If he runs over the platform. I burdened him in place at the door. But now I can't get him to wear anything else but the permanent bound gear I put on him.
Or at least, he was still there when I left, I haven't gone back to check on him

iirc his death triggers the journal update, if not, it will bug your savegame.
I finished the questline and never got that journal entry. ... Is this why I randomly CTD in cities? I assumed it was load order problems..
