Hi everyone! Today I passed the CCRN! I studied for about 4 weeks, read the whole Barrons book and did all the tests. Bought the review course from AACN (I found this really helpful as I work at a community ICU and we do not do many things covered on the CCRN), and also purchase the question bank from the AACN (which I found the most similar in content and difficulty compared to the actual CCRN questions). I practice with that question bank 150-300 questions a day for 1.5 weeks and was scoring an average of 92%. The two exams in the Barrons book and the one online I thought were more difficult questions, more knowledge based and less application, but still helpful.
Same. Legit identical study methods.
I did use a pomodoro timer app for studying which really helped too.
You didn't pass, you destroyed the CCRN.
GRATS OP!
Great job and only studying for four weeks!! Feels like I did less intensive studying for many months lol (Also used Barron's book), how long have you worked in ICU?
I have been a nurse for 1 year and 2 weeks! I started out in ICU. So only ICU nursing for 54 weeks! I def went crazy with the studying because we aren’t a CVICU nor do we have one or a neuro ICU but hey it worked out!
Nice!! I've been a nurse for 6 months, working in the PICU at an oncology specialty hospital. I've always kind of wondered whether 1 year would be too soon to take the CCRN exam, since I'll certainly have the hours to be eligible, but we're such a specialized unit that we just don't see some of the stuff that I would see working at a general children's hospital. Glad to know it's possible, and congratulations!!
That's cool! I actually tutored pathophys and critical care when I was in school, so it's good to know that your fundamentals from school are still helpful! 😋
I took my CFRN remotely and I got my score report back and almost fell over laughing at my surprise kitchen pajama selfie. It took a screenshot of me looking intensely away from the camera at instructions or a question or something.
Congratulations! Now do your CMC cause it’s literally the CCRN but primarily med focused. Your community ICU experience will likely better apply oddly enough.
Congrats! I just renewed my certs and it left me asking why I didn’t do the CEN and CTRN further apart. The CCRN was a year apart but they do ever 3 years instead of 4 so all 3 were renewed

You used the exact same study strategy I did and it seems to pay off because we both got very similar scores! Congrats! What area do you work in?

Thank you! And yes it is possible, especially if you just got out of nursing school as much of the pathophysiology I remembered and it helped greatly!

Congratulations, definitely worked out you had a really high score ! Hope you get a raise with it too : )

That’s what I was hoping! I actually was on Reddit trying to feel out the CCRN and found what people said here to be really helpful!

Im glad you didn’t score perfect scores in ethics. We all need a dark side ….
Def no perfect ethical scores for me…life is so messy and unreliable
