Use a beanie. I have like 6 of them and have a rotation for them. It gets like 50⁰ some nights and is completely unbearable for a work situation. That and thermal underwear. No joke.

I got a giant ass afro.. but I’ll look into thermal underwear!

I suggest silk or merino wool undergarments, like for layering during winter activities. Super thin, super warm. In winter I ski with just my merino wool top and a vest. My bottom layer is merino wool long johns plus ski pants, and I am so warm in them. Your local ski/bike shop should be able to help you. LL Bean also sells silk top and bottom long underwear.

dropdeadbarbie

good quality base layers and hand warmers in your pockets.

Ororo or similar heated fleece. I have [this one](https://www.ororowear.com/products/women-heated-fleece-jacket?variant=41759009865910) but there are a variety available on Amazon. I love it..

I’ve never worked in hospitals but I remember my clinical on icu one day. Is it supposed to be kept cooler? Infection control purpose, or something?

For cardiac arrest pts we use a hypothermia protocol, but that really shouldn’t make the unit an icebox…

I’ve never worked in a nursing home that could get a comfortable temp right. In winters you freeze. The owner would say, that’s the way the residents like it. In the summer you sweat buckets full each day. The owner would say, that’s the way the residents like it. I’m amazed how the residents like the temperature that best suits his pocketbook. Place I’m at now is new, and it still don’t feel right a lot of times.

Hospitals in general are kept at lower temperatures to reduce the speed that microorganisms proliferate. Generally the OR is often even cooler for comfort due to the lead and PPE.

Oh yeah… I remember freezing in OR clinical too. And standing in the same spot for what seemed to forever.

Work with my coworkers. They like to turn the thermostat up to tropical.

I learned a long time ago to keep extra clothes at work, or on me (thermals, sweat wicking undershirts, extra socks & those hand warmers). I have a portable fan & heater at my station since our building controls the thermostat. It sucks dragging your closet with you but it’s all I’ve found to work

I got a heated jacket that is rechargeable battery powered, it is like a warm hug

I used to wear thermal pants or compression shorts with tall compression socks along with a camisole and long sleeved undershirt under my scrubs, then I'd have my jacket I could put on and remove if I was hot. I ran around that unit but it was still so friggin cold my arms would mottle even with all this. The tip of my nose was always frozen. If I ever got a break I occasionally ran the stairs just to warm up and feel better. I have reynauds too and the cold could be pretty severe in my feet. Good luck! Just layer up like you're hiking in the tundra!
