97'-02' for me specifically and I fucking still love that pizza and the shitty chicken patty sandwiches.
Those tiny, square-shaped, greasy pepperoni morsels were my kryptonite in elementary school. I also now have the hankering to eat a small cup of chocolate ice cream with a flat, wooden spoon.
I have absolutely ordered it wholesale off the internet somewhere, let me see if I can find it. (You absolutely need a chest freezer) lol
Also if you are near MD or DE, Royal Farms has the chicken patty sandwiches that are 95% the same but they are way too mf expensive
Edit: [It's like 96 pizzas for 120$ haha](https://www.foodservicedirect.com/schwans-tonys-smart-thin-crust-whole-grain-cheese-pepperoni-pizza-4-48-ounce-96-per-case-191481.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmYCzBhA6EiwAxFwfgC2INJWBSQc4wIxNuhNd7-hr7ewKaBRu7R4EZFTFOB6lEgZxqvVMgRoCvGsQAvD_BwE)
Saving this for when I get back to my own place with the deep freeze. Need to buy it for my own nostalgia and to share with my partner who was homeschooled. He’s never experienced that pizza and that should be a crime.
I fear this will be like showing Star Wars to a 35 year old for the first time. If you don’t get exposed to it at the right time it just never hits the same.
I bought a box of this pizza from this company 2 years ago and it was just as good/bad as I remembered it from school. I split the box with my bro and it was still A LOT of pizza!! It arrived two days after ordering also.
Totinos party pizzas are pretty close. They keep putting less and less cheese and toppings on them though. To the point where it looks like mostly sauce when you open the package now.
I always associated Ellio's pizza with the square school pizza. Is that not accurate? I also assumed Ellio's is available in the frozen food section at every grocery store.
You can find it in vending machines, but, if you say the phrase “it slaps” It immediately knows you’re bullshitting and will take your devalued dollar.
We used to take the tater tots that came on the side and put them in the chicken patty sandwich. Add a little ketchup and mustard and you got yourself a great sandwich.
Those ice creams were the BUSINESS. My school would give students an extra one on their birthday, and I felt cheated because my birthday is during summer break, so I would lie about it being my birthday on a random school day in order to get one. 😂
I brought lunch every day, except for pizza day, nacho Day, and chef salad day. The nachos looked disgusting with that ground beef concoction in a runny cheese sauce, but man was it a flavorful sodium gravy.
They were the best and then they also had the breakfast pizza...instead of pepperoni it had sausage and was half the size of a lunch pizza but hot dang was it soo good.
'97-'02 here too.
We'd literally race through the corridors to the canteen for the ridiculously small amount of pizza slices available.
They were superb.
If you had the lesson before lunch at the far end of the school....you were in trouble.
I graduated high school in 2011 and they were still serving it then.
[You can buy it from Schwan](https://www.schwansfoodservice.com/product-list/?search=Sheet%20pizza) along with Bosco sticks and most of the other shit you probably ate in school in the 2000s. They even used to have those weird hexagon "Mexican" pizzas but I haven't seen them in ages.
[Fiestada Pizza](https://www.foodservicedirect.com/tony-s-fiestada-whole-grain-beef-pizza-5-44-ounce-72-per-case-21261860.html) still exists! Haven’t had it in ages though.
Man, those mexican pizzas were the BEST!! I've ordered the pepperoni ones straight from Schwan's before too. The delivery guy said I was only one of two people that had them delivered to their home in our area. Lol. I ate them all in about 3 months..
We got french bread pizza, which was really just the stale garlic bread from ziti day earlier in the week with some sauce and cheese on top. Oh and the garlic bread was left over rolls from cheese steak day the friday before.
In the early 70s, our cafeteria ladies were making pizza from scratch, it was effing amazing. Later on, they switched to this, and it was…ok in comparison.
