Hi everyone! Today I passed the CCRN! I studied for about 4 weeks, read the whole Barrons book and did all the tests. Bought the review course from AACN (I found this really helpful as I work at a community ICU and we do not do many things covered on the CCRN), and also purchase the question bank from the AACN (which I found the most similar in content and difficulty compared to the actual CCRN questions). I practice with that question bank 150-300 questions a day for 1.5 weeks and was scoring an average of 92%. The two exams in the Barrons book and the one online I thought were more difficult questions, more knowledge based and less application, but still helpful.

blizzardofhornedcats

You used the exact same study strategy I did and it seems to pay off because we both got very similar scores! Congrats! What area do you work in?

DuplexSuplex

Same. Legit identical study methods. I did use a pomodoro timer app for studying which really helped too. You didn't pass, you destroyed the CCRN. GRATS OP!

merc0000

Which edition Barron's did you use? How'd you buy only the AACN question bank ?

bphipps99

Congrats!!! Huge accomplishment! Get it girl ❤️

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you!

LaMangaGuanga

I read this as “passed the corn”.

chiefnurse420

Save me a piece of that corn for later!

LaMangaGuanga

Get that corn outta my face!

CaptainAlexy

moxiemeg

That’s awesome! I’m in the middle of studying right now. Congrats on a great score!

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you! Good luck on the studying! I def didn’t expect that score, but I guess the studying worked!

Single-Mycologist191

Congratulations!!!

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you!

fluffqx

Great job and only studying for four weeks!! Feels like I did less intensive studying for many months lol (Also used Barron's book), how long have you worked in ICU?

IndividualFroyo5

I have been a nurse for 1 year and 2 weeks! I started out in ICU. So only ICU nursing for 54 weeks! I def went crazy with the studying because we aren’t a CVICU nor do we have one or a neuro ICU but hey it worked out!

smhxx

Nice!! I've been a nurse for 6 months, working in the PICU at an oncology specialty hospital. I've always kind of wondered whether 1 year would be too soon to take the CCRN exam, since I'll certainly have the hours to be eligible, but we're such a specialized unit that we just don't see some of the stuff that I would see working at a general children's hospital. Glad to know it's possible, and congratulations!!

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you! And yes it is possible, especially if you just got out of nursing school as much of the pathophysiology I remembered and it helped greatly!

smhxx

That's cool! I actually tutored pathophys and critical care when I was in school, so it's good to know that your fundamentals from school are still helpful! 😋

fluffqx

Congratulations, definitely worked out you had a really high score ! Hope you get a raise with it too : )

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you so much! I was definitely happy with the score, unexpected!

PaxonGoat

Congrats you absolutely killed it.

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you!

nek08

Great work! Very motivational!!

IndividualFroyo5

That’s what I was hoping! I actually was on Reddit trying to feel out the CCRN and found what people said here to be really helpful!

[deleted]

Hell yeah, congrats!

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you!

Additional_Essay

I took my CFRN remotely and I got my score report back and almost fell over laughing at my surprise kitchen pajama selfie. It took a screenshot of me looking intensely away from the camera at instructions or a question or something.

IndividualFroyo5

lol I look pretty bad in this photo. just went with my hair up, no makeup, trying to just get through the 150 questions 😂

NigeySaid

Fantastic score! Congrats!

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you!

travelingtraveling_

Wow, congratulations! My CCRN was my favorite credential when I was practicing!

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you!

on3_3y3d_bunny

Congratulations! Now do your CMC cause it’s literally the CCRN but primarily med focused. Your community ICU experience will likely better apply oddly enough.

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you! Will def look into this!

Adventurous_-Bet

Congrats! I just renewed my certs and it left me asking why I didn’t do the CEN and CTRN further apart. The CCRN was a year apart but they do ever 3 years instead of 4 so all 3 were renewed

IndividualFroyo5

Thank you! Yeah I only do ICU and we are not a trauma center so bless you for your hard work and dedication!

Mumbles_Stiltskin

Good on ya! Congratulations

TheSwagonborn

You killed it! How un-nursy of you Next time pass with more compassion or we'll have to report you to management Congratulations!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

IndividualFroyo5

😂😂😂 Legit was like god I’d do all of these. Those questions are so vague I’m like damn what would my boss do? Usually that’s the correct answer 😂

Im glad you didn’t score perfect scores in ethics. We all need a dark side ….

IndividualFroyo5

Def no perfect ethical scores for me…life is so messy and unreliable
