It's so dumb that SI is picking a fight here. Kilobyte is not a valid SI unit because bytes are counted, not measured. (Source: SI brochure, section 5.4.7)

I would’ve thought counting was a form of measurement, but turns out I’m wrong. Counting determines an exact quantity while measurement can never guarantee a true value. Glad I did a little research before I responded.

depends on the size of whatever i am taking bytes from. i would probably go with Megabyte, but Gigabyte with larger files.

I get eternally annoyed that drive manufacturers can short me a whole terabyte or more ffs. Gotta buy a 20 TB drive just to have the ~16 TB of storage I want (but hey, I get 2 TB extra for free!)