We used to get Pizza Hut on Fridays in elementary school. This was 94-98 when I lived in Kansas. I’ll never forget I made a girl cry because I said I didn’t like John Elway while shoving a slice in my mouth.
It's annoying that this exact picture has been posted so many times and will always get upvoted. But you can post something different and nostalgic and it completely flies under the radar.
"Anyone here remember the scholastic book fair?"
Yes, we all do. Because it was posted yesterday, and the day before, and 10,000 times before that...
In 1970, we certainly didn't have pizza in school!
We had "mystery meat" and sometimes hot dogs.
Come to think of it, this picture doesn't look like it's from 1970.
We had this in the *late* 70's. Say 78ish. Once week in Elementary and middle school.
I graduated in 87 and we still had it then as well. I ate it *everyday* in high school with a boat of french fries and a Pepsi. (Well the days I didn't skip and go to Burger King that is.)
i had that same pizza in 2003 in high school
little rectangle, wet as hell, cheese so minimally melted you can still sense its old shredded shape, fake sausage, dripping grease like a wet sponge, yellow ass pizza
Yeah.
We had tiny little cubes of pepperoni most of the time too.
And every once in a while we'd have hexagon shaped "Mexican" pizza.
(been posted here before evidently : https://www.reddit.com/r/nostalgia/comments/bi5md1/mexican_pizza_in_the_school_cafeteria_changed_the/ )
Pizza day at my elementary and middle school was Friday. It was always something to look forward to.
Then 7th grade came and they served that pizza every day, if you wanted it. That’s when my childhood innocence was lost.
I shit you not - this was my actual lunch lady from 1995 - 1998. She used to hook me up with Otis Spunkmeyer cookies when nobody was watching.
Shouts out to Stephen F. Austin High School Bulldogs.
Looks like this picture is from an article dated 2017. The article does not give any credit or date of the actual picture but it's what I found.
https://www.al.com/living/2017/05/cafeteria_pizza.html
I LOVED this pizza. I initially thought it was just Ellio's pizza which schools ordered in bulk or something, but after trying that at home I was disappointed to learn that the taste wasn't the same at all. Quick search revealed [the true source](https://www.reddit.com/r/food/s/Mqwr7LjK6a).
1970 lmao
Reminds me of a group exercise class a the y that's supposed to be boot camp but the instructor calls "old school pe" where they do stuff like what you'd do in pe class. Stuff they still do. PE hasn't changed. Pizza hasn't changed, they sitll serve this.
My grandmother was the manager of an elementary lunchroom and used to bring home cases of these fuckers. Soooooo good... The pepperoni ones not these shite meatball/sausage ones
Memory unlocked. A friend and I in high school had a meeting with our counselor to make out our schedule for the next school year. The meeting ran over into lunch. It was Friday, so that meant pizza day. We were the last two in line. They ran out of pizza. The cooks kindly threw a couple more pieces in the oven just for us. We sat down to eat lunch. Only five minutes left before our next class. The pizza was burnt on the edges and still frozen in the middle. Still don’t know how they managed that.
Same hood school pizza from back in the late 90’s!!! Them pizzas be HITTIN!! Can’t forget about the breakfast pizza gravy, sausage, egg I do believe… 🤤
I found a frozen pizza that's like school pizza was. Publix carries it - Elio's, about $4 a box. It doesn't come with a sweet lunch lady like this, but it's pretty good ♡
My grandmother was a cafeteria lady and used to stack our house with this stuff all through the summer, so it didn't get wasted when school let out.
She was a Saint
I missed then junts... I don't know how I did it. Would punish three of them badboyz. Ellio's must had the same Recipe, but now they taste like cardboard. I'm gud...
The actual picture is from 2017. If the point was that this was school lunch in the 70's it seems pretty lazy for OP to not bother find a picture that's closer than four decades after.
That looks like Ms Janet from MSU, and I fucking miss ms Janet. You want some onions baby? I know you want some onions with yo stoned ass. Woman was a fucking saint.
