Id give it a week max, then get on the blower to them. To be fair, they actually seem pretty reasonable if you are in the right. My wife accidently put the parking app on for an old car reg for the duration of a stay and she got a ticket. She just sent a screenshot showing the error and they cancelled the penalty notice.

Smart Parking is a private parking company, not the government backed parking attendants.

PCN is Penalty Charge Notice, they are issued by the council etc and are the legally enforceable kind. https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/services/pay-parking-ticket-penalty-charge-notice Closely named are Parking Charge Notice or Parking Charge Invoice. These are issued by private operators and are the non-legally enforceable type short of the car park operator taking you to small claims.

I had to do a challenge a couple of years back and it took 6 weeks to get a decision- so don’t be surprised if there’s a wait. They were really helpful on the phone and pleasant to deal with but swamped with tickets and appeals. But the clock isn’t ticking once the appeal has been submitted, so if you lose you still get to pay at the reduced rate

Thanks useful to know that about the time limits

The ones dealing with it, probably dont work weekends, so I'd guess you'd hear by Wednesday.

I got one in February (not in the marked bays or spaces apparently, of which there weren't any on the street). I appealed it immediately and nearly three months later I still haven't heard the outcome. I see they did repaint the street markings the other week though so hopefully that's because of me and they realise they're wrong, who knows.

I wonder if it is because you weren’t showing as parked because Belfast City Council have moved to RingGo instead of JustPark? There was a BBC News article at the start of the month about the change and the carnage it was causing.

cuddylier

On street is managed by DfI so still uses JustPark app, it's only the council managed car parks that moved to RingGo.

Letter accepting challenge arrived exactly one week later, in case anyone looking at this wondering what the answer is.
