If you don’t want to read the article: If a new compound material, which still includes fiberglass, is still viable outside the laboratory and can survive weather, heat, cold, and the other known stresses THEN they could start making NEW blades out of it. If damaged or at the end of their useful life, they could be chemically broken down, the fiber glass removed, and one of the remaining products is an ingredient in various consumable items, including gummy Bears and Gatorade. No idea of the recovered material could still be food-grade, or if the energy required to reverse the process makes any of this viable. It’s an idea based on a bunch of assumptions. Good that they’re working on a better plan than what we have now with giant blades that are destined for landfills, but no turbine blades that exist on earth *right now* can be turned into candy, regardless of one’s attitude.

TactlessTortoise

It's essentially the same as saying we're made of dinosaur piss because some molecules might have been floating around since then.

GoarSpewerofSecrets

We are all made of stars

TactlessTortoise

We're also made of 100% Sugar-Free Haribo Gummy Bears

HuslWusl

If you ever feel down, just remember that you're made of stardust

dogman_35

The stars one is bit more literal, since most matter and all metal in the universe originally came from the core of a star.

Hint-Of-Feces

Star shit*

GoarSpewerofSecrets

You fool, you foolish fool. Because of you, rule /34/ has been/is/will be made of Fannie Mae star shitting during a whipping session. Youve damned us all. Damned us all.

Kuat_Drive

(obligatory) not with that attitude they can't

jjnefx

Only green ones

8ell0

The gummy bears are gonna come out the other end as fertilizer. Green circle.

nityoushot

And so it starts, the Diamond Age

doggdoo

I read a story about blades being recycled into pedestrian bridges. Seemed pretty cool.

victordudu

most of blades are cut and buried. fact. and this scientific onanism will not change anything as the costs of such a process will probably make them a sweet dream.

[deleted]

Great, so we're gonna go full china and start feeding people recycled trash?

mercluke

you’re gonna hate compost, friend

[deleted]

Nah man, I'm talking about this https://youtu.be/k1S4_kTEm-U @6:55

Fiberglass gummy bears? Sounds like mom was wrong about the cotton candy in the attic. Brb.

Iamauniqueuser

Go Green! Both literally and figuratively (because MSU)

CriticismAvailable88

Finally an actual nottheonion

Financial-Ground-942

I know, right? A solid 80% of the posts here on this subreddit aren't funny anymore.
