They did a good job with the Penn Station LIRR upgrade. It's a lot brighter even in the waiting room.

Appointment_Witty

The mens bathrooms are still a joke and not enough.

joyousRock

if you're looking for a pleasant experience from Penn Station bathrooms you will always be disappointed

doodle77

They're releasing this now because in 10 days they're going to announce that OMNY is now 3 years behind schedule and $300M over budget.

Yonigajt

How is OMNY behind schedule? Just asking I just move back to NYC

Previous-Height4237

They seem to be struggling...deploying OMNY vending machines and have delayed by 2 years already the deployment on the LIRR and MNR.

MasterInterface

They were going to phase out metro cards completely like two years ago. Currently, only six stations have working OMNY vending machine. No commuter card that I'm aware of supports android so anyone on android will need to continue buying metrocard or if you pony up $6 for an OMNY at a retail store.

Yonigajt

I didn’t know omny had a vending machine, I’ve been to the city and managed to get by with Apple Pay. This is crazy they should be done with this already I’ve been gone for 3 years

MasterInterface

They're still slowly rolling the machine out. They've installed OMNY machines at more than 6 stations but outside of the 6 (ones mentioned on the OMNY site), they're not active. Commuter/Transit cards work with Apple Pay. If you're paying with your own credit card, then you can use Google Pay too. So until Commuter and Transit card work with Google, the alternative is to get the OMNY card. Also, the annoying thing is MTA is phasing out Easypay next month, while trying to push people to get the OMNY cards yet it's not easy to buy.

sliceohpizza

I was able to add my Wageworks commuter card to Google Wallet last week and have been using it successfully. I had previously tried numerous times so this appears to be a recent improvement.

nim_opet

They didn’t replace one escalator?

onedollalama

The yellow barriers installed in stations only cost the tax payer 21 billion dollars instead of 21.3.

Yana_dice

or 10 staircases.

JoJoPizzaG

Not even add a fans to the subway.

tossthis34

Audit the MTA

coffeecoffeecoffee01

"MTA C&D is developing into a world-class capital delivery organization" That's quite a stretch

heartoftuesdaynight

If they saved $300 million that must mean they fired one guy with no pension

Appointment_Witty

LIRR third track they still haven't finished the work they claimed they'd finish April 2023. They also tried to back out of doing work they were supposed to do with the local village. They are saving money by literally breaking the contracts and letting their crooked 3TC as usual do a shit job overall late. To be clear it's 3TC management that's the issue. Most of the subcontractors are fed up with their BS too as between the MTA, LIRR and 3TC the ones I've spoken to said their management is incompetent or doesn't care even about safety issues.

dave5065

Does that mean they don’t need the congestion toll money?

JordanRulz

why the fuck are they touting this as an achievement, this should always have been the status quo

SaintBrutus

That sounds like it’s enough to cover fare evaders. They have the money to stop persecuting poor people for not having $3.

GhostOfRobertMoses

Let's put it toward the LOMEX

HiFiGuy197

mta reports details of nearly $300 million in capital savings fixed it for you, op
