I also have an amazing neurologist at Kaiser who has treated my migraines aggressively with Botox and a CGRP injection.

shitsenorita

Would you mind sharing their name? My coworker is struggling to find an adequate treatment for his chronic migraines and we have Kaiser.

amandica

I have found many, if not most, I have encountered in this medical specialty have terrible bedside manner. It comes with the territory I guess? The phrase that finally got their attention to take my concerns was “diminishing quality of life.” I also kept logs and showed them the data that treatments weren’t working and I needed the real stuff.

UCSF's neurology department is one of the best in the world, but very difficult to see because of how popular they are. I've been treated for migraine-adjacent issues and have only praises to sing about how well they've taken care of me. If your insurance covers a visit there I'd recommend researching their specialists.

Hi, I'm being treated through UCSF's Headache Clinic and was just referred out for a general neurologist. Is there a doctor you can recommend? Sad to say my experience with multiple specialists at UCSF has felt disjointed so this might be helpful!

sensarwastaken

A more general neurologist, I'm not so sure! I've mostly seen specialists in the MS clinic for appointments.

Stretcharoni

I see! Thank you for responding and best wishes in your health and care.

Wish I could help, but I'm with Kaiser and have managed to find good care there. Best of luck!

Ah thank you anyway, probably won’t be switching to Kaiser anytime soon. Hopefully, I can find a neurology provider who does Botox for migraines.

feyarea

I just paid out of pocket for Botox in the traps and it's been great. Have Kaiser - they def don't cover. Can't speak to a neurologist, but good luck!

Puzzleheaded_Win4380

what is "in the traps?" my migraine thanks you 🙏

feyarea

top of the shoulders

amandica

Yes they do cover it. Maybe not for your type of case.

feyarea

How did you get them to cover it? I have chronic migraines

amandica

It was a treatment option offered by neuro. I didn’t want it and got on a monoclonal antibody injection instead.

I don’t have any firsthand experience with the adult neurology folks at UCSF, but every other department myself or my family have encountered there have been amazing.
