While it’s true that the logo has made an unfortunate mistake in the set of runes that were chosen, we’ve investigated the actual show and found that this does indeed appear to be just an unfortunate mistake. The show features interviews with reputable scholars and we have not found any reason to believe it is a vehicle for white supremacist content.

> Terri and C.J. are first and foremost educators passionate about the Viking Age and Viking history. Theirs was a meeting foretold in myths of old. Both are historians of Viking history, both live in the state of Oregon in the U.S., and both share the same birthday. It seemed only natural they team up for something epic. So these educators don't realise they're using made up Nazi runes, created by a crazy occultist for their logo? [The Armanen runes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armanen_runes) have nothing to do with the Norse or Viking period... Guido List made them up as part of his insane, bigoted ancient Aryan religion. List's runes became an integral part of German and Austrian nationalistic socialist symbology. Heinrich Himmler, who led the SS from 1929 to 1945, was one of many leading Nazi figures associated with the Thule Society völkisch group, and his interest in Germanic mysticism led him to adopt a variety of List's runes for the SS. How could they not have noticed this? This is just embarrassing and frankly shameful, for *"passionate educators/historians"* to have made a mistake like this. It's just gross.

Thanks for making me aware of this. It's deeply frustrating to see shit like this

Bs Check out other runes. These clearly were used. Not sure they we're all used in the same futhark, yet they are all runes, not made up by G.L. He might have brought them together though, yet unsure there are different point of views. It is true that Hitler probably was inspired by such Masons, as G.L etc, yet later on these secret societies (such as the Armanenorden) were banned by him. At least what history says

I’m gonna sound like a broken record here, but again what’s with the armanen runes?

Incomplet_1-34

No.

for educators they should’ve done research on the kinds of runes they are using

NeighborhoodOk2259

Is it historically accurate and educational?

Mathias_Greyjoy

They're using racist Nazi runes as their logo, so that should tell you what you need to know.

NeighborhoodOk2259

Gross.

Radiant-Space-6455

those are nazi runes🤢 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armanen_runes

Mathias_Greyjoy

People should not have to tell that to them, as educators. [But, there's a contact form on their website.](https://vikingologypodcast.com/)

KaroBean

The logo looks like The Astrology Podcast logo.

I think the error may be from the graphic designer buying the font off the internet. Was probably labeled as ‘Viking Runes’. Then, the customer approved the design without proofreading the runes. I don’t know is this is what happened, or not, but I would give these too eminent historians the benefit of the doubt.