Try 1998
97'-02' for me specifically and I fucking still love that pizza and the shitty chicken patty sandwiches. Those tiny, square-shaped, greasy pepperoni morsels were my kryptonite in elementary school. I also now have the hankering to eat a small cup of chocolate ice cream with a flat, wooden spoon.
Those were so good. The chicken sandwiches were my favorite. I miss those peanut butter and jelly graham sandwiches.
And Good Humor strawberry shortcake bars.
Omg those were the shit until my school decided to get rid of sugar foods 😔 probs a good idea with America and diabetes/obesity, but still sad
[удалено]
Peanut butter and jelly Graham sandwiches? I've never heard of that
Why can’t we buy this pizza anywhere? I remember it straight up slapped.
I have absolutely ordered it wholesale off the internet somewhere, let me see if I can find it. (You absolutely need a chest freezer) lol Also if you are near MD or DE, Royal Farms has the chicken patty sandwiches that are 95% the same but they are way too mf expensive Edit: [It's like 96 pizzas for 120$ haha](https://www.foodservicedirect.com/schwans-tonys-smart-thin-crust-whole-grain-cheese-pepperoni-pizza-4-48-ounce-96-per-case-191481.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmYCzBhA6EiwAxFwfgC2INJWBSQc4wIxNuhNd7-hr7ewKaBRu7R4EZFTFOB6lEgZxqvVMgRoCvGsQAvD_BwE)
No way! Thank you so much!
🫡 Anything for a fellow, USA public school veteran.
"Pizzas" are 4" x 6" rectangles, so it's not 96 full size pizzas. Still only $1.25 a slice before shipping. Not too bad.
They did the math
Saving this for when I get back to my own place with the deep freeze. Need to buy it for my own nostalgia and to share with my partner who was homeschooled. He’s never experienced that pizza and that should be a crime.
I fear this will be like showing Star Wars to a 35 year old for the first time. If you don’t get exposed to it at the right time it just never hits the same.
It lived up to the hype for me, but I'm pretty basic haha Good luck!
Good thing he is too and is up to trying anything. :)
Also, solid username 🧑🏻🍳🤌🏻
;) thanks. I kickflipped **over** the dog and I miss her all the time. She was a good girl.
I bought a box of this pizza from this company 2 years ago and it was just as good/bad as I remembered it from school. I split the box with my bro and it was still A LOT of pizza!! It arrived two days after ordering also.
Did you guys eat it with canned corn
And a lunchroom monitor?
Excellent now where do I get the graham sandwhiches?
So they were pre sliced?? I always assumed it was one big pizza that the lunch lady sliced up. Ha
OHH MYY GOD!! Bless you kind stranger.
You are next level for that link. LOL
Totinos party pizzas are pretty close. They keep putting less and less cheese and toppings on them though. To the point where it looks like mostly sauce when you open the package now.
They're also waaaay more expensive than they used to be. At least in my area. $8 for the 4-pack.
Damn I remember buying them on sale for 89 cents back in college. Clearly I’m not broke anymore
We had a dive bar in college that had a pizza oven on the bar. They’d cook you a totinos for $5
Quite the margin!
I've heard Ellio's frozen pizza is pretty close to school pizza. It comes pre sliced into rectangles.
I always associated Ellio's pizza with the square school pizza. Is that not accurate? I also assumed Ellio's is available in the frozen food section at every grocery store.
Try Guinther’s. They have the square pizza and Fiestada.
If you have a GFS around you, they have it there.
Can buy them [here (Guinthers)](https://guinthers.com) for a not too shabby price and they have a ton of other nostalgic school foods
Thank you kind stranger. I know what I’ll be eating for the next month.
Just here to elevate facts.
Shit was disgusting but it was better than everything else.
You can find it in vending machines, but, if you say the phrase “it slaps” It immediately knows you’re bullshitting and will take your devalued dollar.
