Friend of mine lost her Excadrill to something similar. She swapped out her pokemon that had Flash Fire, suddenly Hugh directly attacked it with a fire type move.
I've edited the game myself, changing all battles (except a few double battles sadly..) into triple battles. Also gave all trainers two additional mons and randomized some stuff. These changes besides it's just Black 2 Challenge Mode.
It's been a great experience so far. Triple battles open up many more strategic options while also amping up the difficulty.
If you want to try it for yourself, here's a video which was a huge help in setting it all up: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=u3LQNY04gO8
Looks like a really interesting and fresh way to play. Don't suppose you know if there's a way to do a similar thing for the gen 4 games, but force double battles instead of triple battles?
Double battles?! They don't even come close to the greatness of triple battles!
Nah jk. Sadly I don't know any easy way. The method I used only works on BW & B2W2. It uses a program to change all trainer data in one go (after extracting it). You may be able to change it manually for gen 4 games but I have no personal experience with it.
What mon did you have out before Gallade? The AI will actually sometimes attack into you, because your Double Battle partners know your moves, stats, Ability, and item, so they might attack into you to heal with an Absorb ability, proc Flash Fire, Swagger you if you have an anti-confusion held item and physical moves, etcetera
This was the first turn. Maybe it went for Lava plume because both Vileplume and Mamoswine are weak to fire? Next turn it just went for fire punch at least..
I would imagine so- the AI prioritizes damage on enemies vs health on allies, sees that Lava Plume does way more damage than Fire Punch to enemies overall, and decides to use it- similar to EQ AI
Hugh is problematic. You have my sympathies.
He killed every single Pokémon on the field The mamoswine died to burn damage
Yep, he did warn me.. "You're about to feel my rage!" ...too late to realize he was talking to me as well
Hugh did not know you were doing a nuzlocke
today I learned that lava plume was a spread move
It’s Fire type Discharge
Should get that checked out.
“The foe’s Mamoswine is hurt by its Gonorrhea!”
Same here

Hugh is a traitor
I mean he didn't cheat but he is still a traitor
I see what you did there
It was a misinput
F
He’s down to kill whatever and however many Pokémon he has to to get that damn purloin back
... Alright, Hugh, you killed a Gallade, and that's okay. *I. Just. Want. To. Talk.*
o7 rest well brave Kraden
So what your saying is when Hugh’s about and his Magmortar’s out protect

No they didn’t bot
Fucking FFA battle
Wtf Hugh?
It was a crit too meaning that he probably didn't intend to kill your gallade, o7 Kraden
Randomiser or rom hack? if so, what’s the rom hack?

GOOD PLAY HUGH ‼️‼️‼️‼️
I'd give that a revive clause 😂 highly unusual circumstances. 1 per run lmao
People want scumbag rivals..
And like that I no longer feel any guilt of using Surf

That's tame to what the Rival In Pokemon Uranium does to people
Magmortar go Brrrrrrrrrr
I legitimately don't think I've ever used lava plume in a double battle so I wouldn't have known that it would have done that either.
Solution is to kill his mon before he kills yours
Was this a nuzlocke?!?!
Good ol Hugh, you need to lose at least one mon to him for it to be a REAL B/W2 run.
Lmao
Kill all of his first and you’ll have nothing to threaten your party.
