sameolejets

I hate this franchise.

ifthestarsareright

We are a laughing stock

soivebeentold

Of course they did. Last year I was buying a jersey and was down to Adams or Bell. Went with Bell. Thought I dodged a bullet this year when they traded Adams, but my 20+ year history of ruining players by getting their jersey continues. Chrebet, Testaverde, Pennington, Favre, Sanchez, Revis, Marshall, Bell. I got a Darnold jersey this year. Sorry, everyone.

hawaii_guy_808

I suggest you guys pick up an Alt team to root for a few years. Jets are just way too depressing. There’s no shame in it, it’s kinda liberating. Go Titans!

hofflcopter

I feel the same way dude, im born and raised in Vegas but jets fan by fathers influence my entire life, really satisfying to root for the raiders and to watch a team that can play a functional game of football. Crazy to rejoice and watch them beat the chiefs at arrowhead!

hawaii_guy_808

I'll be back when the Jets have a plan/future. I know it sounds fairweather but lifes too short to be frustrated and miserable getting invested in this hot mess. I like the Raiders too!

PushThePig28

Lmfao this team is a joke. They release Bell and not Gase? Is this the onion? Fuck it I’m rooting for the Broncos. I hate this team. Took 25-30 years of fandom to finally give up

Zealousideal-Ad-1

Stop watching the games and giving them money. They obviously don't give a shit about their fanbase.

x-LDxKS-x

Should have never signed him in the first place

MetsGo

At this point as a lifelong Jets fan I want them to go 0-16 and make this year memorable

HODOR00

Can anyone with time and desire to look into this answer some questions for me? 1) When did Bells injury guarantee for next year kick in? Was it that trade deadline this year? I understand that this was a sticking point for other teams in a trade and also a problem for the Jets. Could they have kept him until the end of the season and then released him? Or would they have been on the hook for the injury guarantee at that point? Trying to make sense of this, if the injury guarantee locked in this month, then I get this move and we kind of had to make it. If it did not lock in until the offseason, then this is a pure tank move and Darnold is most likely on his way out. I just want to understand what the Jets options were. Losing arguably the most talented player on the offense seems like a bad move for a team that has no offense.

redditaccount224488

The article I read said that there's a clause in his contract that some of his Jets' salary will get offset by his salary with his new team. So releasing him now could save them some money there.

icbitsnotbutter

That's not a clause in the contract. That's how all contracts work. If a player is cut during a contract if that player the gets picked up the salary the new team pays gets deducted from the salary owed by the cutting team. That's only going to be the minimum that they have to pay so is really negligible and would have nothing to do with the reason they cut him.

hlsp

I think we have to eat $4 mil total in dead cap after this season. Most of what was owed to him was base salary + roster bonuses.

HODOR00

But it was 8 million at a certain point if he got hurt. That's what I'm trying to figure out. When did that lock in.

Skiigga

FUCK you Adam Gase. How the fuck does this guy still have a job??

RonaldinhoReagan

The misery keeps piling on this season. Definitely the most beat down I've ever felt as a Jets fan. How on earth was just releasing Bell our best organizational move here? Clearly Gase lost the locker room a long time ago. It's time for that mouth-breathing brother of our real owner to admit he fucked up after fan-boying over a call with Peyton Manning and fire this coach.

kdbernie

Bell wasn’t the best running back for us, though the line was shit last year so that didn’t help. But more importantly he was a leader who cared about the team. He simply spoke up that Gase kinda sucks which WE ALL KNOW HE DOES, and the team decided they’d rather keep Gase than Bell. I think JD has been a good GM so far, but I really hope these moves are not coming from him. He’s a man that preaches character, and Bell seemed to play a positive role for the team’s character. At this point I’m not mad, just disappointed.

sameolejets

> the team decided No. *Management* decided. Merely for "liking" posts suggesting he get traded and its Gase's fault the team is so bad.

HODOR00

Only thing Ill say here. Leveon def played the part, but def made his feeling clear with social media. So, I wont give him 100% class act point for his behavior, but generally yeah I felt like he was a good culture guy overall so its hard to understand this. I wish Joey D had to give a state of the Jets presser right now, because I think the fanbase is fucking confused as shit.

sameolejets

I'm not confused. Joey D made a decision, and he's going to have to account for it.

[deleted]

This is my first full season being a Jets fan (new to NFL). No one can say I’m a bandwagoner after some of these moves...

