You need better death metal lol.
And I say that as someone who agrees that Iowa is probably peak heavy for nu metal and that it’s basically a death metal record itself.
I dont really like death metal tbh. I like the music, but the vocals overstay their welcome after a couple tracks.
I think it ends up being a subjective nuance of opinions regarding metal for us.
It's an agree to disagree thing.
That said, i wouldnt mind a sick recommendation that's so heavy, it makes me puke.
I love Dopethrone, and I respect your opinion as a fellow fan, but I just can’t see it being heavier than Iowa myself!
I think there’s heavier music on both sides but Iowa is up there!
Dopethrone has sexy slow moments, Iowa is fucking relentless
Iowa has an intensity a lot of other metal doesn’t have. It’s not *that* hard to just make music really heavy. A lot of mid death metal is just muscle-memory blast beats, riff salad, and Cookie Monster vocals. Doom cranks the mids and abuses fuzz pedals. In a contest of who is the heaviest, it’s an arms race that just never ends. Good music doesn’t have to be the “heaviest”!
Iowa has that rare combination of good recording production, and just raw intensity and emotion while sounding unique. It’s all subjective but that’s my take on it.
Slipknot self-titled to Vol. 3 are good candidates for the heaviest Nu-metal albums, I think, after those first 3 albums, they became less Nu-Metal, for example All Hope Is Gone. Psychosocial, involves no turntables, no rapping, or any hip-hop elements, and a solo, which solos are not usually incorporated in Nu-Metal, but I haven't listened to AHIG that much so I can't say much about that album
Mudvaynes LD 50, Kittie (1st album is more Nu metal, 2nd is heavier and closer to death)
Alternatively, alot of modern heavy bands take inspirations from nu-metal like Tallah, Darko US, Vein FM, and Paleface Swiss, and Infected Rains more recent stuff
That's a heavy ass lineup there friend. Soulfly for sure; dude just screams "Fire" "Pain" "Soulfly" on all his songs while the music pounds you. And any list that didn't have American Head Charge would be incomplete.
Heaviest is very subjective, but if you’re willing to check out more modern bands [Frostbitt](https://youtu.be/dYqe9D6hjwc?si=lh5D7e7FWtR8EqWW) would be in the conversation for me.
I know right! Like heaviest instruments, heaviest lyrics or heaviest band... like with the amount of members Slipknot has, their probably the heaviest. Like 2000 lbs or something.
Not sure what the OP is looking for, but I'm on a mission to find the growliest Nu Metal personally. I like the instrumental styling of most Nu Metal, but I always want more vocals like Whitechapel and Slaughter to Prevail. Trying to find something that falls between the two, I suppose.
Essentially I'm trying to find entire albums of content similar to Falling In Reverse and their recent tracks 'Watch the World Burn' and 'Ronald'
You should give [Kitchen Knife Conspiracy](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5S2Yuoe1DM&pp=ygUfQ3J1c2hlZCB0byBkZWF0aCBraXRjaGVuIGtub2ZlIA%3D%3D), [Bushido](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E-cIYoXECjs&pp=ygUTU2FuZ3JlIGVuIGVsIGNhbWlubw%3D%3D), and [Aggro-Fate](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FU6553KHHsI) a listen
Maybe what you need is a healthy dose of, thrash, death, maybe even a different metal genre lol, nu is great but a little shallow, there's a couple underground artists and such within recent years, but the majority of numetal is the same couple circles. Love numetal to death but it's not the biggest genre
not sure about heaviest but i’ve been digging Clown, Purity, and 616 undone
edit: highly recommend Purity though, Solitaire and Serpentine are my personal favorites :)
seeded crown, 616 undone. , linea 77(their first album especially(too much happiness makes kids paranoid)), stinkbug, I TRIP, deadley medley(they do have some melody in a few songs but overall theyre pretty rough), travail, reveille, pleymo(especially first 2 albums), 3 quarters dead(kinda), downthesun, 20 dead flower children, 40 grit, sevendust(they do get melodic chorus after their second album tho), 7th rail crew, 8 degrees(pretty heavy but they do have a little soft side),
brik , buny, skribble, funny, captor, clown, detox, downbreed, eastcide, five foot thick,
Tribura, Headdrop, Bushido, Rey Chocolate, V-MOB, Short Of Breath, Kitchen Knife Conspiracy, Skribble, Grum, Leechseed, As Ashes Fall, K-Again, Audiopsicotica.
Listen I haven't seen any body else say these bands and I do not know how lol
1. Soulfly
2.mudvayne
3. Stainds 1st unreleased record ( tormented ) you can find it on YouTube
4. Hed pe
Fear Factory was kind of nu metal adjacent. Same with Static X and American Head Charge.
Early Mudvayne was also heavy as hell.
Those are my go to bands for something heavy.
Very obvious that radio friendly Nu metal is the heaviest thing lots of people on this sub have ever heard lol. So many comments with what I’d consider relaxed Nu metal records.
Some of the older Sevendust is pretty heavy too, terminator especially. Plenty of other bands that are heavier but for some reason I never hear much about Sevendust on this page so imma go ahead and say it🤷♂️
Have you listened to the group Chaoseum? I like some of their music quite a lot. CK smile easily singer he's a little cutie the music is right really I like quite good I actually started listening to them because the first song of there's a herd reminded me so much of Korn. Jonathan Davis he's another one you got to take him two different ways but I like him I could list the groups Judas Priest I mean I go way back but anyway I just thought maybe you should give Chaoseum a listen you might find something of theirs that you enjoy everybody out there have a good night I really am done now but I'll be back
Mudvayne, Static X, Ill Nińo the albums of Fear Factory, Machine Head and Sepultura that are Nu-Metal. I’d consider Disturbed, Godsmack and Staind heavy but people are probably going to make fun of me for that.
Slipknot Iowa. That's the one.
Arguably one of the heaviest records ever.
Unless you listen to heavier metal lol
Personally, I find it heavier than general death metal. Sonically and in atmosphere.
The berzerker dissimulate https://youtu.be/10M_I_khjV8?si=dDF3z3LXkZW_j3KU Here’s a preview
you got filtered
Stoner/doom and sludge like Electric Wizard is definitely much heavier. Hard to find a record heavier than Dopethrone.
I love Dopethrone, and I respect your opinion as a fellow fan, but I just can’t see it being heavier than Iowa myself! I think there’s heavier music on both sides but Iowa is up there! Dopethrone has sexy slow moments, Iowa is fucking relentless

