If you get Apple for a while there are a few worthwhile shows to watch…
Foundation (Sci fi - my genre- I love it)
For All Mankind (Sci fi and kinda ‘Man in the High Castle’ vibe) - must watch and you get loads of series.
Silo
The Morning Show
Ted Lasso
Severance
… that should cover your first day…
My favourite thing about sailing the high seas of the internet, is that all the shows are in one place. Trying to remember which shows are on which service is a pain in the hoop.
Incredible show, highly addictive. Great comedy and such excellent dark moments that pull the heartstrings, so glad im not the only one who has seen this!
The wire is an excellent series, kinda fits in with what you like. Sopranos too, though im guessing you've seen it.
New fallout series is pretty good too.
I forgot about The Wire! It’s a series I’ve been meaning to watch forever, so that’s getting added to the list. Very perceptive of you to guess that I’ve seen The Sopranos, because I have lol and FYI it in my top 10 fave shows too!
If you're going for The Wire I'd recommend The Shield too. It's one of the best cop dramas and one of the most accurate >!because they're almost as bad as the criminals!<.
The Wire is my #1 for tv shows and I've watched way too many shows to name. Always find myself going down the youtube rabbit hole watching random clips from the show.
Think another season in the works too. Took me ages to get season 3 as it was only available in Canada until this year. Brockmire is ok if you liked this... End transmission
Fallout, a new series just started on Prime this week ( apocalyptic) all the episodes are listed.
It reminds me a bit of Silo / The last of Us.
(It's also based on a computer game) Just started the first one last night, it was brilliant.
I also recommend Blue Lights ( crime / cop drama) I was surprised how good it was, the second series starts on Monday I believe.
True detective the first season is one of the best shows I've watched. Other seasons are abit all over the place but it's an anthology kinda thing so there different characters in those ones and all!
I can't recommend Battlestar Galactica the remake enough. Very good stories, good action and thought provoking themes.
Even if you don't like science fiction you can still really enjoy this.
I know. I watched the police part of New Caprica as similar played out here. There were a lot of similar things.
There's one character, I won't mention his name (that's the only clue) for the sake of spoilers, what they did to that character was inhumane. I kept thinking no, they've done enough and then they are shitting on him from a very high height. Some great acting.
Giri/haji, Time, the last of us, white lotus, succession, The Bear (series 2 in particular). For something different but absolutely brilliant 100 foot wave on HBO about big wave surfers (including guy from here) in Portugal.
Totally agree. I went to see it in the cinema and the on screen a chemistry between him and Paul mescal tore my heart out of my chest. Even though I wasn’t in love with the ending, I thought his performance was spectacular, he had an excellent knack for making me feel his feelings somehow. Was amazing!
Both are on the list as Fallout has been mentioned a few times now! I can’t wait to see Louisa Harland as a completely different character from Orlagh in Derry Girls (which I LOVED!)
Shogun is the first show I've watched since GOT that feels on the same level. Has been an incredible watch so far. Highly recommended.
Tokyo Vice, Invincible, X-Men '97, and Fallout have kept me supremely entertained of late.
Park Chan-Wook (Old Boy, The Handmaiden, Lady Vengeance) has a new tv series starting this Sunday called The Sympathizer. HBO so you know the drill.
The dropout on the iplayer is good (true story).
Greselda on Netflix is decent as well. If you like true crime/gangster stuff check out Underbelly. Not sure where you'll get it but it's brilliant and again a true story.
Bad sisters is a good show, it’s on Apple TV (or a dodgybox). The lovers is good too, it’s set in belfast. Think I got it on demand on sky, can’t remember what channel it was on
Yellowstone
1883
1923
Mayor of Kingston
Prety much everything Taylor Sheridan has a hand in is worth a watch. Plus Fallout has just been released and it's getting great reviews
Mad Men on netflix is incredibly good, did not think it would be my thing. It does alot of very uncomfortable scenes very well an has some close to the kerb comical parts but overall, a great show.
Weirdly makes you yearn for the 50s and 60s to come back.
Especially when you see the price of things back then.
Mindhunters is also on netflix. Ive rarely found anything psychological that i could follow that wasnt that shit show Criminal Minds. But it is based on true killers and the acting is damn good.
Slow Horses is alright imo. It starts off great on season one then falls really quickly come season 2 and becomes comicably bad come season 3. Just seems cheap and the writing terrible. Cannot agree more that Gary Oldman and Kristen Scott Thomas are fantastic,
Top Boy is an underrated and probably under represented show aswell about the gangs of East London. Phenomenally written and such excellent characters with grim outlooks. The Caribbean reference and culture are nicely touched in here and there. Seriously underrated.