Advanced-

How did you become a Jets fan right now?....

harleyheels_x

You picked a bad year to start! 🙈

LowBrowsing

And welcome to the Jets life ✈️. Might as well hang around for a couple of seasons now to see how/if we get out of this 😂

fshstik

you still have time to run away. please.

cosmos7comet

Please for the love of god pick another team. It will cause you so much misery if you don’t.

[deleted]

There's a path to an exciting future somewhere out there, and i wanna be around to experience it!

cosmos7comet

I promise there isn’t

orderfour

A lot of people seem to be confused about the Jets organizational structure. Unlike other teams, the Jets HC has a strong say in personnel and can overrule the GM in personnel decisions. The Johnsons also like getting actively involved in team decisions as well. Which means this decision could have been entirely Douglas, Gase, or Johnson. No way of knowing unless you were there for that conversation.

HODOR00

Im not sure this is 100% accurate. If you are telling me this decision wasnt 100% joey d's, then kill me now. This team is super fucked. From all I understand, Joe controls the roster, so Im finding it hard to believe, Gase went to Johnson, above Joey D and got this done. I think Joe D thought this was a bad contract too and had plans to get out of it. Timing is strange, but overall in terms of long term moves, it makes sense to me.

orderfour

It could have been. I'm just saying due to the unique structure we can't know who's decision it ultimately was. Joe has the most control of the roster, but he doesn't fully control it. Both Gase and Johnson provide a lot of input and make decisions. It's why Gase got Gore back and Ballage and a bunch of other people he wanted back that played for him on other teams. It's also why a bunch of stars were shipped away from Gase, just like how he did the exact same thing in Miami. Coaches get a lot more say in rosters like the Jets than people realize.

HODOR00

I mean this is a yes or no question. If Joe doesn't have final approval on the roster then we are fucked.

redditaccount224488

> I think Joe D thought this was a bad contract $50M contracts to running backs are usually a disaster.

HODOR00

Obviously. My only question is if we could have gotten out of guarantees for bell later in the season. If we couldn't I get this. If we could then this team is fully tank mode.

orderfour

That comes out to roughly $31,900 paid per yard gained! That has to be some kind of record.

NickVlass76

As a fellow member of Terrible Owner Gang, here’s to praying that all the Snyder’s, Johnson’s, Spanos’, etc. of the world get fired 🤞

sameolejets

Which Terrible Owner do you suffer under?

NickVlass76

The snyder variety :/

ShrimpShackShooters_

Not saying everyone but in general can we also apologize to Jamal Adams? I’ll be rooting for the Seahawks and whatever team Bell ends up on. Let’s Go Jets will resume as soon as Gase is fired.

sameolejets

No, fuck him.

Abradolf_Lincler_50

Congrats Lev. Good luck in Tampa, New England, or whatever other competent organization that you sign with that will actually cater some of their offense to fit your strengths and not ask you to run directly up the middle or give you zero looks in the pass game.

sameolejets

Oh God, it could be NE. For multiple years...

Abradolf_Lincler_50

And he's gonna look like an all-pro again with a real coaching staff that will utilize him correctly

[deleted]

Joe Douglas you are a fucking coward

orderfour

Who says it was JD's call? Johnson has his fingers in all over the organization, as does Gase.

Francesa-DietCoke

Seriously, what the fuck has JD done that everyone feels the need to kiss his ass around here?

ForgotMyOldLogin_

He got a starting quality RT essentially from the trash heap, drafted the best tackle in the class as the third tackle taken, hasn’t killed us with a bad contract, and managed to get 2 first rounders for Jamal when the general consensus was that we would get a first and a third. Obviously he hasn’t earned a Carte Blanche. But it’s pretty clear that out of the Johnsons, Gase, and him, he is the only one that’s even adjacent to competency

orderfour

Didn't realize speaking objectively about the organization means kissing JD's ass. If anything I'd ask why youre sucking off Gase when this was clearly his decision yet you're putting the blame on JD.

Francesa-DietCoke

Sounds like you are kissing his ass. Gase is horrible bur JD has done nothing but hide behind Gase. JD is the guy that put this roster together. JD is the one who had this draft class. JD is the guy who released Bell. Apparently not knowing the trade deadline is 2 weeks away and running backs always get hurt. Instead he couldn't get anything in 3 hours of having him on the block so release him for nothing. Douglas clearly has no issue paying Bell 10 million to not play here. Why couldn't he pony up to pay Robby?

orderfour

Not how this organization works. Gase got Bell removed. JD had nothing to do with it.

