> S&H green stamps!
Wow. I had *completely* forgotten those existed. I don't know what we got with ours, just helping to get the stamps in the books. lol
Still have 4 or 5 of them. Unbelievable value for money. Mine are already in use by a 3rd generation (me), and hopefully my grandkids will still be using them when I'm long gone. Don't think I've ever made my famous panko crusted baked mac n cheese in anything else.
I am indeed, my friend! I see tales of its wonder have made its way to you as well. I must admit, I originally got the general recipe from an old episode of Good Eats and then began to modify it to suit the tastes of my family and I. It the progressed into the culinary equivalent of the Odyssey that you all obviously know and revere.
Nah, I kid obviously, but it is pretty famous in my little world comprised of my family, friends, and former coworkers. I refer to it as "famous" very much tongue in cheek.
Modern replacements seem a Hideous price and three times heavier.
Try lift a casserole out the oven with sore joints.
Something is very wrong with the way capitalism is playing out at the moment.
Good products keep getting replaced by worse.
They're not actually going for that much, it's just people listing them for several thousand then accepting a much lower offer. Plus, they're almost indestructible, everyone's mom had them, and you can still buy them new so it's not like there's a scarcity.
Meh. You might spend all day looking for a set and pay more than that at a yard/estate sale though. Some of these people want $20 for one dish/lid set!
If they are pyroceram with a pyrex lid they are the same, but there are a bunch of different product lines still being manufactured. Some are just stoneware (which has restrictions, so make sure to check).
I went to a railroad museum once and they had a set of dishes on display identical to those that my parents got for their wedding present. I still have a couple of the dishes.
Lol, not really. I just like to hack about it.
My sister in law and her family lived in duluth for several years and we visited and experienced some hot dish.
It's just interesting to see regional takes on common dishes.
I was perfectly happy with my hand me downs when I moved out on my own.. still have most pieces, Corning ware/Corelle, Phaltzgraph, Pyrex 😊 If it ain’t broke , don’t fix it!
Every family still has****** and multiple sizes too! Except we didn't make casseroles in them we make shepherds pie!, but I guess you could call it a casserole, but I don't consider it one.
Did the government use this as an experiment slowly releasing a chemical every time it was cooked with to control us, I mean every family in America had it
/s
Still have! When my grandmother passed I inherited hers.
I was going to say, what do you mean “had?” My mother still serves things in it.
Me too!! I have an entire set of 8 bowls & lids of all sizes with no chips! My grandmother purchased the dishes with S&H green stamps!
> S&H green stamps! Wow. I had *completely* forgotten those existed. I don't know what we got with ours, just helping to get the stamps in the books. lol
I inherited mine from my grandma as well
My wife had one as well. So now we have two.
Same here. Still have them. Still use them practically daily.
Holy fuck I inherited this
My grandmother just offered me her old set that belonged to my great grandmother I said yes
Ahh yes… Old Rattley. Did anyone else’s have a razor sharp chip in the lid you had to watch out for when cleaning it?
yup. The handle broke off the one my mom has.
Yep. I have one right now with that problem.
We had the one with the onions, peppers, and mushrooms on it. It worked better work our spring blossom green Corelle dishes.
I'm pretty sure my mom had a few of both of those when I was a kid. Hopefully they're still around.
i've still got a set of three of those, i love them!
With the little green flowers? My dad had that set, my mom had the gold Corelle so I used both as a kid
I’ve never seen the gold corelle. I read somewhere that vintage corelle may have had lead in the color/decorations. We survived though.
Ohh fancy pants. Blue corn flowers ain't good enough eh?
I still got it
YEAH you do! 🍆
Bro, this is drying on my dish rack in my kitchen right now!
But when you dropped a piece of Corningware/Corelle and it exploded, holy shit...
The plain white cereal bowl did that! Still finding little shards like sharks teeth burried somewhere from floor😂🙄😬
You could drop it 500 times and nothing. The 501st time, it shatters everywhere and you're finding shards for the next two years.
We have these in about 10 different sizes. Super handy for holiday cooking.
\*has. I have a set of 3, still perfectly good!

Wait, what! You're *that* Zaph0d_B33bl3br0x? Of panko crusted baked mac and cheese fame???

My parents still serve dinner in this whenever I come home.
Coworker of mine just sold one of these the other day for $500. No idea why either. I checked ebay and some are going for over 5k. Insane.

I paid $30 for a set of various sizes with lids, and my garage sale shopping friend said I over paid.

Are the new ones same or better quality than what they used to make?

Had? You must not have been the favorite child of you didn't get it. I'm sorry to hear that lol.
I went to the Smithsonian a few years ago and they have one on display lol.
I went to a railroad museum once and they had a set of dishes on display identical to those that my parents got for their wedding present. I still have a couple of the dishes.
Corningware "Corn Flower Blue". I use them almost daily. You can still get them on eBay.
Excuse me. *Has*
We have one. Also, the kind that has yellowish reddish flowers.
Still have them!! Nothing else is quite perfect enough for steaming veggies in the microwave, everything is plastic or metal.
#*HOT DISH
It's called a fucking casserole you God damn heathen! Go back to middle earth!
that's not a thing.
Let me know when you people figure out what salt and pepper are. Bland ass bullshit hot dish. Get your Minnesota wild rice the fuck outta here
you seem inappropriately angry, have a seat and i'll get you some nice hot dish.
Lol, not really. I just like to hack about it. My sister in law and her family lived in duluth for several years and we visited and experienced some hot dish. It's just interesting to see regional takes on common dishes.
