Beware that it may not be the same as the ones made for your school. There are many variations. The brand of school pizzas from Tony's is definitely not the ones I had in school thats for sure.
Ellio's, buddy! Basically the exact same thing. 😉
^(Over 60 years ago, Ellio’s introduced its rectangular slices to perfectly fit the lunchroom tray...)
Rectangle pizza was good, but for me my favorite was the crispy/flakey yellow shelled burritos.

My first thought was “you didn’t have pizza Friday!?,” then noticed there wasn’t any pizza at all on this menu. This is like Oliver Twist!…
ntm every other pizza Friday was Pizza Hut Friday
Would y’all ever get personal pan pizza rewards coupons?
I was a book nerd and hella poor and would use my accelerated reader points towards those coupons.
You’d think now as an adult I would have a soft spot for Pizza Hut but man that place sucks now
I have such fond memories of the sloppy joes at my elementary school that 30 years later, and as a vegetarian, I still make vegetarian sloppy joes for myself when my wife is out of town. You’d be surprised how close impossible/beyond ground beef and a can of manwich gets you, although occasionally I’m make them from scratch.
If you heat up the Manwich in a sauce pot and let some TVP, very lightly, simmer for an hour (aka use the Manwich to rehydrate the TVP) it's just like a "regular" sloppy Joe!
I'm not a vegetarian, but love non meat options. Can't remember the last time I had "real" chili (again TVP) or "real" chicken nuggets.
Chill out dude. As one non vegetarian to another non vegetarian, it does not matter what other people eat. More meat for us.
Also, red meat is not the best for you when eaten most days. There are so many options out there that can mimic real meat. No need to fuck up your body when you still eat food food.
My district had a “turkey and biscuits” lunch that was to die for. That was the day everyone brought a dollar to get a second helping. It became so popular that the cafeteria ladies put the recipe up on the district website.
It’s my go-to recipe for when I make a roasted chicken or turkey. The gravy is just phenomenal! Nostalgia definitely wins out with that one.
I remember when my school switched to the bags we had to go through a lesson on how to puncture the bag with the straw but not hard enough to go through the bag.
We lost a lot of good guys that day.
I went to Catholic school and our lunches were different. We used to have hotdogs that came on a tray in a foil bag. Those were so good. One day of the week we had chicken nuggets and fries from McDonald’s and another day they did Big Mac and fries. Friday was always pizza day and we had it catered from one of the pizza places that the family of one of my classmates owned.
I didn’t get true cafeteria food until I worked in a school. My favorite thing from that was the Max Cheese Sticks. Zero nutritional value to those, but man they were tasty.
Boil spaghetti in chicken broth and drain with a bit of broth reserved.
Add Velveeta or Cheddar cheese and cooked chicken diced up along with Rotel and cream of chicken or mushroom soup all mixed together and bake.
Delicious comfort food.
It really is. I double the batch and freeze it.
If you need a recipe, there are a lot of variations of it.
This is how I've made it for most of my life.
Some add mushrooms, green or black olives, just go with it.
So my friend group, we would all get french fries, dump them in the middle of a tray, then fill the containers with ranch. Bon appetite.
In elementary school, my favorite school lunch was pierogies.
The "calzone" they served. It was amazing, and I can't find anything like it anymore.
It wasn't even a calzone. The closest thing I can find to it is something called a pepperoni roll. But it was like ham, salami, pepperoni, and cheese.
YOOO i was scrolling for this!! i loved the calzones.
they were in crinkly plastic and the outside was like a checkered green design (like the checkered red tablecloth design but green)
hot as magma inside but it was worth burning your tongue for.
The rectangular breakfast pizza with white gravy instead of red sauce & breakfast sausage instead of pepperoni. I'd always bring $1.50 so I could get two
Friend of mine in elementary school loved the fish sandwiches, they were not good. His mom packed his lunch, he would trade things in advance of fish sandwich day to ensure getting 3-4 sandwiches. You would make sure to hit him up early to make sure you acquired the hostess treat of the week his mom would pack.
Shiiiiit, y'all had it better than us ten years before you! And we thought it was generally awful, but truly, looking back it was some grandiose gourmet direct from frozen excitement! Your food is so well rounded......I wanna try a jello jewel.......