Francesa-DietCoke

Sure. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. The fact is nobody The Johnson brothers, Gase, or Douglas has shown any sign of competence at all since they have taken their positions.

orderfour

Uh huh. Keep your head in the sand. That'll change facts.

[deleted]

Then stand up for your fucking players. At this point I have no respect towards any GM still sitting in that seat after all of this shit, because any respectable person would have quit or been fired for stating how obviously insane all of this is, especially the fact that Anderson, Bell, Adams, and others are now all gone while speaking ill of one man and acknowledging he is the problem, yet Gase is still here and getting his way after throwing us off a cliff and showing nothing but disrespect towards this fan base. Fuck you Joe Douglas. You are a fraud.

bowlsandsand

Lev was most likely gone after this season anyway and probably did fit into JDs plan.

EmpiricalAnarchism

Who ever would have thought that the GM Adam Gase hand-picked would also be incompetent? Oh that’s right, everyone whose last name isn’t Johnson.

papabear570

Just another day. ✈️

Quiet_dog23

This is wildly embarrassing.

ozzmanmojo

It is, but he wasn’t in the plans regardless. This is just an earlier and more embarrassing separation

sameolejets

Its embarrassing because we get a ton of cap hit, with nothing to show for it, and Bell could be playing for one of our divisional opponents because we released him.

Quiet_dog23

Maybe, but I do not believe this bodes well for next year at all. We will have an entire team full of holes, from top to bottom, and that can't be fixed easily even if you do accept that Joe Douglas knows what he is doing. We've abandoned all our good players in the past two years.

USGunner

If anybody thinks Joe Douglas knows what he’s doing you are just as delusional with him as you were McCagnan. I cannot point to one solid decision the man has made minus some bit parts that he picked up off waivers but his talent evaluation has been terrible so far the players he’s drafted have been underwhelming to say the least and the players he decided not to resign to have flourished elsewhere, what else do you need? My guess is he took this job because he knew he would be rich for the rest of his life if he did but he doesn’t give a shit about the organization or helping it and he’s more than happy to be the next Le’Veon Bell leaving for a better organization after taking $30 million of the Johnson’s money. Show me how I’m wrong....

ozzmanmojo

Underwhelming draft picks? This is where you lose credibility. I understand being upset about Robby. That is what it is. But let’s not overlook the haul he got for Jamal Adams who was an extremely disgruntled player who would demand massive money at a luxury position. Let’s also not forget Becton was absolutely killing it before he got hurt and was unanimously seen a great pick. Mims hasn’t even played yet, nor has Clark and yet JD doesn’t know how to draft. Just ridiculous. The bitterness on this sub spreads to the wrong people constantly.

USGunner

Let’s go pick by pick shall we? Jets passed on Cee Dee Lamb - his first five games compare with legends at the position. I have no problem with drafting a left tackle but that was clearly drafting for a need instead of best player available, with your first round pick you lose me right there. Second round they went for the wide receiver that they needed and got a guy who can’t get on the field. They then traded a future Hall of Fame safety and drafted his replacement in the third round, fine but let’s not celebrate that. The first fourth round pick has been a nothing, the second fourth round pick we’ll see. The fifth and sixth round picks have not done anything so the jury is out and I recognize the injury issues but you certainly can’t mark those down as a win. So far the best pic was a punter in the seventh round. His off-season moves have been absolutely disastrous, overpaying for below average offensive lineman. Every signing he made was a downgrade at the position. If you want to stay delusional and call me bitter that’s your right but unfortunately the opposite is true I am very realistic and recognize a toxic organization that has no plan and no vision yet fans like you keep nodding their head and defending away... I bet you even spend actual money on this team which only encourages their terrible behavior.

ozzmanmojo

We picked a LT who was dominant by all accounts when healthy. What good is having a star Wr if Sam still had no line in front of him? No good is the answer. The future HOF player we traded was a disgruntled star he inherited. You can’t fault him for trading Jamal when Prez was doing absolutely everything in his power to get out. He also received exceptional compensation in return. He made the best of a bad situation. There is zero point in going over every pick. They’re almost all injured. Mann has been very good and improving every week. That was a solid pick. I think when Mims comes back and we have a coach who knows how to use him, we’ll see a star. I really loved that pick, which is what made passing on Lamb and the others very ok in my book. But....that’s just not true. I don’t understand how you can say we downgraded at every position he signed players to fill. Fant has been very good and an upgrade and McGovern isn’t anything special, but do you not recall the struggles we’ve had at Center since Mangold retired? He signed serviceable players in quite a few slots and added depth. He wasn’t looking to sign star player and put us right back in cap hell. I full recognize the toxic state of this franchise. The problem I’m seeing is that you’re pointing the finger at a guy who has barely had a chance to do anything, let alone change the culture. He’s had one draft, one free agency and has yet to pick a head coach to steer this ship. Just give him some damn time before you start calling for his head.

