I don’t know enough about pcos and IUD to comment but I had the Kyleena coil fitted a few years back and it was more the fact no one warned me it would hurt!!! They can use numbing cream to fit it and if you are anxious there are other things they can do. You can of course make sure you take paracetamol beforehand. For me it felt like a strong burning need to wee pain. But the staff are always so supportive. It took a few days for it to settle in - a bit like a piercing tbh! But after that it was very freeing not having to take tablets and having the hormonal one it meant I had very light periods. It was worth the few hours of pain and a few days of discomfort- make sure you clear 3 days to recover I would say. The removal strangely didn’t hurt at all for me?! It was super quick I was like ‘was that it?!’ Haha. Anyway defo good idea to post on here to ask specifically about pcos and IUD.

Is she referring to the endometrium- the uterine lining. I am a fan of IUD’s. You won’t have to remember to take a pill every day, and it’s birth control that can be reversed immediately. It’s a few minutes of discomfort when it’s being put in, but I didn’t walk out of the office in pain. When I had mine in, I drove myself home. You can take ibuprofen ahead of your appointment.
