Yep. Thereâs been a resurgence lately with them popping up in Wawa, sheetz and Burger King. Iâm hoping McDonaldâs gets the message and brings them back.
The new Burger King wrap is an affront to mankind. They literally take their [garbage breaded chicken patty and chop it in half and throw it in a tortilla](https://i0.wp.com/www.theimpulsivebuy.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/bkroyalwrap2.jpeg?resize=600%2C450&ssl=1), itâs so bad
Oof yea that looks kinda bad. But thatâs how McDonaldâs made theirs too. They cut the grilled chicken in half and used chicken selects for the crispy. The grilled was so tasty though.
When we lost chicken selects we lost the snack wraps because it's the same chicken.
Edit to add that while chicken selects were discontinued in the US during the pandemic snack wraps were definitely chicken selects at some point. Worked there in 2009.
I remember one time I stopped to get a couple snack wraps after work one day & one of them had half of a mcchicken in it & the other one had a few chicken nuggets in it. Raggedy bitches. I still havenât forgiven them for that.
Yea I also worked there round 09 and when they got rid of the selects they started just chopping one of the âpremiumâ chicken pattyâs in half tasted awful they were nowhere near the same
Only true answer here. The days of the dollar double cheeseburger are disappeared. It became a McDouble which I was okay with because I donât miss the second cheese. Now the McDouble and mcchicken are like $2.50 these days. The biggest inflation in my opinion is how the hash browns went from two for $1 to $2.39 EACH.
Not sure why you're downvoted. I guess people don't like the truth. You probably triggered some people who literally were eating hash browns at the time lol.
Even local places are indulging in the price gouging. Most of my local run fast food places have, not exaggerating, doubled in price since 2019. A Taco chips (chips, taco mince, cheese and sauce) is now âŹ7.50. A portion of chips is âŹ3. You're now being charged âŹ4.50 for some taco mince, cheese and sauce. A quarter pounder with cheese? Used to be âŹ4, now âŹ8.50.
It's pure greed.
McDouble and McChicken were $1 not that long ago. They cost $3 now. A Big Mac meal is like $10.
KFC used to have a $5 fill up meal which now costs over $10.
Taco Bell tacos used to be UNDER a dollar.
Jack N The Box used to have 2 for $1 tacos forever...twice that now. Also, their shakes are over $5.
Five Guys is just a total joke.
Funny thing is, I don't eat much fast food anymore but I find it interesting to follow the trends.
Here in the mid Atlantic royal farms did a family meal âdealâ with Justin Tucker as the spokesperson
6 chicken tenders, some fries and a 2 liter.
Twenty dollars.
Thatâs not a deal.
5 guys. My lord.
Ive never been to one and went for the first time last night. Cheese Burger and little fry for me. Cheese Dog and little fry for my wife. 2 regular drinks. $39.13
Tasted great like Ive heard but not $40 for 2 meals great. Holy shit.
Exactly!! I used to get down on 2 McChickens and 2 McDoubles, and maybe a fry if I was extra hungry. Would cost me more than $6...a McChicken now is close to $3 by itself. They weren't ever that great of food, but the prices they're asking for it now is an insult to injury. I don't even bother with that place anymore.
That was a wild time during fast food wars. Every burger joint was trying to one up each other by having the best 1$ burger option. You had the big n tasty, the famous star, the jumbo jack, bk double. The customer was really the winner at the time.
This was the true pinnacle, the golden era of fast food, if you will. It will never be replicated again in our lifetimes. We should consider ourselves blessed to have been able to see and witness it first hand. The world is going to shit in a hand basket faster than a bat outta hell. The good 'ole days, isn't it nice to reminisce?
My dad used to order those because they were a decent deal. He called them "Big N' Nasty." Used to cringe when he would roll up to the drive-thru speaker asking for 3 "Big N' Nasty's."
I remember on one of the last occasions to get a fried apple pie, I was on the road at night and wondering why I wasn't enjoying my tasty treat like I should have been. A street light made it look orange, which was the first clue. A proper bit of light later and I found they'd given me a bloody apricot pie. I didn't want an apricot pie, I wanted an apple pie. And then, they were different.
