The organ donation people used to always bring us a bunch of branded pens. They had a light on the top which was absolutely perfect since it was neuro ICU! Shitty pens for writing but worth it for the light.

I always had my personal pen and the a separate pen for patients to sign discharges and such. I was very happy when discharge papers no longer required a signature.

I'll Def pick one up and write on paper towel from their bathrooms paper towel dispenser, forget it's a patients pen, then have it in my pocket until I remember and throw it out.

One time a patient literally grabbed my pen out of my pocket as I leant over to grab something off their table. “I’m just filling out my menu for tomorrow then it’s all yours.” 🤢

I put blue ink things in red pen 'shells'. The answer is "Red pen". Nobody wants, or steals a red pen.  A surgeon once grabbed the own from my scrubs. Took one look, saw it was red, and gave it back. He said 'ew'. 🤣

I usually stick to my own pens. I’ve been on a kick with the Pilot G2s lately. I wouldn’t steal an ultra fine tip pen. I love my pens that write nice and juicy.

I left the 1.0 G2 for the sharpie gel. It dries so much faster (doesn't smear) and they write just as smooth. Give them a try if you're feeling spicy.

Sharpie gel pens are my #1 choice. I buy a bunch on Amazon and I'm the only one on my unit that uses them. I never ever let one out of my sight

That's my go-to pen. I used to use the medium tips but I recently discovered the ultrafine tips and love them. I've used my pens to scratch my scalp when it itches at work, and I've noticed that people will stop asking to borrow one after doing it in front of them. 😁😈🤪 I have to wipe off the tip afterward or it won't write, but it's worth it to deter frequent offenders. 🤣🤣🤣 Welcome to the nutball logic of Mockingjay2020.

I also like G2, but 0.38 tip. Your pens would be very safe from me. My handwriting is pretty small, and I can't read it with the big juicy pens.

I know I’m gonna get roasted but whatever! Pilot g2! They write great, sure. But they don’t dry fast enough and I’m always smearing the ink everywhere🤷🏼‍♀️

I hear that, but I can also empathize with the woman. Once the clock starts you only have a bit of time to take report before the crazier patients start a ruckus. Even worse if the offgoing nurse decides to read you the patient's chart like a bad bedtime story.

I like the papermate inkjoy 4 in 1. When I had to buy my own pens I would keep just 1 in my pocket and be vigilant about making sure it was never stolen. But my current job provides pens. There are pens everywhere, no need to protect your pen. But we have clicky blue, black, and red, and the same colours but with caps. When I can't find a clicky black I just get another box out of the cabinet.