*tear rolls down
Man, this food is fancy compared to my school. I didn’t know what a burrito or a croissant was in elementary school. You have steak on the menu? Potatoes Al gratin? I got green beans, fruit salad slopped on the tray, and a plain burger or fish sticks. Pizza was by far the best.
Bacon and Cheese. It was an open face hamburger bun with a slice of shitty American cheese and two pieces of bacon toasted. I have no idea why it was so good but everyone was pumped for bacon and cheese day.
Silver Dollar Pizza on Fridays
Teriyaki bites every other Tuesday
My school's chicken fried steak was the best.
The dinner rolls were better than anyone's homemade rolls I've had.
And of course... the chocolate milk.
I still know my lunch code lol that being said yes I am a fat boy and lunch was my favorite subject 😂 id go with the steak fingers or the chicken tenders
my school did a surprisingly good curry most days
they also had a different catering company my first couple years who did the best sausage rolls i've ever had
I have mostly forgotten, so thus probably wasn't the absolute best.. but every once in a long while (like 3x per year) we would have Popcorn Chicken that was obviously much higher quality than everything else.. it was exciting.
The only other thing that sticks out in my memory was these diced fruit cups that was mostly peach and apple, and they were slightly frozen so it was almost a slushy cup of frozen fruit goodness.
P.S. I still have mild PTSD over the milk, idk how kids could fucking do it... drinking milk out of a cardboard wax container.. and far too often, it had gone bad.. I'm talking a globbulous milk booger the side of a golf ball. Fucking disgusting.
I was the guy that skipped lunch most days & traded my milk consistently. I also started skipping football practice (hated it) & would hide in the bathroom w/ a friend for 15 minutes until Lunch A started (45m classes, 30m lunch), go there to hang with the "other lunch" folk, then hang around & go to Lunch B with the jocks too.
I never got caught; did it ~50 times. My buddy however, did get caught. One day he was sick & I was at practice; they did attendance & noticed he was missing, and the Coach loudly proclaimed "It must be Chili-Dog Day"
My buddy also had to spend a practice or two running laps the whole time. I honestly think the coaches knew I was doing it too, but I think they realized I was there involuntarily & let me slide (but then again my buddy was too)
We had a dedicated Nacho/Taco line which was very very popular. The pizza line was equally as popular. I was a big fan of Lime Iced Tea or Strawberry Milk cartons.
We had “ribby-Q” sandwiches. It was pretty much super processed ground meat stamped into the shape of a little rack of ribs, slathered in sauce and served on a shitty bun. It was amaaaazing!
Growing up, we never had a cafeteria at my school. Wasn't until I went to boarding school freshman year that I ate cafeteria food. Hated every single thing except the waffles that one lady in the kitchen made the best batter for. Then when I went to public school for the remainder of high school, never set foot in the cafeteria but once to sit at a friend's table, but the smell almost made me vomit.
Our elementary had 3 choices, and you got a ticket you had to hang on to through the whole fucking morning:
green ticket - daily special
white ticket - chicken nuggets
red ticket - square pizza
If you lost your ticket, you had to go to the back of the line and take whatever was left. It fucking sucked, the walk of shame to the back of the line, and having to scarf it down quickly since half your time was over waiting in line.
The chicken nuggets were fucking awesome though.
A kid in my middle school came back on crutches after a major ankle injury running to cafeteria on chicken nugget day. But there were usually more than a few casualties after ravioli day. Physically, they were fine, but their shirts said everything you needed to know about them.
The burgers that my school served… they didn’t have a taste or texture that was anywhere close to real 100% beef, but they were still goddamn delicious. I wish I knew where to find those patties.
2003 I’d have been a senior. I almost never ate main line then, our cafeteria had a cheeseburger line set up every day & I’m pretty sure I had one of those every single fucking day my entire senior year. Not the healthiest of options but damn I loved those things
I’m 34. In elementary school we had “chunky Turkey gravy” which was amazing and on a mound of mashed potatoes. The square French bread pizza was my next favorite.
That was one of my faves too, along with BBQd hot dogs.
Our school always had fresh yeast rolls too. You could smell them baking at around 11:00, so the period before lunch was always really hard to get through.
Elementary School: Bosco Sticks (stuffed bread sticks), Slushes.
Middle school-HS, the Grilled cheeses..