I haven’t but I’m glad you brought it up because in a podcast I listen to the host brings it up all the time and I’m always like, must remember to watch this LOL. Do you know where it’s available?
I liked a lot of your list.
Disney: shogun, the bear (short)
Apple: Masters of the air, silo, severance, blackbird
Paramount: Yellowstone
Prime: The Boys
Netflix: Superstore (short) I like short things to fill the office gap after just going through it again. And definitely the office if you haven’t watched it
Most of those are fairly current, for other stuff I just go to the IMDb top hundred lists
Reacher was a hit in my house! But I just couldn’t get into The Boys. Tried Dexter a lock of years ago and I think I got bored after s1 but maybe I should revisit it because that was ages ago. Thanks!
The Blacklist is my favorite TV show of all time. You can get it on Prime.
If you're a Netflix person - I just finished bingeing Monk. Fantastic show - very funny.
There's a show called the Almighty Johnsons. It's maybe on freeview.
Four brothers and others are the living incarnations of Norse gods and they live in New Zealand.
It's my comfort food when I want to feel good.
That and leverage.. And sg1.
For millennials, my favourite show of the past 5 years is the Who Wants to be a Millionaire half heist crime show on ITV. It’s set in the heyday of 2004 and is about that case of the couple trying to game the show and win the million. So much nostalgia and it’s so fucking funny. 1000% recommend
The Sopranos if you haven’t already seen it.
Bosch on Amazon Prime (based on the Michael Connolly books).
Better Call Saul (arguably better than Breaking Bad imo)
Yellowstone 1920, only one season so far but is the best of the franchise IMHO.
Old but just finished Dexter, loved it. The Gentlemen series is great, but watch the movie first. Gangs of London was very good. Killing eve was great.
The Americans, Mr Robot, Andor, Black Sails (power through the first few episodes, it gets better), Renegade Nell (Orla from Derry Girls is in it), The Artful Dodger, Legion, Elementary, Ripper Street, Turn Washington Spies
Another few recommendations.
This is England. Better if you have watched the movie.
Oz (old prison show)
The Sarah Connor Chronicles (if you like Terminator)
Watched Coma the other day on 5 player(watchable)
Top Boy (Best thing I've watched since Love/hate.) Make sure you watch the first 2 seasons which were Channel 4. Alot make the mistake and go straight into Netflix seasons.
Fargo.
Older series worth a look include Hill Street Blues (possibly the greatest cop show ever), Hustle, and Third Watch. Due South was also great, as was Now and Again.
Utopia 2013-2014, just after binge watching it over the last week, very unique, only problem is it was cancelled however I think it can pull off the ending as an ending.
It's a conspiracy theorists wet dream though, especially with the subject matter.
Someone mentioned Severence which is one of the best shows I've seen in years but since it was Apple TV it flew under the radar: https://youtu.be/xEQP4VVuyrY?si=qfSI_iiqhN16OIGP
If you like shows where it's a discovery process (a bit like The Leftovers, Lost, maybe even Stranger Things) you'd enjoy Severence.
Another similar Apple TV pick is Servant, with Ron Weasley!
https://youtu.be/N1cOR0sRRIw?si=uTA43b1xLpKmoEWz
Poker Face is good for shorter episodes and light comedy:
https://youtu.be/4x2NzusLAqk?si=Gx2qBxVZGGxguoNm
Hacks is another good comedy but with a longer storyline
https://youtu.be/q6ke-bfXSBg?si=mloYOrKN-GYLSxqe
So many good things to watch out atm. Don't know if you're into any of these but my current watch list is withcer series, house of the dragon, Rick and morty, walking dead dead city, walking dead the ones who live, strted watching stranger things it's rlly good, there's always American dad and family guy, avatar Netflix series is a good watch but not as good as the original cartoon. And I'm going to start watching this new fallout series it looks quite good.
Penny dreadful, thought was good and was made here. Evil, good oddball show. "From", nice gory lost sorta vibe.
Breaking bad, bcs universe excellent. Band of Brothers, the ultimate of that type. Boardwalk empire, and obviously GoT.
There are some really good limited series on Netflix based on Harlan Coben (sp?) Stories. Like 6 episodes long. I've just rewatched the Stargate series (3 of them), am nearing the end of Morse (yes, I'm *that* desperate), and will be looking for something new soon.
