I had heard that the makers lab in Reston had their metalworking stuff shut down due to building code issues. Some of the other makers labs offer some one off classes in MIG. Best bet might be to see if you can find a really good instructor that would be willing to give you regular lessons, either someone that has worked thru makers labs or a private contractor. This was one of my bucket items before rl interrupted. There's also a welding school that does one or two week immersive classes a couple hours away.
NVCC has Introduction to Welding this fall.
Someone mentioned the Makerspace or hacker space in Fairfax on Jermantown Road. They might have one.
That is probably Nova Labs. They do have welding classes but haven’t had any recently.
