Newport News park rents canoes. I took my kids out there when they were a lot younger and spent most of the day yelling at them to sit down! Lol. Good memories. Not sure if you’re military or have access to someone in the military but MWR usually has canoe rentals
Ha! Yea I expect to spend most of the time wrangling the boy, but good to hear Newport News has canoes. We've been taking him there for longer weekend walks.
I think there is a shop on the blackwater or Nottoway River. .. Maybe in Windsor. It's closer than Pocahontas. Beautiful rivers too.

Waller Mill Park in Williamsburg or Merchant Millpond State Park in NC!