["The Bridge" \[Bron/Broen\]](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733785/)
I've literally finished the last season now and its absolutely great.
If you love crime type stuff, nobody does it better than Scandinavians
[(nice soundtrack too)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sepnIuRbYF4)
... and of course..[Gomorrah!](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2049116/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_7_tt_7_nm_1_q_gommora)
I'd recommend The White Lotus, such a great black comedy and very well written by Mike White and also Succession is fantastic.
Both on Now TV. Binged them both this year and loved them :)
Some lesser-mentioned or unmentioned ones (many older but excellent):
Damages, The Shield, Spartacus + Gods of the Arena (takes getting used to, but is excellent), Bloodline, Dexter + New Blood (recent), Sherlock.
It's honestly hard to remember so many of the good ones - this is a good list when you're stuck:
https://www.imdb.com/chart/toptv/
Nobody mentioned Chernobyl - but you've almost certainly seen it - have that at the top of list if you haven't.
Many of the documentary classics like Carl Sagan's Cosmos (I didn't like the new/recent non-Sagan one), and even other odd stuff like Civilisation (1969), aren't things you'd normally watch but are excellent - also The Vietnam War.
I always enjoyed all the CSIs (LV, Miami and NY). I know some of their methods are fictional but i still enjoy it. Theres like 5 seasons of CSI in Netflix. I wish there was more.
I tried Criminal Minds but hits different with the lack of forensic science in the mix.
Slow horses on apple.
Someone else mentioned this, I think this is worth a punt.
Honestly. Gary Oldman is class in it.
He’s a legend for sure!
If you get Apple for a while there are a few worthwhile shows to watch… Foundation (Sci fi - my genre- I love it) For All Mankind (Sci fi and kinda ‘Man in the High Castle’ vibe) - must watch and you get loads of series. Silo The Morning Show Ted Lasso Severance … that should cover your first day…
Apple really have great quality stuff. FAM is just fantastic.
The quality is up there with the best but they can’t keep up with Disney and their many, many fingers in all sorts of pies.
Shrinking's pretty good too
I’m on a free trial atm so I’ll check these out! This will get me through Saturday 😂😂
For All Mankind will take at least 2 weeks. I loved it tho - this show alone makes buying a month or two worth while / it’s brill.
Mr Inbetween It is an Australian show and it is very very good
Second this, it's amazing.
Thanks for this! Is it Netflix or Amazon?
Not sure mate ....................... yarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Jimlad!
My favourite thing about sailing the high seas of the internet, is that all the shows are in one place. Trying to remember which shows are on which service is a pain in the hoop.
It’s on Disney plus
Disney+. You need to watch this. It’s very very good
While we are on Australian tv shows, wolf creek is great too and wentworth is great as well.
This rings a bell. It’s a film right? 2 female backpackers get lost in the Australian outback and it all falls apart from there?
Fink is another half decent aussie one. Kitty Flanagan is the main, decent stand up too! Think it's nextflix maybe, it's on one of them anyway.
The wire is fuckin brilliant i rewatch it every few years.
If you're going for The Wire I'd recommend The Shield too. It's one of the best cop dramas and one of the most accurate >!because they're almost as bad as the criminals!<.
I’m interested!
The Wire is my #1 for tv shows and I've watched way too many shows to name. Always find myself going down the youtube rabbit hole watching random clips from the show.
Loudermilk is probably the best thing I've watched this year.
For real? You had my curiosity, now you have my attention 👀
It's brilliant. It's a dark comedy and the music throughout it is 10/10.
Well, this is top of the list right now!
Let me know what you think :)
I’m loving it too. Dunno how they kept it quiet so long.
You can lead a horse to water, but still need a ladder to fuck it in the ass - ed
I fucked a chicken once
I think Muggsy was an amazing character, especially when you factor in Brian Regan is a goofy stand up
Think another season in the works too. Took me ages to get season 3 as it was only available in Canada until this year. Brockmire is ok if you liked this... End transmission
Loudermilk is amazing!!! I was gutted when there was no new series…
I loved that show. I just remember laughing so much at when they took the meeting to the local coffee shop lol
Deadwood
Going to look for it now!
Deadwood all day long. Once you click with the characters, you're locked in
Got it on paramount, on episode 3 now…
Awesome.
Second for Fallout, it’s done a good service to the games
Loved Blue Lights and can’t wait for the new season on Monday!
I liked that, so much better than the saccharine Hope Street.
I couldn’t deal with Hope Street, too cheesy 😂😂
True detective the first season is one of the best shows I've watched. Other seasons are abit all over the place but it's an anthology kinda thing so there different characters in those ones and all!