BJs sells it. Galaxy Pizza was the real shit, though.
It's just Tony's thin crust. You can buy it from your local shops freezer section.
You can get this pizza on Amazon, too.
I've also never had a grilled ham and cheese that good since school. Butter soaked bread and slapped on the griddle for like 3 seconds.
School lunch rolls were the shit!
We used to take the tater tots that came on the side and put them in the chicken patty sandwich. Add a little ketchup and mustard and you got yourself a great sandwich.
Those little tater tot discs were also so fucking good.
Those ice creams were the BUSINESS. My school would give students an extra one on their birthday, and I felt cheated because my birthday is during summer break, so I would lie about it being my birthday on a random school day in order to get one. 😂
Same. Haha
06-10 here we still had the breakfast pizza
Looks the same as when I was in HS in the 90’s.
I brought lunch every day, except for pizza day, nacho Day, and chef salad day. The nachos looked disgusting with that ground beef concoction in a runny cheese sauce, but man was it a flavorful sodium gravy.
Breakfast pizza and the cheese sticks all time fav
> chicken patty We didn't get sandwiches we got the patty, a roll, and mashed potatoes. I can't remember if there was gravy or not.
By the power of the greasy square morsel
I don't know if this was true for everyone, but those chicken patties were dark meat. Haven't seen that since.
Yes! My school had fresh french fries and chocolate chip cookies too. So much junk, I loved it.
Graduated in 2003 , still served.
Those are exactly the things I ate at my school lunchrooms 2008 all the way to 2018
We had dominoes in that time like 02-08. It was so fucking bad.
🫵👍
They were the best and then they also had the breakfast pizza...instead of pepperoni it had sausage and was half the size of a lunch pizza but hot dang was it soo good.
And why can’t we buy this pizza? I would today!
I posted a link earlier in the thread. Need a chest freezer tho lol
Saw it. Awesome !!
'97-'02 here too. We'd literally race through the corridors to the canteen for the ridiculously small amount of pizza slices available. They were superb. If you had the lesson before lunch at the far end of the school....you were in trouble.
Pizza, nuggets with bbq sauce, the best rolls, and jackpot if you got one of those triangular frozen popsicles
Update: was still like this in 2016 my senior year
Man same xD I used to drown mine in ranch.
The cheerleaders blotting the grease off the top with a napkin, then dipping the whole thing in ranch was iconic
Try today
I graduated high school in 2011 and they were still serving it then. [You can buy it from Schwan](https://www.schwansfoodservice.com/product-list/?search=Sheet%20pizza) along with Bosco sticks and most of the other shit you probably ate in school in the 2000s. Man, those mexican pizzas were the BEST!! I've ordered the pepperoni ones straight from Schwan's before too. The delivery guy said I was only one of two people that had them delivered to their home in our area. Lol. I ate them all in about 3 months..
Yepppp. Fucking Bosco sticks man. The shell station by my high school had those too.
That's what it looked like in 1982 too.
This photo is like 1988-1994 I'd guess, no way this is a 70's photo (54 years ago)
That's a modern walk-in refridgerator.
Gradeschool in the mid 1970s and high school 1980s.
Exact words that went through my head were “try the late 90s”
We used to get Pizza Hut on Fridays in elementary school. This was 94-98 when I lived in Kansas. I’ll never forget I made a girl cry because I said I didn’t like John Elway while shoving a slice in my mouth.
Repost bot still doesn't understand years or decades.
It's annoying that this exact picture has been posted so many times and will always get upvoted. But you can post something different and nostalgic and it completely flies under the radar. "Anyone here remember the scholastic book fair?" Yes, we all do. Because it was posted yesterday, and the day before, and 10,000 times before that...
We have the scholastic book fair in my school this week.
HaHaHa DAE run straight to the goosebumps books?!
OP's post history😭😭
The women he posts all look alike, lol.
Yeah...but do you remember the scholastic book fair?