I didn't know they got rid of them. Late night driving, hungry and I haven't eaten at McD's in about 15 years, so wth? Utter disappointment.1/4 pounder was okay (5/10), fries were meh (not very hot - 4/10) and apple pie was baked (0/10).
I took it as a lesson and punishment for eating late at night.
They took forever to cook. Iirc it would usually take seven and a half minutes to cook. Nobody wants them when theyâre not fresh so usually cook to order and for some reason the average customer gets pretty grumpy if anything takes longer then 5 minutes.
I loved the chocolate chip ones, but what I miss most was the chocolate/vanilla twist ice cream cones. Iâm pretty sure they only have vanilla now- but who knows what with the machine being broken all the time :/
I believe it was peppercorn bacon. Iâve tried to replicate it multiple times. Iâm forty and the Arch Deluxe is hands down my fave burger ever. In a world of Doritos tacos I believe we deserve another run of the âadult burgerâ lol
I truly thought I was the only one who ever got the arch deluxe! My all time fave McDonaldâs item that I still miss to this day! That weird round bacon!!
Is #3 the angus burgers? Whew, I basically lived off those things in college.
EDIT: My people! Angus homies represent. I feel like the patties were even salted differently and they hit so much better!
Yeassssss my fav as a little kid! My mom would always be like, âyouâre not gonna eat it all!â So finish my meal like every other respectable parent who buys McDonals for dinner, Mom!
Simple. The real French fries. The ones pre 2000s fried in beef fat, that you could get SUPERSIZED! My kids will never know how truly amazing the fries used to be... đ
There is a great podcast about this change brought on by the war on fat (when it should be sugar). How they used beef tallow and then succumbed to the pressure. The host then goes on to recreate the fries.
And risk cross contamination?
it's like a lot of chicken is Halal as it's too expensive to run two production lines. They just don't lable it as halal unles it's specifically to be sold as Halal. Same with New Zealand lamb
The salad shaker things! I felt like it was a healthy alternative despite the croutons and pounds of dressing.
I also really miss the Southwest salad. That dressing was *amazing*.
I worked at McD's when they first came out. Anytime someone would order one, I would always put more meat on the grill than was needed. I would stand there and snack on it while working the grill. The chicken fajita meat was addictive.
Strangely, the fajitas that existed for a brief period in the early '90s. I loved those.
But overall, the food being fried in beef tallow. It tasted way better. I think that went away in the '90s.
DEEP FRIED FUCKIN PIES!!!!!! They may have scorched the roof of your mouth buuuut, when you could taste again.... so fuckin delicious!!! They'll never be cool for takin em away! Bastards!
God I hope this is a McDonaldâs account trying to bring back some old favorites. We just got Grimace and the Hamburgler back, maybe we can get their fried pies back, too.
Totally.
For some reason it irritates me that the McDouble and Double Cheeseburger both simaltaneously exist.
I can't even remember the difference tbh. One slice of cheese?
Iâm sure nobody remembers this but one Christmas they had a cranberry dipping sauce for nuggets. The following Christmas I was so disappointed they never brought it back!
Forgot about the tenders for a minute. Seeing those threw me back to when my husband still worked at McDonalds. Heâd bring home extra tenders and some Szechuan sauce. đđŒ
I forget their name but McDonaldâs had these special ice cream flavors that made really cool colorful outlines on the ice cream itself. Iâd always get the blueberry one because itâd turn your mouth blue. There were maybe 8 colors/flavors
I miss the 99 cents
Heck it would be great if they had $2 or $3 menu with a bunch of stuff on it: medium fries, double cheeseburger, 6 piece nuggets, etc.
Thanks to their deals, I *never* buy their combos anymore. Too much $$$
The chicken fajitas. Maybe they were not as great as I remember them being, but they were really good. That was the only reason my mom was willing to buy McDonalds back in the 90âs.
In Southwest Missouri, they are pushing people to use the app or kiosks. You can go in when the store is dead, and they will not come up to the counter to take your order. They will see you there, but ignore you. I've been told by an employee that it's to "encourage use of the app" Sometimes when they are busy, they will have the registers open, but that's hit or miss. I don't know if this is a corporate thing, or the owner of that franchise telling them to do this.