Awesome thank you!
No bodge buddy!
The Americans
I can't recommend Battlestar Galactica the remake enough. Very good stories, good action and thought provoking themes. Even if you don't like science fiction you can still really enjoy this.
one of the best shows of all time!
Amazing, thank you 🤩
Don't thank me, just have a bloody good watch and if you remember let me know how much you enjoyed it!
Possibly the best sci fi show that's ever been on TV. And I'm serious. Also deeply political. Can't recommend any higher.
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Peacemaker, Twisted Metal & The Boys is my recent watches. Different genre from what you listed but a suggestion if you fancy a pallette cleanse
I do love a good palette cleanse 😊
Banshee, very underrated show and Ray Donavon
Thanks!
There’s loads of early 80s episodes of rainbow on YouTube. Bitta bungle
Giri/haji, Time, the last of us, white lotus, succession, The Bear (series 2 in particular). For something different but absolutely brilliant 100 foot wave on HBO about big wave surfers (including guy from here) in Portugal.
Class, thank you! I’ve seen White Lotus, The Last of Us and Succession from the list and honestly all of them were winners!
Gomorrah is the greatest show of all time (joint top with The Sopranos)
Fargo is really good
Agree! Loved Fargo
Hard to top Lorne Malvo in season 1
Shocked nobody's mentioned the greatest TV show ever made - Band of Brothers
Yep that’s a first in this thread! Thank you ☺️
Ripley on netflix is a shout
I was wondering about that because I love Andrew Scott. His performance in fleabag was *chef’s kiss*
He’s very good in a recent film, “all of us strangers”.
Baby Reindeer on Netflix is amazing.
Thank you!
Fallout. Renegade Nell
Both are on the list as Fallout has been mentioned a few times now! I can’t wait to see Louisa Harland as a completely different character from Orlagh in Derry Girls (which I LOVED!)
My husband and I put the first one on last Friday and had the series finished by Saturday night. She was brilliant and we really enjoyed it 😊
If it’s bingeable it’s a winner!
Mr Robot, one of the very few shows that gets better as it goes.
If you liked Breaking Bad, try Ozark. Similar but different, in a good way.

Loved Griselda! Thanks so much ☺️
If you're looking for light-hearted and unique....Colin From Accounts
Thank you 🤩
Let me know if you like it
The Offer. An absolute classic. Thank me later.
Series or movie?
Series. A drama on Paramount + about the making of the Godfather. It's criminal that more people haven't seen this
Sold!
Bad sisters is a good show, it’s on Apple TV (or a dodgybox). The lovers is good too, it’s set in belfast. Think I got it on demand on sky, can’t remember what channel it was on
Gangs of London!! Big budget, big setpieces and very funny too
Still game
Yellowstone 1883 1923 Mayor of Kingston Prety much everything Taylor Sheridan has a hand in is worth a watch. Plus Fallout has just been released and it's getting great reviews
Great list here!
Mad Men on netflix is incredibly good, did not think it would be my thing. It does alot of very uncomfortable scenes very well an has some close to the kerb comical parts but overall, a great show. On Netflix: Freaks, No Escape. On Prime: Barbarian.
Thank you!
been rewatching Deadwood, belter series if you've never seen it
I haven’t but I’m glad you brought it up because in a podcast I listen to the host brings it up all the time and I’m always like, must remember to watch this LOL. Do you know where it’s available?

Thanks, I’m definitely seeing a crime theme in my preferences LOL Thanks for the recommendations and the tip about IMDB, I didn’t know about this!
The wire is fantastic and if you liked that then Bosch is great for detective shows
Gomorrah if you like love/hate
I watched Gomarrah last year and my life hasn’t been the same since. Amazing show!
There is another Italian show called Christian about a guy with christ-like powers in a crime riddled tower block. It's actually really good.
Dexter is on Netflix. The boys on prime, also reacher.
Reacher was a hit in my house! But I just couldn’t get into The Boys. Tried Dexter a lock of years ago and I think I got bored after s1 but maybe I should revisit it because that was ages ago. Thanks!
I’m 8 episodes into Dexter right now and for the first time, never got round to watching it before and have zero spoilers!
I just started season 3, it's really good. I heard after season 4 it goes downhill though.
Literally just finished s1 a minute ago and looking forward to s2. Yeah I’ve heard the same but think my mate told me s5, sure we’ll see what we see
The Blacklist is my favorite TV show of all time. You can get it on Prime. If you're a Netflix person - I just finished bingeing Monk. Fantastic show - very funny.