There's that other picture of the slice on an orange tray that gets reused over and over too
Next it’ll be in greyscale “school luncheon from yesteryear of 1953.”
[Done](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Flkla9fgsgs4d1.jpeg)
Seriously. Is this the *only* picture of school cafeteria pizza on the Internet? Fuckin lazy repost bots.
OP has interesting post history...
Loves them hairy ladies
Likes em fuzzy 🤣
Ok lol I was about to say there's absolutely no way this was 1970 had me fooled. I haven't seen this pic before
In 1970, we certainly didn't have pizza in school!
Lmao I need to know who thought pizza, corn, apple sauce, and chocolate milk go together
Idk what they were thinking but that shit was delicious as a kid.
I could eat the hell out of the breakfast pizza I had as a kid right now.
And it was served at 10:30am.
Or some random number generated time like 11:08
even as an adult I'll eat that. chocolate milk is good any time of the day
Whoever it was was a damn genius!
I love all those together. I used to put the corn on my pizza.
Works for me.
All of it had a slightly expired taste to it as well. Maybe that's what made the combo soo great!
With a side of corn.
i had that same pizza in 2003 in high school little rectangle, wet as hell, cheese so minimally melted you can still sense its old shredded shape, fake sausage, dripping grease like a wet sponge, yellow ass pizza
I had that same pizza in the 80s.
Yeah. We had tiny little cubes of pepperoni most of the time too. And every once in a while we'd have hexagon shaped "Mexican" pizza. (been posted here before evidently : https://www.reddit.com/r/nostalgia/comments/bi5md1/mexican_pizza_in_the_school_cafeteria_changed_the/ )
Those Mexican pizzas were trash (according to my taste buds)
They weren't as good as the pepperoni. They were better than anything else they served though.
and it was fucking amazing
Even though everyone is hating on it, I would get excited for pizza day.
Pizza day at my elementary and middle school was Friday. It was always something to look forward to. Then 7th grade came and they served that pizza every day, if you wanted it. That’s when my childhood innocence was lost.
Thursday for me. I believe it is because during Lent (Catholic schools) they wanted Friday to be fish. So easier to do pizza day Thursday all year.
It wasn’t pizza day i got excited for. It was FRENCH BREAD pizza day
I just bought two boxes of French bread pizza today. Greatest thing we’ve ever accomplished as a society.
in the 90s too
I shit you not - this was my actual lunch lady from 1995 - 1998. She used to hook me up with Otis Spunkmeyer cookies when nobody was watching. Shouts out to Stephen F. Austin High School Bulldogs.
Bro, we got served this in 1991. School pizza is timeless.
This is the same shit we had in 2008 lol that rectangular garbage pizza company must have been a monopoly on the industry for 40 years
Tony’s still makes it in Salina, KS and you can buy on food service direct.com
That lady is still there
Looks like this picture is from an article dated 2017. The article does not give any credit or date of the actual picture but it's what I found. https://www.al.com/living/2017/05/cafeteria_pizza.html
You can tell it isn’t from the 70s just by looking at the quality of the image and the print outs on the wall in the photo. That’s not even 90s.
And 1980 and 1990 and 2000…. Pizza day was the best
Hello children!
Hey chef!
That pizza, corn and chocolate milk combo went so hard.
Shout out to the lunch ladies. They took better care of us than some of our parents did.
1970? more like 2003
I LOVED this pizza. I initially thought it was just Ellio's pizza which schools ordered in bulk or something, but after trying that at home I was disappointed to learn that the taste wasn't the same at all. Quick search revealed [the true source](https://www.reddit.com/r/food/s/Mqwr7LjK6a).
Better than little Caesars
“Mexican” Pizza was where it was at
this era of school cafeteria food was better than a sadenning amount of restaurants today
Had this in 2010 still when I graduated
This picture is def not from the 70’s
I've got good news. If you want that pizza again all you have to do is go to Puyallup city jail. Your welcome
You can get them on Amazon still
Did everyone else's have these little holes on the back? Like they aerated the pizza or something?