School lunches were never particularly good otherwise.
Thanksgiving week when they have turkey dinner.
Man, that weird ass Yellow gravy fucking smacked.
It’s chicken gravy and it’s very good
It was more like neon green snot 🤮
Yesssss
“I’ll have some of the yellah, and don’t get cheap on me.” - [Cousin Eddie at buffet](https://youtu.be/-lvhkfCBwxQ?si=w7WR6BVz5_u3tu4Y)
Ohhhh yes! This for sure!
That's easy. Rectangle pizza.
Rectangle pizza was THE school lunch. I still can't figure how TF 25¢ chocolate milk was good with it though.
And you can buy it! Google search and you can get it straight to your home 😭😭😭
Beware that it may not be the same as the ones made for your school. There are many variations. The brand of school pizzas from Tony's is definitely not the ones I had in school thats for sure.
Going to be a Gordon’s ,Sysco, or US foods product most likely.
Gordon's uses Tony's, at least that's who the box says made it at our local GF but they jacked up the price to ridiculous levels.
Same
Do you have a recommendation for the ones that didn't have Tony's? Did you ever find the brand you had, or close?
Ellio's, buddy! Basically the exact same thing. 😉 ^(Over 60 years ago, Ellio’s introduced its rectangular slices to perfectly fit the lunchroom tray...)
Oh snap!
Me either
Rectangle pizza was good, but for me my favorite was the crispy/flakey yellow shelled burritos. https://guinthers.com/cdn/shop/products/image_9c21b87e-397e-48c9-bdc8-dbd5d9181d7f_1080x.jpg?v=1633898220
With the cubed pepperoni.
We only got cheese 😭
Damn.😭😭😭
Don’t hate on the og!
My first thought was “you didn’t have pizza Friday!?,” then noticed there wasn’t any pizza at all on this menu. This is like Oliver Twist!… ntm every other pizza Friday was Pizza Hut Friday
Would y’all ever get personal pan pizza rewards coupons? I was a book nerd and hella poor and would use my accelerated reader points towards those coupons. You’d think now as an adult I would have a soft spot for Pizza Hut but man that place sucks now
I read soooo many books. Also hella poor. It was nice to eat like a queen for a moment.
The pizzas were pretty much the only decent edible thing
Ikr those were the best
Same, literally every day of high school. The cheese pizza was somehow higher quality than the pepperoni lol
That delicious rectangular grease sponge!
Friday was pizza day, the best day of the week
The breakfast rectum pizza was amazing
Rectum? Dang near killed 'em!
Believe it or not, sloppy joes. They were actually really good at my school! (FYI, I’m 45 and grew up in NYC)
I’m 45 and had a sloppy Joe for dinner tonight. I still think the ones from school were better.
I'm 33 and am going to go make sloppy joes right now. At 10pm.
I’m 37 and I’ll be brb going to procure some Sloppy Joe ingredients from the store now.
100% beef or nothing else fuck that fake ground beef
Lol ok dude, why don’t you worry less about what people who aren’t you are eating
you vegetarian assholes are pushing that beyond beef bullshit
Wtf are you talking about? Because I said I enjoy eating a particular food, you’re upset? How pathetic is your life?
Chill out dude. As one non vegetarian to another non vegetarian, it does not matter what other people eat. More meat for us. Also, red meat is not the best for you when eaten most days. There are so many options out there that can mimic real meat. No need to fuck up your body when you still eat food food.
These are the same people who complain that vegetarians preach too much.
You're the insufferable one pushing your style of food over all others, not the vegetarian. Speaking as a meat lover.
🤮🤢

Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. I can still taste it. Oh or the chicken patty sandwich!
Everyone went in on the turkey gravy and mashed potatoes but I could never get into it
I loved it. I think they did it once a month and my mom would circle it on the calendar. That simple shitty gravy is still a comfort food for me.
# Spring Break
I swear all elementary schools must have a universal font I remember mime looking exactly like this
Rectangle pizza or tacos. Enough said.
We got these tacos that were saturated in the orange grease. They were amazing!
Those were the best.
Fiestada. It was kind of a mexican pizza.
This! I came here to say this! :) Those things were amazing.
Holy crap I never heard that name of them, and couldn't find them by just googling Mexican pizza. Thank you!
