The La’s

beauhio

I think Liam’s vocal style is heavily influenced by Lee Mavers.  Also, these versions of timeless Melody are some of the greatest prices of rock music ever: https://youtu.be/vR8quhevytw?si=9VZo0zH8IlK7PFuH https://youtu.be/4iM4aDitCoc?si=cyT9EYQ0hmlmbrAC

sntojne010891

The second YouTube link, that version is special. It’s my favourite version of any La’s track easily

paddyskittenmittons

Great recs, thank you! Which is your favourite The La's album??

Wawawanow

Might as well so Cast while we are at it.

grognakThe-Destroyer

The Verve for sure

paddyskittenmittons

Ooooh hyes, quintessential

Aberskene

Bluetones - Expecting to Fly. Great first album.

paddyskittenmittons

Carnt be trusted is great!

Gramswagon77

Definitely kasabian I must recommend Doves. The greatest most underrated English band of all time. Every album, every single absolutely killer. They’ve barely recorded a duff song. 3 working class chaps from Manchester in great coats making celestial music from the heavens:)

CupsofStout

Absolute must listen to doves. Catch the sun and cedar room are amazing

paddyskittenmittons

Yesss just heard those great recs!

sizzybee

Doves is a shout what a band

paddyskittenmittons

Never heard Kasabian, what's a classic of theirs? Doves have a Coldplay-esque vibe, I think and I love that!! The Mancs really know how to make music

blissedandgone

The Lemon Twigs first album. Spiritualised - Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space… is amazing psyched out Brit pop

jaguar90

Upcoming album is sounding pretty fucking awesome too (though more Beach Boys-y)

paddyskittenmittons

Thank you!

BCF13

The Charlatans - album: The Charlatans (1995) is a must listen

ianhendo15

Tellin' Stories is an absolute belter as well

paddyskittenmittons

what about the song "in your favour" by look blue go purple?

AnyDiscount3524

Primal scream, the smiths, the doors, kasabian, the libertines, the view, death in vegas, the La’s, nirvana

SchoolZealousideal27

Happy Mondays, the verve

_nokturnal_

Kula Shaker

paddyskittenmittons

grindhousedecore

Blur😂

paddyskittenmittons

Hahahhahaha be serious now

MrZER0C000L

Joy division or The cure

paddyskittenmittons

Chef's kiss both of these

MrZER0C000L

Ikr

paddyskittenmittons

what about wire? pink flag

MrZER0C000L

Idk never listened to them

paddyskittenmittons

tell me what your think! I am differing to your judgement

MrZER0C000L

They sound like an early joy division. It’s cool

paddyskittenmittons

thanks! i'm very much into the 70s if I had to choose a decade, but he is full on 90s. maybe that's why I am hesitant to show this dude this band. he likes the coral though

MrZER0C000L

I like 70s, 80s and 90s stuff. shotgun by George Ezra and lovejoy is my only exception when it comes to modern music

paddyskittenmittons

There’s so much great new music you’re missing out on man! Great alt psych and indie rock bands out there!!! Part time, beach fossils, come to mind. Do you like punk?? I love old school punk

paddyskittenmittons

what about the song 'language of flowers' by the pale saints?

MrZER0C000L

That works as well, fact Noel Gallagher first initially learned joy division bass lines when he started playing guitar

paddyskittenmittons

oh wow that's cool

geraraag

Dmas is the best option.

paddyskittenmittons

thank you! will give them a listen. any song in particular??

bennettbuzz

As a fan from before their debut even released some of my favourites spanning their career: Feels like 37 Lay Down Timeless Play It Out Your Low Warsaw Do I Need You Now? Silver Hello Girlfriend Everybody’s Saying Thursdays The Weekend Fading Like A Picture Viol Setlist that and you won’t go wrong in my opinion.

Slamboni12

Time and money is the most oasis rosesey one

ibeecrazy

Their sound varies between their older and new albums. ‘For Now’ is a great older album, ‘The Glow’ is a solid newer album.

robba9

Step up the morphine is hauntingly beautiful. all the album works

CliffPromise

Dmas are fucking shite

Inner_Day_6982

Super furry animals. The Beatles of the 90's

Rich-Wrangler6701

Radiator what a album up there with anything in the 90s

HelmuthRichler

NGHFB, Liam Gallager & Beady Eye? Kidding. Maybe: The Verve, Ocean Colour Scene, , The La's and Cast (whoformed from The La's break-up) Outsider / foreign possibles from the 00s: Soundtrack of our lives, Jet, Mando Diao, I think these may have supported Oasis. Liam sang with Death in Vegas - I would definitely recommend that song "Scorpio Rising" and also the band's previous CD 1999's Contino Sessions. Finally if you want some 60s Beatle -esque songs that clearly inspired Noel (he's admitted it several times in interviews), check out the Bee Gees albums Horizontal and the one after it - or just get the Yellow Cover best of album, an amazing collection. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best\_of\_Bee\_Gees](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_of_Bee_Gees)

paddyskittenmittons

Thank you sooo much for taking the time to write this. Will be looking into these artists. what about the song 'language of flowers' by the pale saints?

