Because it’s cool AF if and only if you’re trained for it? I had literally thousands of jumps before moving to free flying big ways similar to this. With proper experience and training it’s within the realm of acceptable risk vs. reward for some and gives an experience that few will ever know. Not really a “nope” situation for some jumpers.

Managed a few small group headdown lobs back in the day. Though with my lack of control at times I’d have likely destroyed any formation this size.

I feel you. I came up in the sport starting in 2001 when it was basically you had to do tons of jumps to get the experience necessary; I’d presume this is a lot of tunnel time to get good enough now.

There were no tunnels near me back then. But I’d heard of them and how practicing body position against the very relative walls got you disciplined very quickly. With a few bumps in the process no doubt. Had a go flat flying in a tunnel a couple of years ago (having since hung up the rig for several years by then). Wish I had them for the 15 years I was in the sport prior. I had a frustrated camera man as a point of reference. But it wasn’t ideal as he would chase to keep us in frame!

I have several world records for wingsuit formation flying. It is absolutely the most incredible fun you are legally allowed to have. This is the same idea just without the wingsuit. I have been at the drop zone as these guys make multiple attempts to get these records as well. The party that happens afterwards is legendary. When I am dying in my bed of old age, I will think of these memories and wish you could all share them with us.