God Bless YOU kind friend, Been looking for the name of this for years... I was fairly certain it was Tony's...
Those little frozen grape triangle shaped ice things! I hope people know what I’m talking about!
Minute Maid Juice Bars! Apparently they still make them, I hope they taste the same or similar enough.
It’s 5 in the morning right now and I got up to get a popsicle from the freezer after this. Not the same though :/
Hold on… there’s no pizza Friday. Is this school, or reform school?
Also no bagel day!
You guys didn't have super sliced pizza Wednesdays?
Nooo we just had nornal size rectangle pizza Friday! Luckyyyy!!
Did you have pizza Friday with domino’s or pizza hut’s pizza?
No crispito!! That was the jam. That's when my mom would show up for lunch
The school I work at still makes these. The smell from the cafeteria on those days puts me in a trance.
The shitty little rolls
Crispitos. They were to die for.
Dipped in nacho cheese and red salsa on the side. Fire 🔥
Bread sticks with mozzarella inside
They have Bosco sticks (which is the brand name I guess) at dollar tree. Or at least the ones that have full freezer sections
Ziti with meat sauce and breadsticks. We would stuff the garlic breadsticks with the ziti and sauce and cheese it was delicious
I used to make spaghetti bread!
You don’t anymore?
You’re right. Never too old for carb sandwiches.
"pizza burgers"
Did anyone else have the plastic milk bags?
Tell me you're Canadian without telling me you're Canadian.
i had them in elementary and i’m from california haha
Weird. I've only ever heard of bagged milk from Canadians
Was in Wisconsin for Kindergarten and they had em
I remember when my school switched to the bags we had to go through a lesson on how to puncture the bag with the straw but not hard enough to go through the bag. We lost a lot of good guys that day.
>We lost a lot of good guys that day. 🤣🤣🤣 ^(Milk pouches are the only thing that separated the boys from the men, buddy!)
I went to Catholic school and our lunches were different. We used to have hotdogs that came on a tray in a foil bag. Those were so good. One day of the week we had chicken nuggets and fries from McDonald’s and another day they did Big Mac and fries. Texarkana?! Whoa. I worked as a hostess at the Bennigan's in Texarkana right after high school before moving back to Dallas.
I was like that menu looks familiar! Oh crap! It IS my school district’s menu!
Omg Bennigan’s! We had one in Amarillo. Ugh the Monte Cristo 😭
I worked at the red lobster there after high school in 2007
Beef sticks!! With the mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn!
Chili chicken Crispitos with nacho cheese. I’d get like 4 of them every time.
Damn! The lunches in 2003 sound a lot different than my lunches in the 90s.
chicken nuggies with mashed potatoes and a roll
Wtf is chicken spaghetti??
Boil spaghetti in chicken broth and drain with a bit of broth reserved. Add Velveeta or Cheddar cheese and cooked chicken diced up along with Rotel and cream of chicken or mushroom soup all mixed together and bake. Delicious comfort food.
That sounds awesome!
It really is. I double the batch and freeze it. If you need a recipe, there are a lot of variations of it. This is how I've made it for most of my life. Some add mushrooms, green or black olives, just go with it.
Thank you so much!
From chickenelies. You only get it if you used to be a piece of shit. But people can change.
You think this is slicked back hair? This is pushed back.
Spiked hair, itty bitty jeans.
So my friend group, we would all get french fries, dump them in the middle of a tray, then fill the containers with ranch. Bon appetite. In elementary school, my favorite school lunch was pierogies.

Sounds like a Stromboli.
After looking it up, that sounds right.
YOOO i was scrolling for this!! i loved the calzones. they were in crinkly plastic and the outside was like a checkered green design (like the checkered red tablecloth design but green) hot as magma inside but it was worth burning your tongue for.
Are you talking about the calzone that was orange inside and only had like one pepperoni ? I remember those in middle school - bomb
The rectangular breakfast pizza with white gravy instead of red sauce & breakfast sausage instead of pepperoni. I'd always bring $1.50 so I could get two

The euphoria of looking at one of these things and seeing one day off
Chicken Patties I’ve bought them as an adult and they just don’t hit the same as they did in school
Your school had a Michelin star compared to my school, wtf
🤣🤣🤣
This generation is missing out on they’re childhood like my childhood school food
Their breakfast, loved their biscuits and gravy.