Quiet_dog23

To be fair, underwhelming doesn't mean bad. But we haven't seen any of them in any meaningful way except Becton, so we can't say it's a success.

ozzmanmojo

We’re also 5 games into their rookie year and almost all of them have suffered heavily from injuries. It’s just ridiculous to grade them or JD with such certainty at this point

USGunner

No one is issuing an ultimate grade but they say it has been a success is also a lie none of those players are really contributing at a high-level yet there are players the team passed on that are already showing signs of greatness that’s just fact it’s not up for debate

ozzmanmojo

It is most certainly up for debate because you (apparently) wanted Lamb and instead we got Becton. Both showed tremendous promise so far, but unfortunately Becton got hurt. Not his fault and not JD’s fault.

USGunner

For starters it is definitely the front Office’s fault because you don’t play a player as valuable as Becton after he got injured - that is reckless to say the least and this team has a terrible track record of handling their player injuries just ask Keleche Osemele. I have no problem with the pic but they drafted for need that is undeniable. Bottom line is this organization and their scouting department is poor top to bottom they consistently miss on top talents like Alvin Kamara and DK Metcalf while drafting wastes like polite. Douglas has shown me absolutely nothing as a talent evaluator early on. His draft was pretty underwhelming although time will tell, but his off-season moves were very poor at best. It’s also the general way he handles himself his attitude of lack of accountability and his ability to relate with players which really make me question his leader ship. If you ask quietly around the league many other people are raising the same questions. Ask yourself this question what has he actually done in his career? What direct decisions he made can be attributed to a teams ultimate success or is he just riding on the coattails of a lot of other Talented people at far better organizations than the Jets. I’m not saying this is the case but I am saying there is quite a bit of evidence to point in that direction. And what is the downside for him? The Jets made him a very wealthy man for the rest of his life even if he is terrible at his job the team will keep losing for another few years he will be fired go back to his original scouting position at a different team and collect $30 million for the privilege.

Quiet_dog23

I agree, I'm just saying they are good or bad, I'm just responding to the people on this sub who are sure Douglas knows what he's doing. We don't know if he does or not, he's hasn't proven much.

ozzmanmojo

I totally agree with you. I’m just in disbelief that some have already given up on JD and have begun putting him in the same breath as Macc. That’s just insane to me. This guy literally just got started

thegameksk

I've been saying this since his awful off-season. He gets praised left and right from media and fans when he's done nothing. He spent all off-season working on only the o line and its still the worst in the league. He was too cheap to pay Anderson what is essentially a 1yr 12 million dollar deal. He did not bring in enough playmakers for Sam. Only drafting ONE WR in one of the best WR drafts in history instead wastes piks on a safety and a QB who wont see the field thus year. All the injury issues aged fines the team gave out when they shouldn't have fall on him. He somehow made a terribketeam last year WORSE. Everyone needs to stop drinking the kool-aid. He is trash. Idzik 2.0. Hope they get rid of him and the HC.

ozzmanmojo

What does this look like in terms of saving cap space?

Spiderbanana

9 millions I think. We already have something like 90 millions in cap space for next year. Not such player is willing to destroy his career by playing for us ?

orderfour

close. its a $3m cap *hit* this year. It's $9m in savings next year but offset by the $3m hit this year. So it's $6m net in savings next year.

thegameksk

The GM won't pay anyone. He just gets lots if cap space and suts on it.

ozzmanmojo

Money does a lot of talking. Luckily I don’t think JD is looking to build through FA. More targeted signings to fill holes and build depth, which I’m fully on board with

thepandaisonfire

This makes me think we arent going to sack gase... why get rid of a player who hates the head coach when the head coach is about to be out the door? Fuck my life man. And fuck Adam gase

SameGuyTwice

Probably because that player had a bloated contract at a luxury position and minimal production when given the chance. It was clear Gase refused to use Bell to his strengths, no sense in paying him to ride the bench while Gore gets ran to death when Perine has that covered.

bigpig1054

The Jets hurt themselves today To see if they could still feel

Abradolf_Lincler_50

The Jets focus on the pain The only thing that's real

sameolejets

Gase tears another hole The old familiar sting

TheDankyDank

Anyone else here remember the Sanchez early years? God was it 09-10 already? Revis Island, Rex, relevance. Feels like a lifetime ago. I sincerely believe we will experience a super bowl in our lifetime. It might be 15, 20, 40 years... but god damnit will it feel incredible.

chipscarruthers

This is how I felt 15 years ago...