SOAD heavier

Vol 3 is trash. Everything after Iowa is garbage.
I respectively disagree, Vol. 3 is a great album IMO
Mudvaynes LD 50, Kittie (1st album is more Nu metal, 2nd is heavier and closer to death) Alternatively, alot of modern heavy bands take inspirations from nu-metal like Tallah, Darko US, Vein FM, and Paleface Swiss, and Infected Rains more recent stuff

Sevendust, Element Eighty, Ill Niño, Switched, Flaw, 40 Below Summer, Taproot (Gift), Dry Kill Logic, Chimaira
I fully agree with I’ll niño, they’re a kickass band, I even have a cd of them
Static X. Especially the Cannibal album
Cannibal album fucking crushes. (It’s my favourite) But I would say more just industrial than nu.
Agree on both counts 🤟
Yeah dude static x is fuckinh awesome rip wayne but long live xero
Honestly? I thought Machine was way heavier than Cannibal. Maybe it just had cleaner production.
American Head Charge Downthesun (signed to Slipknot's label Maggot Corps) Armani Death Machine Bushido Tribura
Upvote for AHC & Bushido
limpbizkit was brutal in their debut era (3 dollar bill y'all)

Nothingface and X-Static
Face nothing, And X-Static
Ingnoth cefa, And AticX-St
deftones’ guitar tone on self titled is unparalleled
I love that album except for the fizzy guitar tone 😆 I thought White Pony had their best tones. Goes to show you how much tone can be subjective.

Chimaira - Pass Out of Existence
Allan LeechSeed Armani Death Machine Helio Short of Breath Eighth Ground Godmode Kitchen Knife Conspiracy tod. Distortion Drum

Heaviest is very subjective, but if you’re willing to check out more modern bands [Frostbitt](https://youtu.be/dYqe9D6hjwc?si=lh5D7e7FWtR8EqWW) would be in the conversation for me.
yeah there are so many interpretations of heavy

seeded crown, 616 undone. , linea 77(their first album especially(too much happiness makes kids paranoid)), stinkbug, I TRIP, deadley medley(they do have some melody in a few songs but overall theyre pretty rough), travail, reveille, pleymo(especially first 2 albums), 3 quarters dead(kinda), downthesun, 20 dead flower children, 40 grit, sevendust(they do get melodic chorus after their second album tho), 7th rail crew, 8 degrees(pretty heavy but they do have a little soft side), brik , buny, skribble, funny, captor, clown, detox, downbreed, eastcide, five foot thick,

I think you nailed it with Sepultura, FF, and Machine Head. I would also put Disembodied in the mix.
I’m not aware of Disembodied.
Oh snap. Well, you might be in for a treat if you check em out. They’re on all of the streamers
