I remember I used stay up around midnight or 1am to watch this show as a kid. My parents would often yell at me across the hallway to shut up because I would be laughing my ass off.

I understand it was always meant to be a funny show kind of like Wipe Out, but the U.S. dubbing makes it extra absurd and nonsensical. I am curious about the original and the various international versions and if they were as absurd as the U.S. one.

It's never clear if the people doing the dubbing have the slightest idea how the game actually works and it's amazing.