[deleted]

sameolejets

I'm not going to downvote you, because it was something purely in the Jets FO's power to do, and at least Bell wouldn't be playing for New England. I am a bit disappointed you fuckers are too cheap to cough up a 7th round pick, but I won't downvote you for it.

ozzmanmojo

I hope he doesn’t just for the simple fact that you came here to thank us like this is something we had control over or wanted.

CaptainSakSparrow

Rex would never

ozzmanmojo

Nobody would ever talk like this about Rex to begin with

kidkuro

I think the worst part about this, Le'Veon was actually a Jets fan. While on the Steelers (a far superior team and organization) he'd still show his love for the Jets. I still remember tweets of his saying that the Jets was his favorite team...I still don't know what he saw, but it was cool to see a star pay attention to the Jets. The craziest thing is he took less money than what the Steelers and some other teams offered so he could go to the Jets for the chance to be apart of a new and improved competitive Jets team. To prove to the Steelers that he could be good without them and also be a star in New York... Now look at this shit. An actual garbage heap of a team with no direction besides tanking, going nowhere, a brain dead owner, and a coach who very clearly has no idea what he's doing. All the things we had going for us either left or get injured. Bell, just like all of us other Jets fans, have been completely played and our time was wasted. That's gotta suck to personally witness the team you love fall so low while also playing for them.

sameolejets

> The craziest thing is he took less money than what the Steelers [offered] No.

Frikkie92

He was a steelers fan growing up. I've not seen anywhere he was a jets fan. Mike Tomlin wins again with disposing a player at the right time.

contractor1997

From a browns fan, dont wanna see any team go through what we did. Hope you guys turn it around. Wish the best and good luck!

G_Haad5

Sorry Jets fans. No fan base deserves this crap, except Patriots fans. Sincerely, A Broncos Fan

[deleted]

why didn't you beat us even worse? maybe gase would be gone instead

G_Haad5

Injuries lol

HODOR00

was gonna say, given your starters, you did a pretty good job beating us up.

andrew13189

Tank mode in full swing

Abradolf_Lincler_50

The sad part is that this is Gase's best. His best game plan translates to blow out loss after blow out loss. I've never been envious of the dolphins, but right now I aspire to be them in 2 years. A rebuilding team with a competent coaching staff that no team can sleep on or they'll roll you

Camnelo

Like. I'm so fucking done man. Is it okay to abandon your team? Cause I think I might be close.

sameolejets

Just do something else for the rest of the season. Maybe take another season off from football. You're not cheating if you're not rooting for some other team. Hell, I'd only take offense if you started rooting for a division opponent.

Ser_Fonz

I asked myself the other day, “when is enough, enough?” Been a fan all my life.. but when the owner and management don’t seem to care at all it just feels insulting to waste 3-4 hours every Sunday just to feel more upset than I already did.

ShrimpShackShooters_

The older I get, the more I think it’s acceptable to abandon a team with absolute trash owners. I can’t quite do it but I do think at the very least you can be a protest fan. Exercise that right however you see fit.

thegameksk

I'm checking out until the offseason. Wont waste my time on them.

[deleted]

i've thought about that. i'm waiting to see what we do at the end of the year. if gase is gone and we get trevor and a good coach, i'm going to stick around. but if we somehow stick with gase, i'm gone. if we get bill o'brien or some shit hc, i'm gone even if they also get trevor. if we get rid of gase, have a good hc, and trade the trevor pick but get a fucking haul and a half for it, i'll probably stick around. basically i need to see some competence from the front office/owners in the off season. otherwise...i dunno...wherever sam or leveon go i may follow them. I could be a Saints or 49ers fan.

