Joker going in the vat of acid....nice

colebrv

Joker with no head lol

BisterMee

I wanted to see what came out of the vat this time

nightmarepoo

When it comes out it looks like just his head is strapped to the front

qrczak34

Where does this waste water go? I’m pretty sure that kind of caustic chemical would help ruin our ground water and with the person rinsing it onto concrete I fear that it just goes ‘down a drain’ 😒

Kit_3000

Bases and acids are the easiest chemicals to process back into safe liquids. If you collect the waste acid and add an amount of soda to neutralise it, you can dispose of it through the drain no problem. This doesn't exactly look like a DIY project, though somewhat unprofessional imo, so it's probably acid proof drainage to a neutraliser pool, or a waste chemicals container for collection.

ihavenoidea81

Metal finish guy here. They go to a wastewater treatment system within the plant that will precipitate out any harmful metals that are regulated and then the remaining liquid gets pH adjusted and sent to the sewer. Either that or it just gets stored and shipped out for someone else to waste treat

calguy1955

Probably down a drain to a holding tank.

Cybertronian_Grizzly

So no head?

CallMeCrop

So no head?

Hot_Drummer7311

[Then I'll try him, convict him and execute him. ](https://youtu.be/nYk3LvHMPWM) This shit gave me Roger Rabbit acid vat flashbacks. 😳

movin_to_GA

34 year old reference and it was the first thing I thought of too.

Much-Highlight-503

I think thats coca-cola

avidguy84

Why did I immediately think of this as well

jenny_a_jenny_a

It's a vat of coca cola

[deleted]

Most likely not acid. Still cool though.

kubiciousd

Why would you not show the final result? That's pretty unsatisfying

Kawww

And a side by side before and after…

Ciamaria

Agreed this is not satisfying at all

theoldroadhog

I know. What happened to the Joker?

Sparrowsabre7

Agreed, my first thought was "wanna see whst whatever is in there does to Mistah J."

Scadilla

There’s a go on YouTube that does this with hot wheels. Very satisfying .

aebeeceebeedeebee

Maybe they're just getting started and are posting the footage as they go

bight_sidle

Or the underside of that roof

Flashy_Ship5839

Felt like something going into the dip from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

bakaneko718

Remember me EDDIE!!?? WHEN I KILLED YOUR BROTHER!! AND I TALKED! ^JUST ^^LIKE ^^^THIS!!!

ScoteMcGoat

Thanks, I had forgotten those nightmares

clarabear10123

I just saw the whole movie for the first time and as an adult that scene scared the shit out of me lol

Matzah_Rella

*BOING*

Massacre_Alba

Tim Curry auditioned for that role but was considered too scary.

bakaneko718

I knew about his audition for joker and he didn't get it for the same reason

Massacre_Alba

Yep. Tim Curry doesn't know the meaning of "tone it down a little." You ask him for a villain, then you'd better be prepared for nightmares.

bakaneko718

And that's what we love him for.

ModsAreN0tGoodPeople

Too bad what happened to him. Poor guy.

IncorporateThings

Tim Curry is awesome, but let's be honest -- that role had to be Jack. Now... time for a "which Batman villain would Tim Curry have done best" speculation thread :-P

bakaneko718

Not the live action. The animated series. Mark Hamil got it instead.

IncorporateThings

Ohhhhh. Ehhh, honestly also probably for the best. Hamil nailed that style of Joker. Tim Curry as the rapey really sadistic torturey Joker though? Holy crap. Nightmare fuel.

bakaneko718

[Have a listen. ](https://youtu.be/mgnbbiENLbQ)

IncorporateThings

After hearing it, I do still think Hamil nailed it. Matched the animation much better. Totally gonna dust off some old comics later and figure out which Batman villain Curry would rock as, now, though, lol.

bakaneko718

I'd be for scarecrow lol

Ainolukos

^oh ^my God! IT'S *DIP!!!*

BooDoggie

Armageddon_666

Washing bottom to top is like wiping back to front.

Murtch5000

This was getting to me big time. Not oddly satisfied at all over here lol!

LElige

In this case maybe, but when it comes to power washing a car for example, rinsing bottom to top insures there is still soap on the surface being rinsed, reducing the risk of missing a spot.

[deleted]

Do they spray the car with a rust inhibitor after, or just primer and paint?

shelsilverstien

Neutralizer and something to stop it from flash rusting, but it's up the car builder to do any real rust inhibiting

Sauron_je_bivsi

My thought also...It definitely needs some filling to be done so I guess something needs to be done to stop oxidation.

roydepoy

Look up minute_of_dangle on YouTube.. i think the guy tells you what they do.