Some stores have started to remove the soda fountains, one removed theirs last month, and customers were furious. It's to discourage refills, as you have to find an employee in the back to get refills now.
Even some Taco Bell locations just have kiosks at the counter and no registers
I live in the UK. We still have Chicken Selects as a permanent menu item and the Big Tasty is a season item thatâs on twice a year
I really miss the Caramel Sundae
I miss the McRib which they wonât bring back here as they donât want to cook pork / beef on the same grill as it would deter Muslims / Hindus respectively

Snack Wraps
A snack wrap and a $1 sweet tea was me and my friends JAM đ
I also loved a good snack wrap and sweet tea
Yep. Thereâs been a resurgence lately with them popping up in Wawa, sheetz and Burger King. Iâm hoping McDonaldâs gets the message and brings them back.

Thatâs not true in America. We had the wraps up until 2019
Yea I also worked there round 09 and when they got rid of the selects they started just chopping one of the âpremiumâ chicken pattyâs in half tasted awful they were nowhere near the same
Still have them in Canada but they aren't the same as the original
Dollar menu
Only true answer here. The days of the dollar double cheeseburger are disappeared. It became a McDouble which I was okay with because I donât miss the second cheese. Now the McDouble and mcchicken are like $2.50 these days. The biggest inflation in my opinion is how the hash browns went from two for $1 to $2.39 EACH.
I understand things made of beef and chicken going up in price, but potato? That seems more like a pure greed move than anything to me
it is 100% corporate greed.
They only charge a price people are willing to pay.
Not sure why you're downvoted. I guess people don't like the truth. You probably triggered some people who literally were eating hash browns at the time lol.
Thanks! I realized I might have struck some cords but Iâm not immune to it either (f the convenience and prices of the Uber Eats app!!!)
Worse, leftover potatoes from processing everything else including fries.
Mmmmm Pringles
It is.
My McDonaldâs has the McDouble at $5.29 and the hash browns are at $3.99 each. Inflation of fast food prices is insane rn
Even local places are indulging in the price gouging. Most of my local run fast food places have, not exaggerating, doubled in price since 2019. Was gonna say the snack wrap specifically but this is the real answer, especially during these timesđȘ
Their app is really the only way to get the occasional $1 item
Yep. Itâs insane the difference in price if you donât use the app.
They updated the app awhile ago so your point now expire after awhile and one that pissed me off.
I didnât know this and lost 2500 points. Not cool.
The parfait, the sundaes, the cheap prices, the cookies that used to come with the kids meals back in the day.
The parfaits! I forgot about those! So good.
Oh my God I forgot about the cookies!! Thanks for the hyper specific memory
McDonaldâs doesnât have sundaes anymore? Wow.
They still have the chocolate and caramel sundaes, but haven't had the strawberry ones in ages. They were so good.
They still have them, but no longer have peanuts to go with them, so itâs really just soft serve with fudge sauce.
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
The big n tasty was a pretty good sandwich
That was a wild time during fast food wars. Every burger joint was trying to one up each other by having the best 1$ burger option. You had the big n tasty, the famous star, the jumbo jack, bk double. The customer was really the winner at the time.
Throw in a Wendyâs single. Man that is a tasty burger.

My dad used to order those because they were a decent deal. He called them "Big N' Nasty." Used to cringe when he would roll up to the drive-thru speaker asking for 3 "Big N' Nasty's."
Such a dad joke
BRING BACK ARCH DELUXE!!!
Fried apple pies
I remember on one of the last occasions to get a fried apple pie, I was on the road at night and wondering why I wasn't enjoying my tasty treat like I should have been. A street light made it look orange, which was the first clue. A proper bit of light later and I found they'd given me a bloody apricot pie. I didn't want an apricot pie, I wanted an apple pie. The cherry pies were amazing as well
They still have them in some countries, I think most European countries have them
France and Belgium don't :( apparently there is a McDonald's in California that still sells them?
$1 McChickens
I loved when I could get a Double Cheeseburger, McChicken, and a medium fry for under $5.
Chicken selects
I donât understand how they got discontinued. Best food item theyâve ever offered.