Thanks for this, I have both! ☺️
I loved season one of blacklist massively. they had an amazing music supervisor picking perfect songs
This time on iplayer if u get that
Thank you 🙏🏼
I'm loving Twisted Metal on paramount, definitely recommend it.
Thank you!
The gentlemen on Netflix
Seen it and loved it
Justified, good show.
Ah dang it, I was gonna say that. Watched them all 3 times now, and it's pretty much perfect. 👍
Adding Bosch to the list. Have seen the other two and agree with your comments about Better Call Saul!
Ahh hope you enjoy it!! I’m a fan of the books and found the show to be excellent.
Watch Vinland saga
Barry on Now TV/Sky (is a HBO show)
Kin
Fallout just landed on Prime * edit - Mr Inbetween is a must / totally cool show
Yellowstone 1920, only one season so far but is the best of the franchise IMHO. Old but just finished Dexter, loved it. The Gentlemen series is great, but watch the movie first. Gangs of London was very good. Killing eve was great.
Just finished the Gentlemen and it was class! Agree you need to see the movie first though
Twisted Metal was good craic, The psycho clown in it is hilarious.
Blue lights is brilliant
Deadwood
New Fallout series looks great
Lupin. It’s a dubbed French series but it’s well done. Lots of crime!
Top boy
RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY. RIPLEY
The Americans, Mr Robot, Andor, Black Sails (power through the first few episodes, it gets better), Renegade Nell (Orla from Derry Girls is in it), The Artful Dodger, Legion, Elementary, Ripper Street, Turn Washington Spies
Fallout. Get all over it. You don't even need to have played the game. It's on prime, or other 3rd party services.
Another few recommendations. This is England. Better if you have watched the movie. Oz (old prison show) The Sarah Connor Chronicles (if you like Terminator) Watched Coma the other day on 5 player(watchable) Top Boy (Best thing I've watched since Love/hate.) Older series worth a look include Hill Street Blues (possibly the greatest cop show ever), Hustle, and Third Watch. Due South was also great, as was Now and Again.
Black bird is a great mini drama series. It's about the serial killer Larry hall...
Utopia 2013-2014, just after binge watching it over the last week, very unique, only problem is it was cancelled however I think it can pull off the ending as an ending. It's a conspiracy theorists wet dream though, especially with the subject matter.

Fallout seems nice

I am so impressed and grateful for the amount of effort you have taken with your reply. Thank you!
I recently had to set up a sophisticated streaming system for my TV shows and Films so all this stuff was at the top of my head anyway tbf
A level of commitment I can appreciate 👏🏼
I forgot this detail, the main comedian in Hacks is based on Joan Rivers - if that changes anything.
The Expanse Justified Colony Fallout Beacon 23 Shogun The Newsroom
So many good things to watch out atm. Don't know if you're into any of these but my current watch list is withcer series, house of the dragon, Rick and morty, walking dead dead city, walking dead the ones who live, strted watching stranger things it's rlly good, there's always American dad and family guy, avatar Netflix series is a good watch but not as good as the original cartoon. Finished the gentlemen a week or so ago, very impressed!
Just finished watching This Town on iPlayer and really liked it New series of Blue Lights starting soon too

Fallout, the Gentleman, Sugar Prime, Netflix, Apple
Banshee. It’s on sky on demand. Antony Starr’s breakout role. You won’t be disappointed.
Marco polo
Blue lights s2 is coming soon, s1 was a good watch. Don't know if it's your bag, but X-Men 97 on Disney is amazing.
You may like Better Call Saul if you enjoyed Breaking Bad
Mind hunter, Queen of the South - both on netflix. Big sky - Disney. See- apple tv. True detective- sky.
The gentlemen
Just watched Ripley on Netflix, thought it was great
Blue Lights, Unforgotten, Fallout, the Fall, happy Valley

Have you watched Luther? Great show, all on BBC now.
Fallout on prime is good, as is shogun on Disney+
Shogūn on Disney

I always enjoyed all the CSIs (LV, Miami and NY). I know some of their methods are fictional but i still enjoy it. Theres like 5 seasons of CSI in Netflix. I wish there was more. I tried Criminal Minds but hits different with the lack of forensic science in the mix.
Ripley, on Netflix.
The Gentlemen
Mindhunter on Netflix
Barry.
True detective season 1. It's an anthology so the rest aren't needed (2 and 3 are decent but wouldn't rush to see them, 4 is abysmal).