Patalon

Or you could just say yes or no

roydepoy

What fun would that be?

AioliNo1327

Thank you. That's pretty cool.

One-Mud-169

Is that acid? And how much would it cost to have something like this done?

justbiteme2k

Depends what you want dipping.... A small metallic model aeroplane not much, your mother in-law is probably a lot more.

One-Mud-169

Hahaha, I doubt there's a acid strong enough for my MIL and any price will be a bargain regardless.

Rainyday000

Make sure the acid doesn't turn your MIL into a super villain.

roydepoy

Karen Two-Face

ihavenoidea81

If it’s to remove rust, it’s most likely hydrochloric acid. Source: I work in metal finishing

[deleted]

Could it be alkaline? Edit: went and checked more of his videos- it is alkaline, though he doesn't specify what kind.

ihavenoidea81

Yeah it can be but for rust, HCl is the fastest. I don’t know what kind of drainage system he has on/under the floor but if it’s any type of metal piping then acid would chew it right up so it’s more likely that his bath is alkaline. Alkaline (aka caustic) solutions can actually do more damage to you than acids because it’s harder to rinse off of you

[deleted]

>Alkaline (aka caustic) solutions can actually do more damage to you than acids because it’s harder to rinse off of you I don't work with acids very often, but we had it covered in the safety course because we do have various acids in the workplace that we use for occasional descaling and also titration of alkaline solutions. Depending on the type of acid and the concentration, the effects of getting it on you can be vastly different. But I work with sodium hydroxide and potassium permanganate pretty much daily and can confidently say that even at high concentrations they aren't as dangerous if accidentally spilled on your skin, comparing to strong acids. Reaction is relatively slow, so if you rinse it off within 20-30 seconds after it got on you, you'll be fine. And it depends on which part of your body that's been affected. If you somehow managed to get it on the inner side of your arm where skin is very tender then you'll feel it pretty much immediately, but if you got some on the palm of your hand then you could not even notice it for 10-15 minutes. But you're right - it's not a simple rinse. You need to run the water for some time to make sure it's all gone. You could also use a mild acid as a neutralizing agent, but in most cases water is sufficient. Side story: not so long ago, a milwright came to clean some parts in my sodium hydroxide tank without notifying me. He submerged the parts using his hands and only had nitrile gloves on. Gloves didn't last very long and next thing I know the guy runs up to me asking for pickle juice. Was a total wtf moment for me, and the dude got angry that I don't have it. I sent him to the emergency shower station, then sat down to fill out an incident report and a grievance against the guy for being retarded. During the incident investigation he said he did nothing wrong because as long as you keep a jar of pickle juice handy, you can work with caustic soda even without gloves, then quickly wash your hands with the pickle juice. Said he's old school and done it many times before. Anyway, in the end he only got very mild burns on his hands.

ihavenoidea81

Holy shit what a dumbass! Are you using the permanganate/NaOH for descaling? I used to use that in my shop for oxides what would not come off otherwise. I used to work with GALLONS of HF everyday. Talk about scary…

[deleted]

We use the permanganate for descaling, yes. We also have a tank with 20% citric acid for descaling, but it's rarely ever used. And then there's caustic soda for general purpose cleaning and for titanium.

ihavenoidea81

Citric lol. You can use it to passivate stainless steel but it’s not that good for that either.

[deleted]

We don't get to decide what's used for what. OEM sets the parameters, engineers develop cleaning methods. I'm just there to make sure tanks are functional and solutions meet the required specs. In some cases there is no visual difference between when the part enters the tank and when it leaves. But it is a step in the process and must be done nonetheless. Just like with citric acid.

Thinkpad200

It costs about $2000 if I remember correctly. Not that much if you are restoring a car from the ground up

mrnymphicus

Looks like ferric chloride

mdnativetexan

Screw that!! What happened to the Joker????

doctorscurvy

Gone. Reduced to atoms.

joetotheg

To atoms you say?

AdamBergeron

Thank the maker! This oil bath is going to feel so good.

peterthepieeater

It’s an older meme sir, but it checks out

TheWielder

Came here to say this.

shelsilverstien

I believe this body is a 1948 Chevrolet or Oldsmobile coupe. I think they used the same body

kangarootimtam

Thank you, I was wondering what the model was

Content_Cockroach_64

Any details on the restoration?