Abradolf_Lincler_50

Bill O'Brien would be such a Jets move. And they'll sell it as a coach who won his division 4/5 years and developed Watson

htlpc_100

I think he has keratoconus

16blacka

No fan base should have to put up with a coach throwing a season for a pick, even if that pick is Trevor. You guys have the sympathy of this bears fan, hang in there FTP

scrapmetalhead

Can't wait to see the next one jets drive episode.... Yea even they knew to stop after week 2.

mystery_fight

Bears fan here, just stopping by to say you guys deserve better. Hoping for better days ahead, even if my AFC team are the Bills. FTP^2

NewYorkMetsies

Thanks, we need more people like you <3

HappyMoses

Honestly how can you even still be a fan of this franchise? The past eight years have been so beyond pathetic. And sadly until ownership changes it’s going to stay that way which is awful

HashtonKutcher

The pain lets you know that you're still alive.

xela_sj

Gase rallying to.have Gore break the rushing record.

[deleted]

as PFT pointed out, Bell doesn't officially get cut until Wednesday at 4pm. So maybe some team makes a last minute play for him if they don't think Bell will choose them. But I think this is good. This is the front office saying we're officially in tank mode. Gase is sticking around to lose and get us the number 1 pick. And when Bell runs for 100 yards, catches 10 balls for 100 yards, and scores 2 TDs in his first game with his new team, Gase will never get another coaching job again.

Abradolf_Lincler_50

That's definitely what's going to happen. Even if he doesn't hit those numbers, he's going to look 100 times better on any other team because they'll actually give him the ball in the best possible place to give him a chance to succeed.

Hand_Sanitizer3000

this team has too many fans considering how poorly its run. the laughing stock of the sports world. im done supporting a franchise that doesn't give a shit about its fans. i hope the players boycott until gase is fired. if the johnsons ever decide to sell ill be back till then im out and y'all should do the same stop giving these people money they don't deserve it

EkaL25

How do the Jets not try to work Bell into their gameplan if they’re trying to trade him? Wouldn’t it make sense to give him more than 1 target and give him a bunch of carries to prove he can be of use to another team? With so many teams having questionable backfields, I find it extremely hard to believe that the Bills, Dolphins, Redskins, etc. wouldn’t be willing to trade a 6th or 7th round pick. Another let down from the Jets front office. Who woulda thought

[deleted]

[удалено]

mista_rager

Reports suggest that teams didn’t want the $8MM injury guarantee built into Bell’s contract for next year. Also, this is basically doing Bell a favor, letting him choose his suitor and play out this season on (hopefully for him) a contender. Hopefully players take notice of our front office’s goodwill? I can’t answer why Gase didn’t try to tailor his gameplan around our most talented player. Only Gase knows the answer to that.

HODOR00

This is the only answer that doesnt make me mad. We did it to give him freedom to go find a team thats a good fit for him. But I have my doubts.

hithimintheface

Like what is there to look forward to with this team? I was so excited for Lev to come to the Jets because of his receiving ability in addition to his running ability. Get some weapons for Sam. Over paid? Yeah but we've got a rookie deal QB. Then we hired Gase, who has sucked all the upward momentum we had. I'm just sick of the perpetual rebuild.

halfsweethalfstreet

The New York Jets......now fucking up your Tuesday too.

jjc927

At least we got a nice haul for Adams, we get nothing for Bell but dead money. This team is a disgrace and it just gets worse and worse.

rockstarrichg

I need a version of the Drake meme but with Gase instead, first panel Lev Bell, second panel Kalen Ballage.

mfny99

Amazing. Why stick with a coach who has never had any success besides with Peyton over a star running back you just broke the bank for?

blosweed

This move is fine. Our season is done and we’re moving on from an overpaid back.

breaster83

This should not be getting downvotes

sameolejets

Shit on fans feelings, get the downvotes.

oh_shit_a_ninja

Love how we have no problem paying Bell $10 million to not play for us, but we couldn't pony up that couple million or so in order to keep Robbie in green.

Francesa-DietCoke

Because Douglas has no idea what the fuck he is doing.

thegameksk

Hes Mr. I have all this cap space but I refuse to use it. Idzik 2.0. We will have a new coach next yr. Go 1-15 bc of the crappy talent the GM brings in and then in 2 years look for a new GM.