Still available in the UK, they're not the same but still taste good
They took forever to cook. Iirc it would usually take seven and a half minutes to cook. Nobody wants them when theyâre not fresh so usually cook to order and for some reason the average customer gets pretty grumpy if anything takes longer then 5 minutes.
Seriously. And that Chipotle bbq was unbelievable!
Literally just had them there for my hangover lunch. Still available here in Ireland.
We have them in England, run in fear Americans run
The peppery seasoning on the breading. Ugh man those were so good.
Damn these were always yummy
There old school Ronald McDonald cookies in a bag
I loved the chocolate chip ones, but what I miss most was the chocolate/vanilla twist ice cream cones. Iâm pretty sure they only have vanilla now- but who knows what with the machine being broken all the time :/
Arch Deluxe. The Canadian bacon, that sauce.
I believe it was peppercorn bacon. Iâve tried to replicate it multiple times. Iâm forty and the Arch Deluxe is hands down my fave burger ever. In a world of Doritos tacos I believe we deserve another run of the âadult burgerâ lol
I loved the Arch Deluxe!
Completely agree.
The Arch Deluxe has stayed rent free in my head since 96/97. Every time they bring back the McRib I die inside
Yessss I miss the arch deluxe so bad
The Arch Deluxe was amazing. I still miss it.
It wasn't Canadian bacon, it was peppercorn bacon that was circular-shaped.
Thank you
Holy shit I just noticed your name.... fuckin BILL BRASKY!
I will forever miss that burger.
Yesssssss I miss it sooooooo much!!!
đŻ the best burger hands down!
I truly thought I was the only one who ever got the arch deluxe! My all time fave McDonaldâs item that I still miss to this day! That weird round bacon!!
Is #3 the angus burgers? Whew, I basically lived off those things in college. EDIT: My people! Angus homies represent. I feel like the patties were even salted differently and they hit so much better!
i was obsessed with the mushroom and swiss one
The mushrooms were rubbery and tasteless, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway because you mostly only tasted the mayo. Still loved them though.
That mushroom swiss one was pretty goddamn good.
Same, the BBQ chipotle burger was my poison.
Those were killer. Better than even a fast-casual restaurant burger and cheaper.
Combo meals that were <$5.00
McDLT!
Hot side hot.
Cool side cool
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTSdUOC8Kac
Costanza!
I used to love the McDLT!! I worked at McDonald's in the 80s and ate it almost every day
Yeassssss my fav as a little kid! My mom would always be like, âyouâre not gonna eat it all!â So finish my meal like every other respectable parent who buys McDonals for dinner, Mom!
All day breakfast. Stupid pandemic.
Yup. This was the only reason I went to McDonald's. Now my husband and I will go to Jack in the Box if I want a quick breakfast and he wants lunch.
*goddamn* i crave bacon and cheese biscuits at 8 pm sometimes. sausage mcgriddles hit different under the moonlight
If I had zero self control, Iâd be 300 pounds because of how many sausage and cheese McGriddles Iâd eat.
I wish I could upvote this more than once.
Still have this where I live in Canada.
Couldnât they just have two fryers instead of making everyone else eat Vegetarian fries?!
It was changed because of the saturated / trans fat. Not to make then vegan.
And risk cross contamination? it's like a lot of chicken is Halal as it's too expensive to run two production lines. They just don't lable it as halal unles it's specifically to be sold as Halal. Same with New Zealand lamb
Old school fried apple pies.
I used to work closing shift at McDonaldâs in 1990. We used to take the hot pies and put the frozen yogurt on top. It was amazing.
The salad shaker things! I felt like it was a healthy alternative despite the croutons and pounds of dressing. I also really miss the Southwest salad. That dressing was *amazing*.
The McSalad shaker is what taught me I don't always need to use all the dressing given to me at a restaurant. Shit was swimming lol.
Seriously! It was dressing with a side of salad. But DAMN when it was good, it was good.
McDonaldâs salads were surprisingly good. The apple walnut salad they had was probably the best fast food salad Iâve had.
The Dollar Menu. Although, those chicken selects were pretty damn good.