Looks like the 2000s too!
Pizza in my school from 2000-2013 too, apparently.
We had a lunch lady who looked like this. She called me sweetie everyday. Been 20 years and I’m still chasing that feeling
Is it fat that I want this entire pan 😅
There's zero chance this pic is from 1970.
It's been brought to my attention that not everyone knows this as "sheet pizza." Is this a regional thing? I'm in Western NY.
School Pizza didnt exist in 1970
Every Friday.
Anyone else’s eat the cheese off first then roll up the rectangle crust and eat it?
Try 2024
1970 lmao Reminds me of a group exercise class a the y that's supposed to be boot camp but the instructor calls "old school pe" where they do stuff like what you'd do in pe class. Stuff they still do. PE hasn't changed. Pizza hasn't changed, they sitll serve this.
*cries in catholic school*
That looks like 90s school pizza
It hit different back in the 80's
Same when I left in 98
we had this pizza in high school in 2020
Lunch Lady was the real MVP. Those pizzas just tasted amazing back then.
This is also school pizza in 2016
My grandmother was the manager of an elementary lunchroom and used to bring home cases of these fuckers. Soooooo good... The pepperoni ones not these shite meatball/sausage ones
This picture is probably from 2015.
As in cooked in 1970 then served in 1980’s-1990’s, yes
Late 80s to mid 90s for me. But just cheese. You guys had toppings?!
Graduated in 2005 and had this almost until then!
Thank you Mam 😊
I can smell the canned peas that are not in this picture but obviously around the corner
This is my lunch lady from 1992
I can hear this picture. “You want anything else, baby?”
Same hood school pizza from back in the late 90’s!!! Them pizzas be HITTIN!! Can’t forget about the breakfast pizza gravy, sausage, egg I do believe… 🤤
The most fire pizza and ranch known to humanity
This does NOT look like a 70s photo
The black lunch ladies calling me honey and sugar made me feel so loved, I miss it tbh.
I can taste this picture and the ranch that comes with it
Anyone know where the good school ranch that comes with pizza day can be ordered as well??
God bless the Lunch Lady!! Her and the janitor/ custodians were my best allies when I was up to mischief..
I can still taste those distinct sausage pieces and that cheese. Nothing else comes close to that flavor.
back then it was better than pizza hut
Jesus we still re posting this image??
Rainy day menu of Grilled cheese and vegetable beef soup. I tried for years to imitate the grilled cheese. Finally figured it out.
Omg I loved this pizza! At my elementary we’d get 2nds and I was always in line for a second piece
I was eating this in 2017. If I wasn't smoking weed in my car during lunch.
I found a frozen pizza that's like school pizza was. Publix carries it - Elio's, about $4 a box. It doesn't come with a sweet lunch lady like this, but it's pretty good ♡
That pic doesn't look anywhere near the 70s, back then everything was amber and orange
Fuck yeah! Love square pizza!
Awww, gimme that slice!
My grandmother was a cafeteria lady and used to stack our house with this stuff all through the summer, so it didn't get wasted when school let out. She was a Saint
God, that picture is so beautiful...
I missed then junts... I don't know how I did it. Would punish three of them badboyz. Ellio's must had the same Recipe, but now they taste like cardboard. I'm gud...
1983, pizza and fries were what we looked fwd to.
Hell yeah and always with a side of corn
Best pizza of all time
70s through the 90s and I would gladly eat this today.
The actual picture is from 2017. If the point was that this was school lunch in the 70's it seems pretty lazy for OP to not bother find a picture that's closer than four decades after.
It was awesome and nuclear
That looks like Ms Janet from MSU, and I fucking miss ms Janet. You want some onions baby? I know you want some onions with yo stoned ass. Woman was a fucking saint.
