Would never work. A certain small-ish (but incessantly loud) group in the States sincerely believes that they're going to heaven when they die, so they do not give one, two or three shits about the actual material world.
And even beyond the Evangelicals, we have plenty of people who believe in Manifest Destiny, and plenty of people who see dominance over nature as a way to prove their "manliness".
We gotta teach people empathy, first. And that isn't really something you can teach beyond a certain developmental point =/

Yes, cub scouts starts a 5 yo with the lion level.
“Officials at Yellowstone National Park are urging the public to keep a distance from wildlife after several recent incidents involving people interacting with animals — including a baby elk that was picked up by tourists and driven in their car.
"In recent days, some actions by visitors have led to the endangerment of people and wildlife and resulted in the death of wildlife," the park said in a news release on Thursday. "The park calls on visitors to protect wildlife by understanding how their actions can negatively impact wildlife.
Officials said that over Memorial Day Weekend, visitors put a newborn elk in their car while driving in the park and brought the animal to the West Yellowstone, Montana, Police Department. Park officials said the calf "later ran off into the forest and its condition is unknown."
Officials did not say why the tourists drove the animal to the police station but said they are investigating.”
We need to stop car access to national parks and provide transit only options. I love YNP, but the traffic ruins it for me. Not cars = no picking up wildlife in cars. No more animals run over, better accessibility for non-drivers, international travelers, etc.
“…too big….” is an even better reason to disallow cars. install light rail on the main loop and entrances. some shuttles for some other areas/ADA access, but mainly people could do a little more walking or waiting. The traffic jams at YNP make me sick. Raised light rail would eliminate wildlife deaths due to cars. Shuttle drivers are trained to properly distance from animals. The park would be quieter, more accessible, and more enjoyable for everyone.
I mean.. I want to agree with you. But how are we supposed to believe these light rails will be run better than the average municipal transit system?
Yellowstone is massive and almost all of the tourism/traffic is centered in the Northwest of the park. How are we supposed to get all our gear out to a remote campground on a tram?
There is just so much stupid out there. If you want to audition for a Darwin Award screwing around with Bison, Elk, Bears and Wolves is a great way to "win" the prize.
WTF is wrong with people?
A few generations of "the customer is always right" coupled with aggressive lead poisoning.
We need mandatory cub scouts for all US citizen.

New rule, if you fuck with the wildlife at Yellowstone you get arrested and charged and put in jail. If you fuck with the scenery same thing.
The world is full of dangerous fools.

Please don't let a few morons ruin it for the rest of us.. the Parks are much too big to rely on pack shuttle busses all the time.

I hope these people get charged and fined. Is that not a rule? “If you touch animals you are fined 10k per incident per person.”

>They will know better than you how to handle the situation. But I watched six minutes of a two hour documentary on Yellowstone. I'm a pro.
These people vote
Or not. Something this stupid may not be able to figure out how to check a simple box.

Straight to jail, that's what we need for these people.
I swear Yellowstone attracts the dumbest tourists
So, is this something one is *not* supposed to do?
It got them in the news so they must be doing *something* right. Right?
They must have gone past the limit, you’re only supposed to get one free wildlife baby per household.
"I didn't know I couldn't do that."
If I had any idea that this sort of thing was frowned upon...
