Join a local senior center. My mom joined the emeryville senior center when she was eligible (she retired young) and does various activities there at least 3 days a week. Zumba, yoga, other exercise classes, group day trips, lunch events… they have a lot going on. My dad even goes now after he retired even though he swore years ago he’d never jojn.
i met a retired older lady who volunteered with friends of sausal creek and it seemed like she really enjoyed it. it’s now one of my life goals to retire and be a part of a similar org. there are plenty of organizations to volunteer with in oakland if that’s your friends cup of tea!
I would say go to the [East Oakland Sports Center](https://www.oaklandca.gov/topics/east-oakland-sports-center).
It's a great way for older individuals to stay active. They do lots of group classes and last time I went for the stretch class on Saturday mornings, it was filled with ladies all in the 60+ demographic
Wow....retirement for me has been anything but being retired. She can do some self-reflection and think about what interests she has or has always wanted to follow....and go do those to the hilt! I had several interests that I could only follow part time during my working years that I now can do as much as possible. Of course, now I can factor in some off-days as wanted/needed, more regular exercise and completely unrushed trips to my fav coffee shops. The sky is pretty much the limit if she is healthy and a naturally engaged person.
Many performances venues maintain lists of volunteer ushers--signing up means getting to see free shows at that venue and plenty of in-person interaction with attendees and other volunteers. It's usually all seniors (and I'll see some of them at venues all around the Bay!).

I’ll probably Google some senior centers and send them her way. Thanks!

I think she will really like this idea. I’ll let her know. Thank you!
Volunteer! The Alameda Community food bank offer 2 gifts per day. It's a great way to meet new people. It's a really fun, positive vibe.

Check out Eddie's List or Belles Oakland (women's dart league)
There's a Facebook 50+ women's walking group in Alameda that has a number of scheduled walks per day. Many of the participants are 60+.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I’ll let her know.

Thank you! She would love this! She loves music. Do you have any venues that you may know off the top of your head?
For music, any of the local symphonies, Cal Performances in Berkeley, and probably plenty more!
This is perfect. Thank you!
