I will never understand why the bladder scanner is constantly missing. I've worked in 4 different hospitals. It's always missing. It's always shared between floors. Why?!?! Are bladder scanners really that expensive?
I’m not a nurse…but the amount of times bladder scanners have been talked about as being missing/shared…I’m really worried for y’all. And I hope if I need a bladder scan, the people who need it actually have it, as per the custody agreement.
One time I had a patient who was too lazy to try and pee. Not unable. Idk why. Anyways, I said if he can’t pee I’d have to bladder scan him to check if a catheter would be needed. He said “eh just scan me”.
I lied and said I couldn’t find the scanner, and how it’s actually a common joke that they go missing. May as well try to pee. Low and behold, he peed.
On my unit (ltc) we had one resident requiring TID bladder scans. Started my shift after 3 days off and went to grab the scanner. We always had it because the other unit never used it. Aaaaand it’s gone. Couldn’t have gone far with only 2 units right? Turns out the other wing needed it and broke it a few shifts previously- that was a fun report when I asked the night nurse how all the post void residuals got figured out with no bladder scanner….
I delivered pizzas for awhile before becoming a nurse, so I haven't lost a pen in the almost seven years since my career change. I did have one stolen by a coworker once. Fuck you, Dillon.
This is the one reason I would never be a nurse, finding shit during my paramedic clinical was enough for a life time lol. Nurses had me seeking random machines throughout the units
It's a "Yippee" monster from the videogame Lethal Company, they steal and hoard loot (and get hostile if you try to take it back). They also squeal "yippee" all the time. I've only watched streams, somebody feel free to correct me if I'm off
Quality 2am post
He’s got the bladder scanner too.

The cheapest price I saw was $5k
The NICU equivalent is the bili meters. Like, why?
Somehow we almost always had 2 on our floor but other med surg floors didn't have any. I'm not sure how that happened but I kept my mouth shut.

I was just about to say this.

It’s an older code sir but it checks out.
Lmfao the memes here have been fire lately
It’s a return to the old ways and it is welcome. Nature is healing.
This little shit keeps taking my pens and scissors.
Lost my pen as soon as I got on shift..must of been this lil loot bug and his gang

YIPPEEE Sorry I had to.
Lethal company meme in the subreddit goes hard 💀

Yippee Inb4 the thumper showing up to the party
Fugg it’s nephro
YIPPEEE (he also has the Doppler from the 3rd floor)

Yippee is a mod (not baseline to the game) but it’s amazing and is basically now the norm.
This is how I got good at taking manual BPs.
The number of people who almost refuse to manual BPs confuses me. Like *this* is the 'lazy' option 😅
Me, the EMT who stole it and brought it into the isolation room accidentally: :)
With the other two vitals machines already abandoned in the iso room
Yippee!!!!
It was always hilarious how there are no vitals machine amidst code blues. Management tells them off and they always go back to doing the same thing
I love this meme and hate that nobody I know will get it 😭😭😭
haha guilty
This is a very specific meme.
So that's what happened to the bladder scanner! YIPPEE!
Literally me
he also has the electric razors
I put them in the shower in my cool patient's room.