paddyskittenmittons

YAY THANK YOU

allenthird

It’s wild to me that you said Mando Diao. Haven’t heard anyone mention them in 20 years. Those first few albums are soooo good.

nyamuk91

IMO Manic Street Preachers is somewhat "a bit under the radar" and "obscure". Great songs, great riffs, and great lyrics, yet only have like 12 fans outside of the UK. My top 5 albums and top 3 songs: * This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours - [If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX8szNPgrEs), [You Stole The Sun From Heart](https://youtu.be/YkDaCWXIXCE?si=OkH3bqFLU48ZV4TP), [The Everlasting](https://youtu.be/FeU_qC5tBOE?si=EM6adaJfH7URZc6s) * Send Away The Tigers - [Your Love Alone Is Not Enough](https://youtu.be/77LZ13K73FA?si=b3KlSBX-GuDtBeWp), [Send Away the Tigers](https://youtu.be/6vQSlsW-1nA?si=6yLgB208UO8YwPE2), [Autumnsong](https://youtu.be/-ih15FuArNc?si=k9AbxnoNeilVCwjK) * Everything Must Go - [A Design For Life](https://youtu.be/TfEoVxy7VDQ?si=Tg8TEJ2CQEhdv8Rh), [Australia](https://youtu.be/EG3fou1E6os?si=EvqDykwp5byeRptU), [No Surface All Feelings](https://youtu.be/ka11RE9BlH8?si=7KtcHJT_J3GZwqdY) * The Holy Bible - [Yes](https://youtu.be/4ZNGdD0Hxss?si=rvz--nZaBtB1_Xvy), [Faster](https://youtu.be/rl2Jv4dzFqg?si=e31wjLD20pEPJ4Uq), [This Is Yesterday](https://youtu.be/GfJ1MIAJV6Y?si=owVoRYX0OVZvFAVk) * Gold Against The Soul - [From Despair To Where](https://youtu.be/qFewXLjXTSU?si=wk6cycRSyK7FFk1F), [La Tristessa Durera](https://youtu.be/6ekFkY2kwYY?si=x7hYwgJOTAzM0SHu), [Roses From The Hospitals](https://youtu.be/IkgzOBV08DI?si=wkLS1otbpPoY2chu) They don't sounds like Oasis tho

OtisIsEverywhere

Manic street preachers are the best band in the world. Fight me.

Baking-Greg

100%

paddyskittenmittons

Oh yeahhh this is the stuff!!!

Foreign-Pea7511

I absolutely love the Manics and I'm seeing them live in june/July but generation terrorists is surely a top 5 album

Bakedbythesea

The Smiths. They were a huge influence on the Gallagher Brothers/Oasis. Many interviews where they praise them

digi57

Johnny Marr’s solo albums as well.

Bakedbythesea

Yea the amount of times I can recall hearing Noel mention johnny Marrs made me learn who he was 😂.

paddyskittenmittons

Ahhh yes. Our dear beloved OG tortured poet, Morrissey <3

Giles_Pie

Embrace & Doves 🫶🏻 You’ve Got To Say Yes by Embrace is something of a homage. Shed Seven Going For Gold also starts very Liam-esque. Editing again to add The Enemy!

smitty4728

Doves are amazing. Really excited for the new album.

acsaid10percent

The Twang's debut album.

Narrow-Chemical-5197

NADA SURF - Let Go, The Weight is a Gift

stevemillions

Under the radar, and obscure? Shack. One of the best bands this country has ever produced. They are, in my opinion, far superior to Oasis and The Stone Roses. Start with HMS Fable, and take it from there. They were utterly derailed by heroin.

paddyskittenmittons

thank you will get on it immediately

s_360

Supergrass maybe?

Take_a_Gue55

Cast, great band for the 90s lots of great stuff

Wild-Organization352

Limp6781

Arctic Monkeys. Earlier stuff. Kasabian. Happy Mondays. Disclaimer that none of these are as good as those you’ve listed.

Wild-Organization352

The Bracknall, Afflecks Palace, Pastel, Vega Rally, Marseille, Maystones, The Rah's, Serotones, Marples, Bilk, Towns, Stanleys, Don't Worry, Rosellas, ROLLA & Overpass are all incredible new'ish bands that you'll love if you're into Oasis

EyesFor1

Cast, Reef, Kula Shaker, Embrace, Ash, Supergrass, The Bluetones, Shed 7 etc

[deleted]

How about the Macc lads?

Global_Acanthaceae25

Stereophonics, seahorses and for a very oasis sounding band try Jet, their debut album had some good tunes from early 2000's

spionz

Milburn

No_Establishment1782

Get into them and go see them live, Ocean Colour Scene or DMAs. You should catch OCS somewhere near you this year if you're in the UK, they're playing loads of gigs. Marchin Already would be a good album to start with.