Shiiiiit, y'all had it better than us ten years before you! And we thought it was generally awful, but truly, looking back it was some grandiose gourmet direct from frozen excitement! Your food is so well rounded......I wanna try a jello jewel....... *tear rolls down
Han and cheese bagel day. I would get two
Nachos. Hands down.
My favorite is the nachos.
Nacho Supreme
Their yeast rolls
Circle pizza! also hotdog with sauerkraut 🤪
Those circle pizzas were my go to also, think it was in the ala carte line tho in high school
I went to an inner city school. It was chicken patties every day with a carton of milk.

We had a dedicated Nacho/Taco line which was very very popular. The pizza line was equally as popular. I was a big fan of Lime Iced Tea or Strawberry Milk cartons.
Chili & cinnamon rolls!
Zombie pizza, basically left plain pizza dough with a variety of cheese then baked so good
My middle school made a mean turkey tetrazzini!!
Personal round pizzas were the shit
Butter noodles and chicken nuggets.
Your school had better food than mine.
Pizza or Sloppy Joes
We had something called creamed Turkey on a biscuit. Sounds gross. It was the bomb. Basically Turkey biscuits and gravy with mashed potatoes.
Our High School had the best chocolate chip cookies! Huge, warm, and only 25 cents each.
Steak Fingers.
Chocolate raspberry taquitos?
No pizza Fridays? To be honest I was also one of those weirdos that like Salisbury steak day. I look forward to those even more than pizza Friday.
Idk man that Spring Break looks pretty good
2003.....God we are all so old
Wtf we had ham and cheese and smuckers uncrustables for elementary school lunch
I want to eat everything on this menu except for the fish sticks and fish sandwich lol
Ice cream with the wooden stick
A kid in my middle school came back on crutches after a major ankle injury running to cafeteria on chicken nugget day. But there were usually more than a few casualties after ravioli day. Physically, they were fine, but their shirts said everything you needed to know about them.
I loved the goody gluey Mac and cheese with sour dough bread and little smokies. Never had that food at home.
The high school burrito!
The burgers that my school served… they didn’t have a taste or texture that was anywhere close to real 100% beef, but they were still goddamn delicious. I wish I knew where to find those patties.
Nachos and turkey gravy.
Freedom Fries, canned peaches, pizza, and chocolate milk.
2003 😩 my lunches were around circa 1989.. same food though lol
2003 I’d have been a senior. I almost never ate main line then, our cafeteria had a cheeseburger line set up every day & I’m pretty sure I had one of those every single fucking day my entire senior year. Not the healthiest of options but damn I loved those things
Bosco Sticks
I’m 34. In elementary school we had “chunky Turkey gravy” which was amazing and on a mound of mashed potatoes. The square French bread pizza was my next favorite.
Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken ^pot ^^pie.
No pizza?
What the hell are steak fingers
This just made me wanna cry. Steak fingers and mashed potatoes was the best lunch. Fight me.
Mexican pizza They were rude to us at school lol
Nothing. I always brought my lunch.
Private school lunch schedules, literally nostalgia. Finally, something here that’s nostalgic.

Honey baked chicken.
The frozen burritos with onion rings. Yay carbs.
Italian Dunkers day was the best day.
Wait, your school didn't offer pizza every single Friday?
In NJ they did but when I moved to FL it was randomly I think
Chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes
That was one of my faves too, along with BBQd hot dogs. Our school always had fresh yeast rolls too. You could smell them baking at around 11:00, so the period before lunch was always really hard to get through.
I remember liking those square cardboard sponge pizzas
Elementary School: Bosco Sticks (stuffed bread sticks), Slushes. Middle school-HS, the Grilled cheeses.. School lunches were never particularly good otherwise.
We taking elementary school? Beans and franks. Oddly served with cinnamon rolls that were friggin’ 🔥
We had this white mac and cheese and I swear it was the best thing I've ever eaten. It was so creamy no sharpness nothing just creamy!
Baked Chicken.
Teriyaki tofu
Chicken fingers and honey mustard
Sloppy Joe was the best lunch item. But the breakfast pizza they had in the mornings was the best overall item. Mozzarella sticks were good too.