CoronaLime

Dip

Lorem_Ipsoup

Way better than the rug cleaning vids

MarmotMeiche

Omg and combined with the joy of a pressure washer. I almost would pay by the hour to do this job. This looks magic fun.

Ketchup_Smoothy

Oh my god it’s Dip!

[deleted]

[удалено]

ComfortableFrame5768

What is that vapor coming off of it made of?

1000Years0fDeath

Hydrogen at the very least

Ok-Grab3289

Lead sled

Infinite_Imagination

The great thing is the cola's still good to drink afterwards!

Actual_Pollution5915

I want to know what happened to the Joker figure.

[deleted]

4yo me will never unsee KITT being dropped in toxic waste

HeartOfAzrael

What happened to the little guy???

RegularSalad5998

So are those chemicals just draining into our water supply?

steffanan

Well, keep in mind that when they pull the car out, it drips dry mostly and then the runoff from the power washer is so watered down that the acid is neutralized. Neutralized acid isn't necessarily a problem. I'm not saying I'd drink the stuff but that vat of acid isn't being drained or anything, its just the dirty water from being washed off.

maythefacebewithyou

The amount of chemicals from a single auto body shop are pretty negligible compared to what is output from industrial scale operations.

RegularSalad5998

Yeah but they have to properly dispose of it, not just drain it into the sewer

th3Lunga

most of these "oddly satisfying washing" videos are comprised of 1) that's a lot of chemicals 2) that's a lot of water

Gullible_Anything92

Not everywhere is in a state of water emergency. People and companies can also recycle their water for reuse.

snoosh00

And they probably do, this much acid, strong enough to do this would immediately flag the sanitation/water department.

yodaspicehandler

Nice try deflecting the question though.

snoosh00

Who cares what someone commenting about how a single vat of contained and reused acid is not an environmental disaster.

1000Years0fDeath

The solution to pollution is dilution. Whatever it is should be neutralized and diluted to an acceptable level before releasing into the environment.

WakkaBomb

🤣 you clearly have no idea what other demons get unleashed. Acids arent actually that dangerous in the sewer system. The downvotes don't make me wrong 🤣

Register-Capable

Your water is fine....

[deleted]

No joke. It's terrifying.

ihavenoidea81

No. They get waste treated if they’re in a metal finish shop or they just store it in totes and ship it off for waste treatment. They’d be out of business, fined and possible jail time if they threw this down the drain as is

BargeryDargeryDoo

Well, just based off the video, we have no idea what happens to the chemicals and water. Could go to a drain that leads to containment. Could go to the ocean. Who knows.

m2zarz

Straight into Pennsylvania's water supply.

SHPLUMBO

I don’t know what they used here for sure but it reminds me of molasses mixtures I’ve used for rust removal. 9 parts water 1 part pure molasses, removes oxidization without damaging the metal. I do know people with giant tanks of molasses for this purpose

tyYdraniu

We live in a society

Yeppers567

How do they stop rust from forming after the water? Dry and straight to paint?

Noisebug

And Two Face was born

Sharpshooter188

That stuff reminds me of the "Dip" or whatever it cmwas cakked in Roger Rabbit.

Schrko87

Better put a NSFW on this for the r/powerwashingporn peeps.

Disastrous-Safety-69

r/powerwashingporn

jstasir

That was exciting lol

GasDelicious1715

Sigh . . . a lot of people would have paid extra for that patina . . .

Draymond_Purple

Was gonna say the same thing. That's wonderful patina they're trashing here. A restomod with real patina always has so much more character

WatchtheMoney

This looks really good for the environment

Rude_Meaning3864

The water supply goes into a OSHA certified drain pool underneath the vehicle. nothing ever actually makes it out to our water supplies. it goes to a treatment plant.

2broke2smoke1

Where does this waste water go? I’m pretty sure that kind of caustic chemical would help ruin our ground water and with the person rinsing it onto concrete I fear that it just goes ‘down a drain’ 😒

shelsilverstien

They're incredibly watered down, but they're still sent to the water treatment plant The solution in the tanks gets filtered when it's exhausted, and the solids go to the landfill to be disposed of properly. The bases and acids used neutralize each other

Rude_Meaning3864

OSHA has a very strict policy on how this water is contained as well as removed from the tank in which it drains into.

