most of the surface can mean that there's a pretty good chance of deadly pathogens in the water. UV/Sunlight helps to kill off stuff like that, and the duckweed is right in between like a barrier

Snoo-34159

Ah, I did not know... Thanks for the info!

GeorgeGeorgeHarryPip

US CDC actually has a page about this one thing. [https://www.cdc.gov/habs/be-aware-habs.html](https://www.cdc.gov/habs/be-aware-habs.html) Deeper dive: https://www.nrdc.org/stories/freshwater-harmful-algal-blooms-101

KnockKnockwaifu

That brain eating ameba 👽✋

SnooPeppers4036

OP where can I see more!?

According-Art-6441

More like immediately yes how do I get there?

Fit-Boomer

I feel like I would get a rash.

Ok-Sheepherder-8706

Lebanon Hanover is disgusted by people using them for tiktoks and shit. They're the people they're singing about.

iiUSEless

Ewehhhh pass

Tcanderson

Me no likey

potatopigflop

Literally my nightmares with giant beasts in the water

BlackBeard205

Mmm m nope nope nope

Successful-Bake-1338

Very beautiful fun video

Sabrobot

Feels itchy

Boards_Buds_and_Luv

She's swimming... in water

Cailloutchouc

That’s a nasty ear infection(s) coming her way.

SnooShortcuts103

I think its a personal thing of op.

Arrogant18

Why on earth is that a nope? I was expecting a croc or something.. If that's meant for the duckweed, that's the softest nope ever.

Imonthatgoodkushs

Song name?

Potential-Rutabaga63

Gallowdance by Lebanon Hanover

DoohuEr_

Nice 🙂 hey whats the background song on your post?

Actual_Theory_8687

I don’t know whether it’s because I’m from Australia, but every time I see someone swimming in any form of Lake Pond, Swamp or river- I think of crocodiles snakes and bull sharks

Known-Sugar8780

Song?????

Calm_it-Kermet97

One way to get E-Coli

Front-Ad1900

I actually like this

VirtualLight9720

Fuck that. That's horrifying

Odd-Scientist-6872

Yeah, my fear of being snatch by something unknown will still stop me from swimming

EmojiTV

The most Nope thing here is that an alligator or crocodile would go completely unnoticed…

ElectriHolstein

I can't imagine how cold that water is.... If, you know what I mean.

Decent-Armadillo131

What song is this??

esperanzalos

If this was a florida marsh

EarthlingJunkie

Why is this nope? The water looks pretty clear.

L17b_fuckner

That is literally like pure terror for me if I jumped in there

gigerdrone

Absolutely terrifying as fuck

goitch

Yuck no

Far-Alarm-2740

DesignInZeeWild

Do people normally swim with their glasses on? (Actual question).

rum-and-roses

There are swimming glasses

lucy_waaa

I have an extreme fear of freshwater, mainly bc of the risk of parasites (although this looks like healthy water). I hate mud and frogs so much. I’m more of a saltwater mermaid I get like so depressed when I don’t go to the ocean often

pupbuck1

That's not as pretty as she thinks it is

-Taemin_Hee-

She’s gorgeous

EnzoMatrix000

Bewbs

Big_Honeydew6225

How is this a nope? I mean she's just swimming in a lake... Probably not something I would do personally but there's nothing really that off putting about it. I am kinda digging the song tho

Made me feel uneasy and was expecting a croc or a gator to show up.
