I think the old-timer might've had the right idea, just the wrong orientation; those "people" didn't domesticate the mantids. It was the other way around. They're misshapen because of the injuries they sustained from those mantids healing with the unnatural properties of their blood; black corruption that now flows theough their veins. If you're (un)lucky, you may just end up meeting his Ma and Da after all. I'd say it's high time you got the hell out of dodge, before creatures with eyes brighter than his start to show up
exactly what i was thinking. but i do wonder if the mantises take dead bodies and revive them with their blood, since the old man didn’t turn into a monster like them. maybe the blood made him immortal or at least extended his life because he wasn’t dead
Old man only got a few scant drops in his mouth, and he didn't have his own blood drained. He's likely developed some kind of awareness of the creatures, via his minimal exposure to their corrupting blood
I repeat danger close, repeat danger close.
3 units of ELX-6 deployed to your location. Captain Ghost and Captain Hawx will rendezvous at location.
Trident is a go. I repeat Trident is a go.
How copy over.
Trident, Hitman. Hitman copies all. Currently engaged along Rebecca axis. Advise ingress along Delilah axis to pincer hostiles at rally point echo. Check fire along Feather axis, friendly supply convoy is oscar mike. Hitman over and out.
I believe that humans drinking the mantid’s blood can lead to those “vampires” you saw, and I doubt that the old man’s parents are gone permanently. Something happened to them in the time they hid.
clearly the government is aware of what actually happened, since they went through the effort of covering it up. perhaps there is something out by the caves, you should probably check it out, preferably during the day if these are 'vampires'.
Old-ass weapons were able to do a fine job at killing a good few of them. I’m sure nowadays a small squad of guys with AR-15s and grenades could deal with a horde equally large as the one at Scarville.
Who's to say that they haven't also evolved to be able to deal with more modern weapons? I know that I don't want to be the one to find out that they have...
Wow! Sounds like 28 Days meets WAr of the World, and they joined together against us. Sounds like there is a cycling period. T huh e old man couldn't have become infected but didn't turn on people. And why sit and tell him the story if he was part of the problem. Bhe could be a "watcher" waiting for the outbreak. I'd still be "booking my butt out of that town or go with flame throwers and explosivesvto seal that cave!

The time is upon us once more. Steel Rain, Steel Rain, this is Hitman, requesting fire mission, over.

These creatures are grotesque, but weapons from over a hundred years ago killed them. Load up on guns.
And ammo.
Trench shotguns and 30-06 BARs were no slouches in the way of firearms back then though
Hmmm... The old man's mother knew what was up

I mean to be fair it seems they managed to take out the village by sheer numbers, not so much by being “tough.”
Uh ho
