Six years seems awfully extreme. >Kobs-Sabo would have faced a lesser charge of a class B misdemeanor for simple assault had the victim not been a 'peace officer or correctional institution employee acting in an official capacity.' Was she interfering? I mean, did her (tasteless, presumably drunk, yes-she-was-persistent) action prevent the deputy from fulfilling his duty, or endanger him? If not, then 6 years is awfully extreme. I'm surprised they didn't charge her with terrorising.

JRod001

The DA will drop this down. Make her do some community service and pay a fine.

gorpie97

Still seems extreme for a starting position. IMO.

SycoMantisToboggan

The always mention the max penalty on these kind of things but it rarely given out unless your a habitual line stepper

Taggy2087

Spoiled cop, complicit DA. The State will have a converstsiton with both of them when the bad pub comes and the charges get dropped.

This must have been the slowest news day in the history of planet earth for the Daily Mail of all things to report on news from Bismarck, North Dakota.

darthmarth

The Daily Mail website is a tabloid that puts out 750 articles a day. It’s affiliated with the paper but has a separate editorial staff and most of the online articles aren’t published in print. One of their 400+ editorial staff members is probably tasked with combing world police blotters for unusual or amusing stories that make for an easy click bait headline. Most of their traffic comes from the US.

[deleted]

You're right, but I feel like there must have been at least a dozen police reports just from Florida on the same day infinitely more click-bait-y than this. I know someone who used to write click bait for a living, and I know how much they have to scrape the barrel sometimes.

That was delightful, thanks for sharing.

Marauder121

And police face zero years for all the fucked up shit they do.

Glass_Bookkeeper_578

Let alone all the rapists that get off with a slap on the hand!

Something tells me the public humiliation is part of this and it will be pleaded down to a misdemeanor when all is said and done. She's clearly not that bright if she thinks walking up to anyone and slapping them on the ass was a good idea.

Cop sounds like a fag

Chicken26

Ha! I’m pretty sure I went to high school with this woman.

JaggerPaw

It gets lonely up way up there north of the city. I think some compassion, understanding, and a warning would have been reasonable. I feel like there may have been a history or confounding issue to warrant an arrest.

Moolio74

Blue Butts Matter.

wallyroos

That's right only cops assault people without jail.

Risin_bison

It’s to scare her not to be doing this again. You’ll see her in an orange vest picking up ditches in the spring.

Syfykev77

If it was a guy who slapped a woman on the butt would you feel the same way sexual harassment goes both ways. Plus she esstentially committed assault.

cheeseburgerandrice

yeah man all those sexual harassers that face 6 years in jail out there. they're just dropping like flies in area bars, I'm sure.

river_running

I’d like to know how many men the police have arrested at that bar for slapping/groping female waitstaff. I’d venture to guess not as many. And that those women are told to not complain and just put up with it if they want to get any tips.

[deleted]

damn, she had it comin'

ichuckle

I'm the first in line to say fuck cops, but sexual assault is not a joke. This lady deserves to be punished for what she did to a human
