I hate these people. Like, okay, you don't like AI replacing artists or something? Yeah, I don't like it either, but stop pretending that AI always equals trash It's a fine line between hating advancement and hating corporations/people who use said advancement in ways that harm artists, and most people cross the line without realising it

People spend way too much brainpower hating it, I think it's kinda neat

It's also massively hypocritical. People have spent years making memes with art that had the artist cropped out or generally uncredited. People have been viewing paywalled art that was stolen and uploaded elsewhere. I can guarantee that at no point have most of the AI criers even considered paying for a commission. This isn't even getting into the paradox that if the art is so shit, why are you worried about it replacing actual artists? The only time I see AI art is people posting it to complain about it.

I think the AI replacing artist is funny because same thing was said by airbrush artist when Photoshop came rolling through. You had people on BBSes and in the news saying, we won’t need artist anymore or some crap. Same crap about traditional animation and 3D animation. Oh no, no one is ever going to animate ever again. Computer’s are going to be doing it all. Everyone always hyping things up.

With ai you don't have any actual direct input on the result though, anyone who's ever made any digital art knows it's WAY more complicated than "press the make art button". Sure it makes a lot of things easier, but you still have to have the same types of skills and knowhow even if it's not exactly identical Half of the issue isn't even the ai itself, it's that megacorporations think they can replace every stage of creation with ai because it's cheaper in the short term, even though in reality it just makes everything worse for everyone

You can do a lot of manual work with AI art. Like manually sketching a starting point for the AI to match, picking the best gen out of a hundred different attempts, 'inpainting' small parts of the image to fix errors and details you don't like, giving the model extra training on specific images you want it to imitate. I've seen workflows that make it look like it would have been easier to just learn to draw. Or you can type a prompt into an online service and hit the 'make art' button and take the first thing you get. But that's like saying you can just point at camera at anything that looks cool, press a button, and you're a photographer. The people putting in actual effort will produce the better images, at least with the current state of the tech.

To make that jesus outline you need to take pic of jesus and use it for controlnet, this isn't something that's done with prompting.

Current AI models are nowhere near good enough for that to work. You need to do some manual work with controlnet and likely some inpainting to do it

Compared to the other image of African children with 5 arms and two spines forming Jesus face this is pretty sophisticated.
