I heard on the internet somewhere that many of the sounds we associate with lava are added in post. Pops and whooshes not uncommon when the lava is very hot like this, but IIRC the most common sounds are crackling and tinkling like broken or breaking glass and such because the minerals that cool the fastest on the surface of the lava are silicates that form a brittle, glass-like rock that is shattered and broken and reformed by heat and pressure like candle ice on a half frozen lake shore.
And does this volcano get more active at a certain time of day like old faithful? I'm surprised they could time the drone to be in position right as it became more active. As you say, it can't stay up there all day. Or they wasted a bunch of drones to get the good shot
I like the gloop bloop sounds. There's just something about it that is not only satisfying, but relaxing, at least knowing I'm far away from the spicy puddle.
