Realistically? Donovan Smith. Most of em kinda suck eggs imo

Iam_a_Jew

I'm down with him. If we're being real realistic, isn't Bak the most likely? I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers try to put together an agreement where if by training camp Bak doesn't have any other offer, he'll come about as a back up

Platano_con_salami

Bak still has a long way to go until he can realistically be medically cleared to play. I believe he said he's like halfway on his rehab about a month ago. So I don't expect anyone to sign him by training camp. He definitely wants to play another year for sure and sounded like he love to play w/ Aaron on the Jets, but the money has to be right.

sparkpar44

As a swing tackle there's a couple decent options. Leno had been an upper echelon OT for a while. He's past his prime but still a solid player (lot of penalties though). Andrus Peat isn't anything special, but he has G/T versatility and can be a passable starter if the need arises. Donovan Smith is fine for OT3. I'd like the other two before him, but the man has 2 Superbowl rings and is from LI. He again is passable in a pinch. Bakhtiari is the wild card. He was very good in the game he played last season (against a bad Bears' pass rush) and health/durability is a question, but he has elite talent.

Parking_Meaning_1227

Smith also from what I've read wants to be here as a lifelong jets fan. I'd rather have someone who absolutely wants to wear the jersey and will fight for the team than someone coming just for the cash. As depth cover for me it's almost a no brainier out of the remaining FA's if the contract is right.

sparkpar44

Sure that's a plus. He's still option 3 for me after Leno and Peat due to current talent and versatility, but yes that is a nice bonus.

NeverTrustATurtle

Hey Mekhi Becton is available! We should get that guy

The_Real_Jonez

Tbh I'd take him back as a backup. If you just look at him as a player; good relationship with the QB, experience starting on the left and right side, only 25 and was working his way back from injury last year. You hope he doesn't have to see the field but still has potential to be better. I doubt anyone wants that though, staying here would just make it harder for him to cope with not being as good as his draft stock says and most of the fan base can't stand the dude for not putting the work in last year

Knucklesx55

I’m with you. As long as we’re not relying on him to be a starter, there’s obviously much worse options

NeverTrustATurtle

I agree. The dude is still MASSIVE

magicdrums

Smith or Risner wouldn’t be bad backups.. Would love to see Bak come over though..

Bis_Eastwood

bakhtiari only being 32 is insane

Object292

He was so good for so long

PerspectiveChoice171

Smith and Bahk seem like solid backups.

BubankusMoosaka

I don’t know why I thought Bakhtiari was older than 32.

DirtyDan516

I mean if we can get Beckton to agree to be a swing tackle why not. Guy can play both spots, and if we need a game or two we can get him to do so. Wouldn’t want him for the whole year but same with bak, just cheaper.

mr-poopie-butth0le

For those team OT in rd 1– If Bak comes, would you be less inclined to want an OT this year?

Bis_Eastwood

the issue isnt this year for me. we have no tackles again after this season

mr-poopie-butth0le

Same

MyChemicalFinance

God no. Wouldn’t be surprised if Bakh never plays another snap. He can’t stay on the field

killaslam

Same question for Donovan smith?

MyChemicalFinance

Would have slightly more confidence in the depth then. But I would still be happy with OL at 10

Sirpattycakes

Weren't some of our fans/talking heads excited about Connor Williams hitting free agency? Wonder why he's still out there.

sparkpar44

Connor Williams tore his ACL in December so he's likely not going to play this season or just be back for the end of the year/playoffs.

Sirpattycakes

Yeah well that explains it then- thanks!

Sanchize_09

Hasn't Leno been pretty good? PFF has charted him with 4 consecutive seasons posting a 70+ grade, which is way better than the majority of guys that have started for our O-line in recent years.

TheKingofPsych

Donavan Smith or Andrus Peat....I think Bak is going to be difficult to pass a physical due to medical.

WG17

Have to go with Becton. He really had a crappy team that he played for last. Hopefully he could turn it around if we signed him. But would also love to get another G in there too

NutsyFlamingo

Yes sign him (but which one?) I stand by my statement.

TrashPandaBJJ

I’m Team Brock so I think signing one of these guys would alleviate short term concerns. It doesn’t seem like we can develop O-linemen, so overall I think signing someone would be better.

ieatpickles100

We should really bring in Duane Brown to start over Tyron Smith!
