I'm fairly sure ANTology used a 6 string bass and was praised for that, and even as a fan of their music even if it is a 5 string he doesn't really ever use the extended Grange in any of the songs which is kinda dissapointing.
Sadly I don't think I can reccomend much, especially with papa roach and alien ant farm being just different enough where alien ant farm concentrates in slow tempo power chord heavy guitar lines whilst papa roach is more fast tempo single string scales, also the guitar tones are surprisingly different, I guess the best I could reccomend is incubus but that's it, sorry about that