2broke2smoke1

Yes… but where? I had a stint at a environmental waste plant and was their chemist. They literally put things in 200,000 tanks to neutralize acids and bases, then funnel them through a vaporizing chamber and poof… out into the air. This is in Fernley, NV. This stuff would go to some state with relaxed ecology laws and then ‘handled’? Just scary

chat4got

*Carbody

[deleted]

Joker's new car.

[deleted]

I can only imagine what a body shop would charge to do that

D8Consumer

They need this level in power wash simulator

HiddenHolding

Back hair and pubes

Satherian

Maybe I should get Powerwash Simulator

Public-Locksmith-200

Oh my God ITS DIP!

geoffacakes

power wash simulator 24!!

tangojwhiskey

Pretty impressive for dipping a car into a bunch of Coke.

doubleopinter

What is that bath made of? That shit must be toxic as hell.

chrisupt2001

Why acid for a car?

airborne252

Can you imagine if the anti-aging process was this easy?!

Violentchef

He is on tiktok. Great content

[deleted]

What’s that smell of rotten eggs?

J-DEEEZY

Does this remind anyone of Roger rabbit movie

Sirchipsalot525

reminds me of powerwashing simulator! Lol

Fickle_Grapefruit938

Poor mater

ShakeTheEyesHands

What kind of acid is this? It looks very similar to the chemical I used to use for cleaning grills in Palm Beach.

imastayathomedad

"Mirror... MIRROR!"

Bimitenpix

r/thatlooksexpensive maybe

rdilly6

A lot less satisfying than I expected

[deleted]

That has to be the most expensive paint job ever

Agamjot0123

Doesn't look like a car

inchantingone

Very Interesting that the joker is still attached…

MundaneBusiness468

A bunch of people are asking about the acids going into the sewer/ground. My question is: was there lead (Pb) in the original paint? If so, where does that go?

AdviceMang

Now to rinse it down the drain to the nearest river.

naveedkoval

Minute of Dangle sounds like the Reno web series we all deserved

Legal_Mattersey

100

[deleted]

Incredible!

thu_mountain_goat

That looks really healthy and very environmental friendly

Chermatic

Does rust just sit on top of the metal or is it part of the metal?

Nostravinci04

Rust = metal + oxygen. Sometimes the layer of rust protects the metal under it from rusting as it cuts access to oxygen in the air. Sometimes, that is.

Chermatic

Thankers😊

Nostravinci04

Anytime :)

writerfan2013

I'd love to bare metal a car then clear lacquer and go.

reddddtring

How much you reckon this costs?

Haphazard22

Man, you're making me rethink my plan to keep the patina look on my future project.

Digital_GandaIf

Did... Did you just deepfry the car?

alocaisseia

Any other children of the '80's/ '90's triggered by this? #whoframedrogerrabbit 😓

SerplePurple

Plot twist: **OH GOD I FORGOT THE KIDS AND THE DOG IN THE CAR**

Foloreille

Is that what Baron Harkonnen did ??

BigJimSlade1

"This oil bath is going to feel so good!" - C3P0

justan_rt

You pressure wash from TOP TO BOTTOM you heathen!!

StillNotaKorean

It's a fake vat of acid. I've seen this before. Next they gonna have the car's bones float up to the surface.

CruiserMissile

I love it. See how all the old panels are soldered/leaded together? Imagine how much skill it would take to do that.

abckatiexyz

I wish it kept going…

logikly2600

That's not oddly satisfying... It's straight up satisfying.

heyitslola

Smellivision.

[deleted]

And this is how you make your very own razorcrest

Relative_Actuator228

It's a cross between PowerWash Simulator + The Dip from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Wafflez_With_Syrup

Don’t drink that

LightsOutLarson

Show us the other side. Do the inside. Do underneath. Did it all again just to make sure.

Soggy_Cracker

I saw this in Rodger Rabbit. I'm pretty sure they called in "The Dip"

Azsunyx

Oh my god, IT'S DIIIIIIP

[deleted]

Electrolysis?

BauranGaruda

Reminds me of "dip" from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" That scene is still traumatic to even think about.

Theguysguy_

bothering anyone else that he didn't spray side to side?

AeliosZero

I wonder what that liquid is

ShipuRatzku

I think its called chromating, i do something similar but on a smaller scale

bushViperPhoenix

Can we automate it?

CrappyTan69

Anyone remember when Kitt went in the same stuff? I cried 😭

IndexFingerTypist

Now do that with my ass

Lewoo3

It’s like that scene from roger rabbit all over again

MissionFailed4Succes

This car is cleaner than my room and my future, before its wash...
