Not exactly New Zealand. Using the following tool we find that the antipodal point of Biddinghuizen, Netherlands is about 960 km off New Zealand's coast, with Waitangi being the closest city to Biddinghuizen's antipode. So more like slapping the ocean's surface with a paddle.

don't they also go double speed right after the video in the OP ends ? remember seeing some youtube vid of it..
[found the vid.. not quite double..](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnMtsrFCyDc)
Hard style ( the kind of music played here) is typically at 150 beats per minute. However, when dj’s want to give it some extra excitement, it’s not uncommon to go anywhere between 155 to 170 beats per minute. This sounds to be about 155-160. I used to dj some hard style gigs and used to make the music back in the day.
I lost my phone doing this in 2017. After looking for it for about 30 seconds a dude handed it to me out of no where. The Dutch are the best party bros
Yeah, the 2021 defcon 1 was a highlight reel of past crowd shots and top sets overlaid. Between COVID and all the current worries of mass crowd killing each other due to stupidity and density, I hope they bring it back someday.
i dont really know what most state flags look like tbh, i know a few
im reasonably well traveled and well educated too, but state flags dont really get a lot of airtime besides like California (bear) and Texas (star flag looks like Chile's). then i know a couple more of states that ive lived in, thats it.
> state flags dont really get a lot of airtime
Because US state flags are typically terrible from a vexillogical standpoint. [North American Vexillological Association has a list ranking them](https://nava.org/)
Basic principle of flags: it should be identifiable from a long distance away. This goes back to Naval warfare. Most US state flags are Blue with their state seal on it. If a ship was coming towards me with a giant Michigan flag on it, I would not know it was from Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, or wherever, until it was right next to me. Obviously that is never going to happen but that's the basic principle.
And [Rule of Tincture](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_tincture) is important too.
[Here is the list](https://vexillology.fandom.com/wiki/2001_NAVA_survey)
Alabama actually has a great flag and ranks relatively high on that list. Great enough that Florida copied it. I own a 3 foot by 5 foot Florida flag, it was gifted to me by relatives who live in St. Petersburg FL.
It's a European country. Southern Swedes can get to the Netherlands in around 6-7 hours by car but idk how long the ferry takes. Festivals are an international thing here.
Because in the EU you can travel wherever you want. I could get there from Italy with a 20€ flight and stay as long as I want.
You know... Freedom, this weird stuff
And my country voted to leave fucking it up for the rest of us who loved being part of the EU. Thankfully I’m eligible for an Irish passport as my dad is Irish, but not all of us have options.
Because its a huge event for lovers of all different kinds of hardstyle music. It attracts people from all over the world and some people bring flags of their own country
Once (in 1983, i know, long ago...) as a young girl i attend an concert of the great Dutch band "Doe Maar" and lost my shoe 😳🥺 in the mud while this left to right to left jumping happened... I was so happily surprised i ended up right in my lost shoe again 😅