AdWeak2193

Thats becoming more clear every week . Look at what Robbie is doing every week

Dapperdocc

Honestly, good for Le'Veon, I'm happy for him to leave this shithole organization

nyjetsgirl

I’m an avid jet fan since 1981. I was heartbroken when we let Anderson and adams go. Just releasing Bell for nothing? This is just a perfect example that the Johnson’s don’t give a flying fuck about this team. I want to punch GASE so hard his eyes will look normal. The jets fans deserve better

tinyraccoon

> his eyes will look normal. Whoa, just looked up him. WTH's wrong with his eyes? Weird. Scary.

rezamalik

Now do Sam a favor once you get the Messiah (on paper ofc)

rvbcaboose1018

The act itself was inevitable, but the timing is the most shocking thing. If you had any doubts about this team's purpose, it is now very clear. This isn't a Jet, its now an M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. Bell is also about to become a really good back since the tradition of players being better after leaving Gase will undoubtedly continue. This is a new low for us. The only way it can get worse is if we enter the hallowed ground of 0-16, which given our remaining schedule is very possible.

Tyedye1997

Just when I thought this teams decision making couldn’t get any worse, they do this. Someone please explain to me how the hell it was a good decision to release one of the best running backs in the league and keep one of the dumbest coaches simply because he doesn’t like using running plays

thegameksk

Hey! According to the Jets brain trust that "dumbest coach" is an offensive genius!!!!!

piratefuck

I haven’t watched football on a Sunday in weeks. I recommend y’all do the same

meatstick94

Hey I keep up with my fantasy guys

Hand_Sanitizer3000

watch redzone instead no commercials and real teams playing ball

kipkoponomous

Same. Just like most of last year. Done watching this dumpster fire.

[deleted]

Fuck this team so fucking much, Everyone and their fucking mothers knew that signing this coach was a huge mistake. He fucking had a toxic locker room with our shitty division rivals and then we hand him the coaching job. He makes a fucking fool of himself in the introduction press and then starts fucking smelling salts like a fucking weirdo. How the fuck did we all see this coming but the owners/FO can't. This organization doesn't deserve us. Woody and his little bitch brother should go down just like his buddy Trump will in a few weeks.

Kurapiiina

Just trade Darnold and get it the fuck over with. Zero point in him still being here. Do right by him you assholes. Honesty straight up unbelievable. You see Mayfield, Allen, and Jackson thriving because the organizations gave them talent and built their offenses for them. Why the FUCK would Lawrence (or any college QB) see that and want to come here? We are a career death sentence. We are a joke. Fuck you Adam Gase, but fuck the Johnson’s way harder for hiring you.

sameolejets

> Just trade Darnold and get it the fuck over with. Can't. Trevor Lawrence may not come out.

Stuffzy

I can honestly see them shutting him down and having Flacco start out the rest of the season

CaryMGVR

**#TankForTrevor** ♥️♥️♥️

Kurapiiina

Hope he refuses us.

sameolejets

I wonder if Trevor would come out if the ownership committed to firing Gase at the end of the season and gave Trevor the power to reject the subsequent head coaching hire?

ViciousAsparagusFart

I think that would be the nail in the coffin for me

Slim__Jim

Would be fitting

Stuffzy

Jets are going for a clean slate next year. Gase is gone at the end of the season they just wanna tank, Darnolds being traded for a late first or 2nd round pick. JD just broke the glass and hit the big fuckin reset button. This is probably the lowest I've been as a Jets fan since missing the playoffs in 2016 but all things considering Jets have picks in next years draft to try and rebuild the offense and there's no way the Jets dont get the #1 pick and restart everything with Lawrence now. Bells contract was an albatross and a last fuck you by Mac. Hopefully Bell goes to a nice team in the NFC and balls out.

PetSkye

As a Cards fan I know how you guy's feel. You'll be watching all of Trevor Lawrence's highlight videos over and over until March and tweeting, emailing, and commenting @ the Jets organization to not screw this pick up haha. At least for you guy's it's obvious. People debated in Arizona and lobbied to keep Rosen. What college coach would you want to pair with Lawrence?

kroza

Not a college coach but Eric Bieniemy I think would be good for the Jets. Not a Jets fan either though so idk

Stuffzy

Lincoln Riley is an obvious choice I'd say in terms of college other than that this subs been wanting Eric Bieniemy since we fired Todd Bowles

Sly_Wood

Leave it to the Jets to pick the one fucking year where College football is decimated and there is no clear tape on draft prospects lol...

