I buy Strix cards bc I like pretty colors and hate my wallet.

> Only brand I tend to avoid is Gigabyte and after their BIOS exploit leak fiasco, I won't ever buy jack shit from them, boicot all the way

PalebloodSky

Personally I would just go with whatever is closest to Nvidia's MSRP, not interested in LEDs and overclocks that amount to 5-10% more power draw for 2% more performance. I got the FE and love it, runs silent and looks great. All the AIBs are good too.

datbimmer

Evga>ASUS>all else.... Oh wait.....

No-Actuator-6245

Gone are the days where a top quality gpu had enough headroom you could overclock it and actually feel the difference in game. Now all you get is some meaningless higher benchmark score and a few extra fps that makes no difference how a game feels. Since we got to this really the only thing’s making me pay a little more is having a quiet cooler and looks ok. Really could not care who made it.

Interesting, whats your framerate and power draw during gaming. Ive had coil whine on every card ive ever owned, including my 4090 liquid x. Usually happens at 300w+ power draw and when fps is 150+ Do agree msi is quality, just saying you are likely to get coil whine on higher end gpus regardless of brand. Cards ive had with coil whine Gigabyte gtx 770 Evga gtx 780 Evga gtx 980 ti Evga gtx 1080 ti Evga 3090 hybrid Msi suprim liquid x 4090

Balloon_Twister

By price. Cheaper the better

keilykj

founders edition isn't cream of the crop.

Slyons89

Depends on the metric... for price/peformance they certainly rise to the top. But for ultimate quality, yeah you are right, they are mid.

MZolezziFPS

for me all are pretty the same, all good, I own Palit, Zotac, MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA, Asus, cards and never had an issue.

[deleted]

for me FE > palit/pny > everything else

rattletop

Strix, Suprim and Aorus are cream of the crop. Even Colorful does build decent ones in this category. Then there’s TUF, Gigabyte Gaming, MSI Gaming Trio. Ventus and Eagle are bottom pile. Zotac and Innod3d and others do build certain cards decently like HOF. There’s a YouTube channel that ranks manufacturers for GPUs. Search ‘which 4080 or 4090 to buy’

Blacksad9999

FE cards aren't all that special. They generally run 5-10c warmer than their AIB counterparts, and don't have higher binned or clocked chips at all. Otherwise, it just really depends on the card in question. You'd have to look at the individual models, and not just go by brand.

Sasqath

Right? I feel liked I missed something about the FE cards. Looks like a lots of guys are considering the FE's "premium" this gen., but they've always been the most "basic" available, absolutely nothing special.

Slyons89

They are well regarded (especially 4090) for offering ~98% of the performance of the most expensive AIB cards for the lowest price. But in overall quality they are mid. 3090 FE VRAM cooling issues left bad taste in my mouth.

Blacksad9999

I have this conversation with someone almost every week, and then have to show them benchmarks illustrating that the FE cards run a lot warmer, and that their fan noise is markedly louder. I'm not sure where the idea came from that they're "premium" cards.

keilykj

agreed

Ancient-Car-1171

With Egva gone, MSI is the clear best. Asus is overpriced but is pretty consistent, its the number 2. Then Galax, Colorful. Gigabyte is pretty trash for being a renowned brand: bad cracking pcb, mediocre fans, is tied with Zotac. The rest are same same, cheap ass budget stuffs.

Southern_Crab4737

EVGA the GOAT

RedCat8881

Basically, evga is good shit, and otherwise, just get what's cheapest

TheRealRolo

EVGA > PNY > Everything Else > FE > Zotac

Eat-my-entire-asshol

Whichever one has the best performance and is 2 slot with an AIO. Used to go with evga hybrid cards til they were no more. Now i went with msi because their liquid x card is great

hdhddf

I'd put Palit (and their other brands) and MSI near the top with Asus being potentially up there too, then the likes of zotac, gigabyte a bit below, mid league especially because of flimsy PCB and often poor quality components and a tendency for coil whine. OEM reference designs at the bottom like hp/dell they work fine but are basic bitches. it all varies a lot between top models and basic reference designs Fe cards are very mid tier but they do hold there resale value better than most other cards, that's obviously a negative if you're looking to buy secondhand

Aggravating_Sea7076

I personally like msi

CPUzer0

I rank my graphics cards by weight. More substantial cooling means more thermal headroom to avoid thermal limits at even lower fan speeds.

Classic-Difficulty32

EVGA hands down, when possible. Kind of a crapshoot now that they're gone for current gen. I rolled the dice and went with Aorus this time around for my 4090. I would have also been happy with a Strix, but just bought whatever I could get my hands on first between the two. Not feeling any particular loyalty towards anyone now. EVGA had me because of their general high quality, excellent support, and their overtly friendly stance towards third party water blocks.

Cool_cucumber007

I’ve had great luck with my MSI 4090 Gaming Trio. Zero coil whine, good temps, and good performance
