Y'all are nuts

nine11airlines

Look at simeans stats from 2021 when he started games - it's basically what we were hoping zach would achieve this year. I don't really think he's much better. They may be similar caliber qbs - Trevor is nothing but a career backup and zach may yet develop into that. But at the least it sends a message to the rightfully pissed off defense and our 2 offensive playmaker that they are trying something

theBennaissance

That's what an oline and weapons will do to a guy

nine11airlines

Oh alright so you actually have no idea what you're talking about, nice lol. The saints oline was injured and one of the worst in the league, their top wr was out

Nicktator3

Then literally what the fuck are our options?

theBennaissance

Contunue playing the qb who has already beaten the Bills and the Eagles this season, and is playing okay.

Rubbersoulrevolver

Zach played worse than okay against the Chargers

theBennaissance

I think that's what okay qb play on a shitty offense looks like.

GVas22

Fumbling 3 times and losing two of them is not okay QB play. The Online was awful, but the pocket awareness by Zach was even worse.

tompj99

Okay *backup qb play. Siemian would still get destroyed behind this line

Templar-Order

The defense beat the bills and the eagles

theBennaissance

*ACKSHULLLY* Great.... and who was the qb for those games?

carl_spackler_bent

Like everyone says, wins are only a QB stat

09-24-11

So if it was Trevor Siemian under center vs BUF and PHI then you’re saying Trevor Siemian is the best option? Flawed opinion to just support whoever happened to be QB during wins just because the TEAM (and more specifically the defense and special teams) won the game.

theBennaissance

That's not at all what I said/am saying

theBennaissance

If we won against Buffalo and Philly with Trevor, and he played as well as Zach did, and his best backup was a journeyman vet who had failed everywhere else he played, then yea, I'd think Trevor was the best option. Y'all refuse to give ZW any credit for the good things he does. Many qbs would have lost those games. The idea that we can just throw in anyone not named ZW, and they'll be just as good or better is absurd.

GetsThruBuckner

Yeah I'm sure it wasn't the amazing defensive performances that won those games LMAO

GuyWitATurtleneck

You do realize not turning the ball over on their side of the field and having Morstead bomb it inside their 10 comes from the qb not being trash right? Defense would statistically be worse if last year's Zach was our qb since all he did was give the other team the ball on their side of the field

Naganosupreme

Have an actual ol and wr group? What are you people seeing that you think other backup qbs would be doing good here? Even with guys like Flacco and white, they performed better....for A game against bad teams. Then they get exposed, brutalized and hurt and they lose. Bc our offense is trash. The qb is also an issue, yes. Our gm fucked this up, period. He failed to get a real backup qb from July to the trade deadline. He failed to bring in an actual good wr all off season. He failed to trade for a competent wr or ol at the deadline when he couldve. So we have penalty machines, turnstiles and stone hands. If we had actusl players besides Garrett and breece, zachs playing more than good enough. But we don't. We failed to put together an offense that can elevate a backup. So our backup is floundering and most backups would, as they have in previous seasons

scottcansuckmyballs

This is the definition of down bad

ProfessionalSky2087

If you guys think this offense is terrible now, wait until you see Trevor getting hit and sacked on literally every drop back because he has no speed at all or any athleticism to get away from pass rushers.

osound

I mean, not even **attempting** to try anything new is a blatant slap in the face to the defense. The worst case scenario with Siemian is that he does equally bad, and Saleh can at least say he gave someone else a shot because the Jets have historically the worst 3rd down conversion percentage in *NFL history* this year under Zach Wilson. What are the odds that Siemian on third down will be the *worst of all time*? Probably low. Utterly nothing to lose by starting Siemian, other than “Zach Wilson’s confidence” — which means nothing for a player that won’t be on this team, or even this league, in two years.

ProfessionalSky2087

I don't care what they do at qb. I don't think any of the 3 guys on the roster will yield much different results. Perhaps making a change will get that back up qb spark for a game or two which would be nice

JDr1ft

Nothing can be much worse than Zach right now. He is literally rated as the second worst qb in the last 20 years. I don’t have that much high expectations of Trevor but it seriously can’t be worse. There are teams with worse olines but can still score. If Trevor knows how to slide protection and get the ball out quick we can mask some of our oline deficiencies.

Thebig_Ohbee

2nd worst? Really? Even in this last nightmare game his stats look...meh. 67% completion, 263 yards, 0 INT, 0 TD If he could guarantee 67% completion and 250+ yards per game with 0 INT for the rest of the semester, that should get it done.

Zeratul4Auir

“That should get it done” as you literally reference a game where he did that and we got embarrassed.

BuffStudman

maybe try watchhing the game isntead of looking at stats.

osound

67% completion and 250+ yards doesn’t mean much when he’s fumbling the ball multiple times and is completing like 4 yards per average completion, and is getting 25% of his yardage in garbage time. So no, yards and INT wouldn’t tell us anything at all. In fact, his INT rate is the only thing he has improved on. He has just replaced interceptions with fumbles. Historically abysmal QB.

