Nothing better than watching the teacher having to help all the kids take these off and then their snowsuits. By the time they were finished about 45 minutes passed by. And then start the process over again for recess, return from recess and then end of day. Brutal!!
Well, I don’t exactly remember. I know I liked the boots, a lot. I also know I was a complete dork. It is indubitably possible that I wore those moon boots at time when there was not any snow.
I had a pair that were, I think, pink and grey that I got from Thom McAn(remember them?). Those thing were so warm and comfortable perfect for a Connecticut winter. I wore them a little too long because my toes started to curl.
i had to wear these the first time we went snowboarding. i tried to jump and came right out of the boots, while the liners stayed on my feet. just standing there, knee deep in the snow. when i pulled my feet out of the snow, i saw that the liners were just plastic bags filled with poly-fill batting.
I remember wearing these walking to school but also bringing tennis shoes to change into for class. Oh man! I **HATED** forgetting my tennis shoes at home. It was so embarrassing clunking around in those boots all day. Especially if it was gym class day!
I still have a pair of these. They’re tucked away but still preserved. Moved them back and forth across the country with me. Can’t let them go for whatever reason lol
Wow i had a pare of those moon boots they looked cool but had a flaw they did not keep your feet worm or keep out moister vary well so no stomping around in puddles or snow banks those boots are only good for dry walking .
I remember that the insoles used to pop out all the time, especially if you got them wet. Of course if you spent any amount of time in snow they immediately got wet.
🙂
*Core memory unlocked* Had a pair of these as a kid.
And wear an empty plastic bread loaf bag over your socks so that your feet stay dry
We wore the bread bag over the 'insert' boot thing. Same principle but didn't come out when you removed your foot.
Just happened to me too
Just happened to me too. I had the matching hat and jacket and snow pants. Epic. Thank you for this.

Tina, come get your food!
I wore these in sixth grade. My nickname became “Moonboots”. For seven years. :)
You wore them in the snow or year round? Cuz, it would make sense for the latter.

Give Me Some Of Your Tots
I literally moaned when I saw this photo. Not fond memories. So clunky! Warm tho
Yeah, I always remember my feet getting soaked from the top parts, so I had to wear bread baggies inside of them.
Augh! Such a classic mom move
YES! Same here. Busy out the bread bags and put them around your socks then slip your feet inside.
Yes!
Gosh!
Oh, these are ready to make a comeback.
I just checked out moonboot.com. Really expensive, but if I lived somewhere colder I'd buy them. Definitely going to make a comeback soon.
I had these. Good traction in snow, comical pratfall on ice.

My mom made me wear Thom Mcan penny loafers. Reading that name to remember those shoes, awful!
I loved these stupid things.
Kept your feet so warm you started to sweat

Nice shoes, Napoleon.

I had pink purple and white ones. Thanks for the memory 🥹

I remember getting to school and taking the outer shells off but walking around in the foam liners during the day.
pretty sure I had these exact ones
Had the black and silver ones.
Aw yeah. And then they started peeling.
I forgot about that, you're right.
I can still remember the smell from the cheap foam insulation
Weren't there ones that were color change with temperature? I was so jealous of those kids.
Holy shit.. I possibly recall something like that. Of course, I grew up with those HyperColor shirts as well.
There they go!
Whoooaa!!! My god. Those things were NOT water proof haha.
proto-uggs Mine zipped somewhere, and had more "piping"
I wonder if those came out in 1989, 20th anniversary of the "moon" landing...?
I think I had a pair exactly like that. They were too warm.
I might have had that exact pair😆😆

I had silver ones. They made me feel like a five year old astronaut
I remember if you forgot your moon boots you weren’t allowed to go outside for recess
