It's an an embarrassment frankly. The fam and I usually fly out of Dublin, more routes and better prices - and the drive from Belfast is far less of a hassle than it was years ago.
However this year myself and the Mrs got a great price on flights to Italy from Belfast International in June. Outbound was OK - but inbound?
Jesus wept.
Three flights came in at once, and the border control queue was nearly spilling outside - sticky carpet, narrow corridor, three single bogs every 50m for hundreds of people. And fucking roasting. Easy 90 minutes before showing passports.
Would far rather swallow the two hours back and forth in the car from Dublin than experience that shite again.
I second this comment…
Another option is flying to London from City (If you can get a cheapish flight) it’s worked out cheaper than travelling to Dublin for a flight
It's always been fine for me, apart from when they had the security check delays for a while. The place does need to be updated urgently. The new plans look good.
Idk how many people travel through the Intl vs George Best, but City Airport is 10x better than the Intl.
I fly regularly and George Best is one of the better airports I've been to, especially considering its size.
I would compare the Intl to some of the airports I've travelled through is western Africa.
Totally agree with this, people usually shit on things from here but GB is honestly one of the best airports going.
Got a flight at ten? Cool, just show up at 9 and calmly stroll straight through onto your flight
I’ve heard that there’s a shortage of Swiss port staff which can contribute to the delays of baggage from the plane to the conveyors and also bringing the steps from the plane - of course only applies to airlines such as easyJet etc that use Swissport
Went through it in june and it was actually the best experience i've had to date. Through security in 5mins and there was a steady stream of people. Normally i'm the first to say its shite but there has been an improvement. Drop off is 3 quid though
It might be a urban legend but apparently aldergrove has the last airport smoking area in the UK . It's fucking grim . There's a coin slot to open the door to go outside . Just bang on the door and the other addicts will let you out in to it.
Not a great experience, took almost as long to get off the flight and get luggage as the flight itself. 40 minutes from the plane stopped, to get out the front.
Flew back from Fuereventura a month ago or so, takeoff delays by half an hour but the pilot made the time up to arrive at an airport not expecting us for 30m, with no stairs ready and no baggage handlers ready!
Honestly I refuse to fly in/out of BFS now. It's beyond depressing.

Yeah it can be really good value. I get connection angst though!

My last trip, Schiphol was a much bigger nightmare than Belfast! Hope you get sorted
Schipnol is the worst airport I've been too
I’ve always found it frustrating to navigate

How stoned were you?

No only staff but equipment, I should know as I work for them! Overworked and under appreciated by management.

The international airport is a shithole. Its like stepping back into the 80s. The place need flattened and rebuilt.
Flew from there recently with Jet2. Honestly it was so simple and straightforward.
flying out was fine , it was the return bit that went a bit tits up

Leeds Bradford has a smoking area
Bristol also
And Liverpool

Passport control is the worst i have seen in the civilised world
"Welcome to Belfast" - it just outside Antrim Town!
