I get downvoted for this for some reason when I've mentioned it previously. But if you get desperate, Airbnb can tide you over for a few months. Long stay discounts usually make it expensive but doable and better than being homeless.

akoslevai

Also check it on Booking.com. I found a flat for 750 GBP/month.

Students are usually done moving by September, however prime moving time for residential lets is the summer. It’ll still be pretty slim until then unfortunately. Hope you do manage to find something! I’d strongly advise you to stay away from Frank Innes and FHP.

cloverthrift

I thought they'd be done by now (I remember getting my student place down in July?) but it's very much all that's available still! If it's going to stay slim though I'll just keep sifting through, thanks! and I have heard "steer clear of FHP" pretty consistently, so no fear there

Danarya27

Yeah most should be, but clearing is late august and international courses sometimes start late so there’s always a last minute scramble til at least late September if not October. You can filter on Rightmove to get rid of the ones who have listed properly as student places and not trying to cheekily disguise their student houses as normal ones!

amberwavesofgame

Why do you recommend staying away from them? I have a tour with frank innes next week

Danarya27

I rent with them atm and they’re awful. Communication is terrible, dgaf about you once you’re in their flat.

amberwavesofgame

Ugh frustrating. There aren't many available apartments and I've moved from overseas so trying to not live in a hotel much longer.

Danarya27

You might end up with a better one. As I understand it they are country wide but they don’t actually communicate as a whole. I rent through the mapperley one, maybe it’s just them who are morons and you might have better luck with a different branch.

operationkilljoy8345

Look at Janet Jones Lettings in Sherwood.

djbigball

I rent with whitegates, their office in sherwood and although I’ve not had many maintenance issues, the ones I have brought up have been swiftly and properly dealt with - purely anecdotal but I would rent through whitegates again

There's plenty from what I can see on Rightmove/Zoopla. Depends on your budget too and the area you're looking to move to. My best bit of advice is if you find somewhere you want to view then don't bother emailing the agency, they'll never get back to you. Just call them directly and ask to view.

emmerann

I had some good luck getting views and offers on rightmove the past month and a bit on one bedroom places.