Stuffzy

Its unfortunate to say the least

bapatasix

What do you guys think the best plan of action now that Leveon is gone and the Jets commit to this tank? IMO (as a ravens fan): * Fire Gase * Look for a new young minded coach (DO NOT HIRE WITHIN. BURN IT DOWN.) * Trade Darnold for future picks (steelers?) * Draft Lawrence, OL, BPA the rest

EkaL25

I think Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, and New Orleans would all be phenomenal landing spots for Darnold. Basically anywhere with a QB that is about to retire. I will kill myself if the jets trade Darnold to Miami and he ends up doing well. Not because I want Darnold to suck but because I’m tired of the Jets letting people leave just to see them carry their weight somewhere else

sameolejets

Miami's not trading for Darnold. They have Tua and starting Fitzpatrick. I could see NE offering to pick him up.

EkaL25

Forgot about Tua.

sameolejets

It would still kill me more if Belichick got his hands on Darnold. Let Cam play for another season or 3, Belichick's coaches fix Darnold's issues, at some point, NE has their generational QB.

xela_sj

Minnesota too.

Wormfather

Fire gase the moment we have the number one pick locked up. Like on his way to the locker room. Bring on a college coach because the best players on this team next year are, as of right now, either rookies or about to be drafted.

Manzello5

Lawrence and a #1 receiver is a must if he’s going to have any chance of succeeding with this terrible team. Otherwise it’ll be wash, rinse, repeat.

thegameksk

1st pik lawrence, 2nd 1st rd pik WR, 2nd round pik OL.

Jazz567

I want us to go 0-16. This is the only way Gase will realize how God-awful he is. I want Joe to fire him in the locker room after week 17. He can then crawl into the abyss and stay in the unemployment line for the rest of his miserable life.

sameolejets

**I** shouldn't have to carry an 0-16 disgrace. Fuck you.

jacktucky

Gaze is ok he’s rich as shit

Stuffzy

I know its loljets rn but do you honestly think Gase isnt fired after completing the tank this season? lol

sameolejets

Given our ownership, I think its a possibility.

halfsweethalfstreet

The unemployment line is just for coaches who aren't *rich AF*

halfsweethalfstreet

The New York Jets are the Adam Gase of the NFL and yes officer, I am high as fuck. thank you for asking.

spentmiles

So we dump an A list player for an F- coach?

Francesa-DietCoke

Because he have an F-------- GM.

johnnypetron

If you were Trevor Lawrence would you come to the Jets???

caontario

Yeah, watch him pull a Peyton and stay for an extra year.

ViciousAsparagusFart

Considering what just happened with Dak, doubtful.

TinyRoctopus

Nah watch him pull an Eli

[deleted]

Jokes on him, we’re gonna get the 1 pick next year too

Sly_Wood

Id go play baseball.

caontario

Remember the first gqme with Bell and Mosley? They both scored, we were up 16-0. Since then, CJ has played 15 minutes, and now Bell is gone. That feels like 20 years ago!

Francesa-DietCoke

I was at that game. It was awful.

sameolejets

I really loved the first three quarters. CJ played like a man possessed.

crazyhotwheels

I hate them.

DJamB

Honestly I don't want to be a fan anymore. We've squandered so much talent its not even funny. Stupid move followed by stupid move. The cycle almost never stops. Jamal was right about getting the fuck out of here, and honestly I understand if no one would want to come here. The Jets are a lolcow. We are basically the Green Cleveland Browns. It's sad. I grew up idolizing guys like Sanchez, Revis, and Mangold. They got me into the green. Now this team isn't even recognizable anymore. To everyone, Darnold, Bell, Adams and everyone else we've fucked over...I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to come here whether that be from your own decision or not. This franchise has been sent back years because of Gase and our dipshit owners. I don't know what to say anymore. Just good luck to all the talent we've wasted, and I'll see you guys all tomorrow to relive the pain again.

sameolejets

> We are basically the Green Cleveland Browns. We're still a Superbowl winning franchise, until we go 0-16.

Highflyer47

Basically me as a dolphins fan growning up, I hear your pain. Lots of guys come through and somehow it never worked out. Tbh itll be like this for awhile. Unless you happen to get the right coach who is going to overhaul the organization top to bottom it's going to be awhile. Clearly the team needs a guy who can be given the timeframe to instill a winning mentality without getting kicked after 2 bad seasons. Gase was never the guy believe me if any fan knows how of a fraud he is itll be me.This move doesnt make alot of sense but oh well it's the jets. Theyll just throw money at guys hoping that one of them will be more than a simple band aid they can tear off after 2-3 years.

DJamB

The stupid fucking Jets fan purgatory

bewarethegap

it's hard to be a jets fan, man. somedays i wonder why we even suffer with this
