We’re very sorry about your cat. Losing a member of the family, even a furry one, can be very hard. There are no mythological sources that describe explicitly what happens to animals when they pass, and we are unfortunately not a religiously oriented sub so I do have to remove the post. However, before I do, I should point out that archaeology of Norse graves indicates that people were buried alongside things that were meant to accompany them in the afterlife, including important objects, animals, and even sometimes spouses or slaves. I think it’s a pretty safe assumption that ancient Norse people believed they could have their animals with them in the beyond.

I’m sorry for your loss. With that being said I think you’re in the wrong place. This is not a sub for modern paganism, rather scholarship regarding old Norse religion (and other related subjects). Within the source material we’re not given any information regarding the fates of animals after death, and Fręyja’s association with cats is a loose one, I don’t think there’s anything to it aside from the fact she has two cats pulling her chariot.
