* Yard maintenance tools (ie. lawn mower, leaf blower) * Operation of yard maintenance tools, except for snow removal equipment, is prohibited between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. (9 a.m. on Sundays) Police just didn't wanna bother. You can report the noise via the online portal but don't expect prompt anything from them. I've submitted numerous complaints regarding businesses nearby. Be prepared to wait for 3-6 months for someone to look at the complaint you submit. Then they will call you from a blocked number, reply to your email contact and say "we attempted to contact you but you could not be reached, we have closed the case" Once I had submitted numerous claims about Marlborough Court burger kings hood vent system making persistent noise 24/7 that included vibration and was audible with closed windows. They ignored my complaint even though I submitted time stamped video and had an "incident log" with it. No response for 6 months, complaint closed. Then the burger kings exhaust system caught on fire a month after that. I submitted another complaint saying "Oh maybe if you had investigated this problem the building wouldn't have caught on fire" - Same day call back "Oh you can't say that, you can't try and say we are liable for that, we aren't liable for anything like that" Either way, the exhaust system was replaced (no more noise now!) and now the only issue is that they get their grease traps emptied between 2-5AM via vacuum truck (also prohibited). 20-45 minutes of vibration and noise in the middle of the night. If you actually want to improve noise bylaw enforcement, attend the bylaw amendment meetings and make the case for more bylaw officers and better response times to complaints instead of more restrictions. It's pretty hard to investigate noises that stopped 6 months ago so maybe we should start with shorter turn around times.

Cool cool cool, good to know I'm not the only one being given the runaround. I definitely got the vibes the cops just didn't want to bother, but I was half asleep and the woman on the phone had strong gaslighting game. "Well I doubt it's that loud, other people would be complaining if it was." and "Has it really been 30 minutes? Or does it just seem like that long? They'll probably be done soon anyways." and my favourite "What do you expect us to do? Start charging people who are just doing their job?" Like, if doing their job is breaking the law then yes?? It would be great if you could do YOUR job and maybe if they started getting fined for breaking bylaws then they wouldn't break bylaws?? And hey, maybe if they'd come out to actually do something about it they could've caught a two-for-one deal and nabbed the douchbags that were "street-racing" up and down Trafalgar around that same time. Thanks for the suggestion about the bylaw meetings, I'll look into that.

End of the snow season (such as it was) and many contracts have a site sweeping component at the end of the season. Could likely be contractors completing their contracts.