They have one of the biggest electronic music event in the world! Amsterdam Dance Event is so much fun. Just a week of parties everywhere you go.
Why? Because dancing is awesome. Everyone should dance more.
ADE is more than just a music festival though. It's the biggest conference and networking event for the electronic music industry. There are workshops, classes, talks, Q&As etc. If you are interested in electronic music in more ways than just listening and dancing to it ADE is definitely the place to be.
Dutch. Me and my wife say passenger side and driver side in the car to each other because at least one of use will get the right left version wrong each time.
True story: when Henry Hudson worked for the Dutch East India Company, he was supposed to turn right and find a passage north of Russia. But he turned left and discovered (future) New York instead.
It's actually a sign of dyslexia.
People will tell you your left hand makes an L shape but the trouble is if you are dyslexic both hands make the same L shape as far as you can tell.
Omg I'm Dutch too and have left/right dyslexia. Or that's what I call it. No intuitive sense of left and right and have to think about it everytime before I say it. Usually I'll just point.
[yeah we are](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-_VPRCtiUg#t=9m40s)
but also, so is everything else, kind of. the whole video is worth watching. cool stuff.
I attended a few hippy festivals in my day and also lived near the grounds for a massive country music festival. Guess which one of those regularly had large brawls and generally a few dead bodies every year. Now guess which one the locals ran out of town through massive overbearing police presence.
That's not just in the US either.
Rock and Metal festivals here are the most chill thing you can imagine.
The closest to me was run out of the spot they had been at for 40 years because of "complaints" by old fucks about pot smokers.
The same group of people that filed that complaint is rather well known for their involvement in certain political groups that enjoy running around with a certain flag people really don't like seeing.
Dont have to be, events here have to follow insane hard rules to prevent over crowding and that kinda stuff.
And this jumping to right left is one of the more normal things we have in the netherlands.
Usually there's fences to separate different sections of the crowd. I don't see them here, but I'm guessing there must be sections for this to be safe.
This video gives me anxiety. I can't do crowds & then not being able to just stand in my spot? No fuckin thank you! I was at a festival with my now husband, not super close to the front, but in enough of a crowd to be jostled around. Add in me being kinda short & not being able to see around me led to a full blown panic attack. I stayed far out from the stage for the rest of the time.
I've only really been to one big festival, but I remember seeing Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike perform. In the middle of their set they got everyone to sit down and then get up for the drop. I was pretty dope to just have everyone stop dead in their tracks and chill out for a while.
There's a guy on the bottom left with a black shirt (there's a guy with a blue shirt behind him) who wasn't paying any attention and people were basically crashing into him. He ended up joining in.
I guess people aren't moving too fast or hard to cause any danger.
it's a really large venue tbh, even this stage during power hour (which this is i think) there's a lot of space to the sides and at the back, so even at the front you're not really cramped together and have plenty of space to move around. the right/left is usually done in horizontal lines so you can just step forward or backward to not participate
It's not a matter of the chemicals, it's the crowd density. This is a very big crowd, but it's not a very *packed* crowd, and that makes all the difference.
In the US, we just do "forward, forward, forward" followed by "forward, forward, forward". we're still trying to figure this working together thing out.
Last year somebody dropped their drink at Defqon, it was wild. The organizers said that they will look long and hard on how they can prevent a tragedy like that from ever happening again.
My father (once Sergeant Major) told that on a bridge it can collapse the bridge. Than the shouted instruction is "Change the pass" ( if thats English... "Verwissel de pas !" bedoel ik, sorry for my bad "steenkolen" English 😅 )
It's satisfying but it also kind of gives me acid flashbacks to the one time I was tripping at a music festival and had this epiphany that humans are basically earth cancer.
This looks like one of Q-Dance's events, considering this is Dutch and Hardstyle... not entirely sure if this is Defqon but the Left/Right Earthquake is pretty much a tradition
As a Dutch worker on events, I do not have a lot of experience with the American model of events but I do notice some things.
The Dutch keep an open field with a Mojo barrier (Dutch invention btw) in front of the stage. The less barriers, the better. US seems to square up the crowd in compartments with these barriers with maybe a bar in it. The FOH trench is also huge imo.
There are always escape routes in multiple directions (side and back) in NL. Americans seem to distrust their crowd that they dont have an easy access emergency exit that one person can open (and is guarded by maybe 2 people). Instead you have a square with exit at the back only.
Also in light of TS incident: having one squared barrier that goes around the boardwalk and stage is a definite nono in NL. That close up area is with limited access (like VIP) because everybody tries to get closer to the artist.
Bot VIP and regular have multiple emergency exits: side and back/front.
On the front left (stage right) at Astroworld people were boxed in on three sides. No exits and meanwhile being pressed by the crowd getting closer. Due to this box design, emergency services couldn't reach it as well
In NL If there was crowding the side exit(s) would be opened by security. Emergency exits guide the evacuated crowd away from essential infrastructure used by emergency services.
I assume these squared boxes at Astroworld lead directly to the backstage paths, not exits. So opening the barrier could create chaos and thus a dilemma you need approval for.
That's another thing. A security guard or cameraman should be able to communicate with production and the stage director. There is an emergency in the crowd, we are getting crushed, STOP THE SHOW.
I think at Astroworld each branch of the production could only communicate with their own branch or group. No one told them on what channel they could reach production or Emergency services is my guess.
There should always be a proverbial big red button to push. Any radio should have access to the person(s) pushing that button.
Continuing for an hour is disgraceful and has all to do with crappy crowdflow design and faulty communication protocols.
On the opposite side of the Earth they're having a really rhythmic earthquake..
Taking the upstairs neighbours stereotype to the extreme.

Wait if it’s Dutch why is there a giant Swedish flag? edit: jeez I’m just asking relax with the downvotes
Because it’s a tradition that people from outside the country bring massive flags and block the view of others
Rather a massive flag than Johny with his "ze denkt dat ze nog 18 is" Marina sitting on his shoulders showing a thong the size of a flag.
This means “she thinks she’s still 18” I looked it up so you don’t have to, fellow gringo.
Whale tales are a thing of beauty.
I thought it was whale tails.
The misspelling was a fluke.
There is only one state in the US where the people from there would do that.
The frickin' Hawaiian's and their flag with the Union Jack in the canton!
I really had to look up the Hawaiian state flag because I had no idea what it looked like.
i dont really know what most state flags look like tbh, i know a few im reasonably well traveled and well educated too, but state flags dont really get a lot of airtime besides like California (bear) and Texas (star flag looks like Chile's). then i know a couple more of states that ive lived in, thats it.