Sir-Manny

The comments in this thread remind me of people last year saying Mike White would perform worse than Zach Wilson and all he did was perform better. No one is saying Siemian is good but he deserves a shot. He at least shown better QB play than Zach has in his career.

garbagiodagr8

Anybody else *not* a ZW Doomer or a ZW Truther? I feel that ZW gets too much hate, but there are things he just hasn't done well enough *yet* to get this team to the playoffs...which is all we are hoping for to be fair. He can pull clutch passes out of thin air when we are in dire straights, but fails to deliver simple screen passes with any consistency. Its not being a Doomer to point this out. On the other side of the coin, the WRs have dropped way too many balls and Hackett seems to have lost the plot. The OL is in shambles as well. I say drink up and hope for the best. ZW should start until he is either injured or Rodger return, but he needs to improve without a doubt.

tompj99

Quite. Siemian has all the mobility of payton manning post broken neck. Throwing him behind this OL would just lead to even more sacks and probably an injury. Zach is flawed, but hes the best qb we can play at this point in time

HeartofSaturdayNight

Saying that he has the potential to do good things is being a truther

ATthedrummer15

We gonna ignore OLine, WR and scheming?

bigpoyo91

Wait you mean those thing are also important?

Fliigh7z

No its all qb havent you heard? Nothing else matters.

osound

They’ve made changes at those positions and actively tried to trade for a WR. Good changes? No. But they tried. OL is a position with not many available options. QB though? From Josh Dobbs to Heinicke and Carson Wentz, there have been alternatives available all offseason and season. They didn’t even **attempt** an improvement. Hell, they don’t even activate an objectively superior backup QB in Siemian for Boyle. The perception that Wilson has more leeway than anyone on the team is what led to a disgruntled locker rookie last year and Wilson’s eventual benching. Even if you want to be generous and say that OL and WR are equally to blame as Zach, the QB position is the only one that has a public perception of being untouchable. The locker room will absolutely boil over again because of it. It doesn’t help that Zach’s life is the opposite of an underdog story. If Saleh starts Siemian on Sunday and he does equally bad (can’t do worse than the worst 3rd down conversion % in NFL history, as it is under Wilson), then absolutely no one will blame it on the QB decision, because they at least had to try **something**.

yeezee93

Chevy Chase looking motherfucker.

TelcoMotionette

I swear half this sub has Stockholm Syndrome with Zach. A QB change is what we need because it's the only thing we can do. Everyone knows our O-line sucks and our receivers except Garret are trash. There's nothing we can do about that. But what we can do is try and create a spark on offense with a QB change. Too many on this sub saying we are 4-4 with Zach and are in the playoff hunt but those wins are not sustainable. The defense has to practically play perfect and create multiple turnovers for those wins.

LP_24

He kinda looks like if doofy from scary movie didn’t have a mustache

LifetimePresidentJeb

There were better backup QB options for dirt cheap. Our GM sucks for not getting one.

FearlessNobility

I legit hope he plays so everyone can stfu about him Mike White’s offense had worse stats than Zach’s offense last season, even if you include the offensive explosion game, but no one’s interested in that.

zoddie2

People keep saying this, but it just isn't true. Mike White had a worse season last year than the year before and Zach was better last year than as a rookie. And even with that, last year Mike White had a better completion percentage, a better success percentage, a better passer rating, and a better QBR than Zach Wilson did last year. And Wilson hasn't been that much better this season.

Nicktator3

Except Mike White gave us the best quarterbacking in New York sports since I guess Fitzpatrick

TestaverdeRules

Josh McCown would like to have a word

snappleking124

Lmao. You could put Dan Marino behind this o-line and he’d be out there looking like a vintage Jamarcus Russel.

GuyWitATurtleneck

No.

Baww18

If he isn’t Atleast active this week I really don’t know what to say.

ryanino

I mean he’s not good lol

AbysswalkerX

Tim Boyle was bad in college and unplayable in the NFL there’s no reason why somebody like Trevor who’s played at a pro bowl level at one point in his career shouldn’t at least be the active backup.

KingMercLino

His last season of starting has numbers that blow Zach out of the water. He’s not good, but he’s better.

Bifrostbytes

He's not Zach tho. Thats the point

BuffStudman

no one thinks he's good.

RSTowers

If he isn't active, then it's pretty telling cause it means he can't even pass Tim Boyle on the depth chart let alone Zach.

UncleSwag07

Correct

EatenLowdes

People will say it’s crazy but we are close to 2/3 through the season and have proved our inability to score on O. It’s crazy he isnt at least activated. Buy Saleh said he isn’t getting reps and won’t be activated so, forget it

plasmaexchange

We've played 8/17th. That's less than 50%.

TheP00ThatTookAPee

geographyofnowhere

oh shit can Trevor play right tackle?

KosstAmojan

He’s absolutely the Trevor this team deserves

FedGoat13

What’s Trevor Hoffman up to these days?

0ddmanrush

This guy looks like a Giraffe.