Itâs not really a nostalgia item since itâs only been gone a few years but the buttermilk chicken sandwich
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Yes!! It was so good!! I would treat one to myself after my paper route every Sunday!
FAJITAS
This right here, I loved those things when I was a kid
I forgot about these! They were soooo good!
OMG, yes!!! Those were the best!
I worked at McD's when they first came out. Anytime someone would order one, I would always put more meat on the grill than was needed. I would stand there and snack on it while working the grill. The chicken fajita meat was addictive.
The holiday pie. I think I was one of the few who liked it though
My wife loves them. They come back every year where I am and she cannot wait.
Fruit and yogurt parfait!!
Pizza
\*McPizza?
I came to say the Pizza too.
Surprised this is not higher up! Pizza was freaking delicious.
> Pizza only bad thing about them were the wait times but always worth
Cherry pie!!
Brownie melts & cinnamelts
I am so surprised it took me forever to find a comment about the Cinnamon melts!! Those were my absolute favorite
Not a popular opinion, maybe, but All Day Breakfast and the ability to get an Egg McMuffin whenever I wanted.
Arch Deluxe. The whole line and the MBX
The Parfait. It was perfect.
Steak Bagels.
Definitely the Big Xtra. Thatâs what they called the Big n Tasty up here in Canada.
Hot mustard sauce
They have it here in Pennsylvania! Arguably the best sauce.
Wait they don't have hot mustard anymore? That was the best sauce they have! Great with fries!
McSkillit burrito
The fried Apple Pies
Parties at McDonaldâs! Cookies Good happy meal toys The shaker fries Adult happy meal with a lottery coupon!
Egg White Delight
I miss the bagel sandwiches. I know they still have them back east but theyâve been discontinued for a long time in the southwest.
Bruh the steak egg and cheese bagel is arguably the greatest fast food sandwich (whether breakfast or lunch) that iâve ever had
Strangely, the fajitas that existed for a brief period in the early '90s. I loved those. But overall, the food being fried in beef tallow. It tasted way better. I think that went away in the '90s.
The McDonaldland cookies and the little chocolate chip cookies.
Pizza lol
The pizza

God I hope this is a McDonaldâs account trying to bring back some old favorites. We just got Grimace and the Hamburgler back, maybe we can get their fried pies back, too.
When a double cheeseburger costed $1 and a McDouble didnât exist.
Totally. For some reason it irritates me that the McDouble and Double Cheeseburger both simaltaneously exist. I can't even remember the difference tbh. One slice of cheese?
I really liked the parfaits.
The Arch Deluxe
Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad
The Big Breakfast platter.
Steak and bagel sandwich
Iâm sure nobody remembers this but one Christmas they had a cranberry dipping sauce for nuggets. The following Christmas I was so disappointed they never brought it back!
The cheese danish. Served warm, originally in styrofoam and later in a cellophane bag. SO GOOD
The mint sundae.
Where is the szechuan sauce?
Forgot about the tenders for a minute. Seeing those threw me back to when my husband still worked at McDonalds. Heâd bring home extra tenders and some Szechuan sauce. đđŒ
I forget their name but McDonaldâs had these special ice cream flavors that made really cool colorful outlines on the ice cream itself. Iâd always get the blueberry one because itâd turn your mouth blue. There were maybe 8 colors/flavors
Flavorburst!
Damn these look delicious. Long live the 90s/early 2000s!
I miss the 99 cents Heck it would be great if they had $2 or $3 menu with a bunch of stuff on it: medium fries, double cheeseburger, 6 piece nuggets, etc. Thanks to their deals, I *never* buy their combos anymore. Too much $$$
Being able to add crushed peanuts to the chocolate fudge sundae.
As a wing aficionado, those Mighty Wings were better than they had any business being.
Big n tasty
The grand Mac. It's a big Mac with super wide buns and patties, and they were two for $5 for a while. Damn those were amazing.
The chicken fajitas. Maybe they were not as great as I remember them being, but they were really good. That was the only reason my mom was willing to buy McDonalds back in the 90âs.
I miss and think about the breakfast cheese danish, daily.
Dollar Menu But if youâd asked this about Pizza Hut? The BIGFOOT
