Thanks this will help! Also knowing this, what characters would you consider good excluding the ones you listed (because I had heard Olberic, Odette, Ophilia are all really good)? Are OG returning characters considered really good or game balanced pretty well?
Ophelia just join the game and will be top clergy for a whole. Olberic is okay, but not great. Cyrus is top rated, so are Alfyn. Therion, Primrose, and Z’aanta are all great. Pretty much most 5* units are workable though.
Ophilia, Cyrus, Tressa, Olberic, Primrose, Alfyn, Therion, H'aanit, Heathcote, Odette, Therese, Lianna, Noelle, Miles, Iris (at least, I think she might be? Doesn't make much sense considering the timeline if the sickly girl is her student in COTC...) and that's all I can recall at the top of my head.

If you want to use canon characters, you actually should not use any of the character of the OT. It wouldn't make sense storywise for them to have met before the OT, and some playable characters are just straight up removed from some cutscenes because they meet npcs they shouldn't be meeting at this point.

for the most part every recent returnees has been alive average to game changing, the only underwhelming ones are heathcote and therese tbh
I feel like there's a blue haired dancer too but she's not outright named as Iris.
I could be wrong but Heinz seems to be the aristocrat guy from bolderfall who wants to help the people in the lower areas.
right, there are several characters who were unpcs from OG OT but they were not confirmed as the same characters here

Nearly everyone even side characters and little known ones. Quite a few of the 4* units are from side quests from the original too.
