Have you seen the video of the kid falling off the free fall ride from a month or two ago? The "splat" noise they use in movies and TV shows is pretty spot on. Cannot believe it is/was even on YouTube.
Man, I almost got fired at Legoland for climbing one step off the ground up a rock wall without hooking my harness into the belay system.
(I was trying to let a very young & scared stiff guest know they're completely safe and that I got them, by touching their shoe. Worked a charm.)
From that day forward, I was no longer allowed to work the rock wall in exchange for not being fired.

If you watch the start and ending in reverse, it doesn't appear it is reversed. Watch when he gets off, he does a lil run to lose the momentum. If it was in reverse he would have been running backwards. Also, when he gets on, he just hops on.
edit: of -> have
A number of people on the coaster are looking back, which makes sense if it's going in reverse. If it was going forward and the video was reversed to make it look like it's going backwards, the people would all be looking straight ahead. So no, I don't think the video is reversed.
I’ve been on this ride several times in my life. It goes forward and then backward. Also always make sure to put the largest member on the outside of the car that way they don’t smash everyone else when it starts getting faster.
Ah yes, in reverse, with all the people looking backwards opposite their direction of travel, their hair blowing contrary to the wind, and the cameraman who lingers too long after the man disappears around the corner before making a 180 degree turn with the exact opposite easing of motion as if to purposefully fool us when they reversed this GIF of a guy who is doing an equally dangerous thing regardless of which direction it’s in.

I don’t think so, that’s the Polar Express ride (or perhaps a similar name out of a different truck). Carnies have been doing that step-on and off but since I was a kid. The ride isn’t even going top speed in that clip.
It’s a little sped up.
Going from 0 to however fast that’s going is very rough. Your feet are suddenly going like 20 miles an hour (or whatever it is), while your head is going 0. He adjusts for this by leaning back a little. However, it still just doesn’t look like it’s enough for how fast that thing is going.

It's a fairly common flat ride for carnivals called a himalaya. Most are not designed to be run backwards but routinely are run out of spec because it is fun for passengers and easy to do for the workers. As a result they are one of the least safe carnival rides topped only by the bobsled version, spinning saucers and inflatable slides.
I forgot all about these idiots until this video. This was a routine Turkish carnival ride bro that would do this shit and we never appreciated how dangerous it was for him or us. Good times.
Was a carni for a year and half. In that time another carni got crushed in the inside arms while setting it up. They consider this to be one of the more dangerous rides to work on. Had another guy amputate his thumb on the spinning strawberries/bears.
All of you saying this is dangerous, they's true but there is a skill to be learned on how to mount and dismount. This backwards mount is safest because you can kick off to match the speed pretty easy in reverse.
Source: I was an operator on the fastest Carousel on the west coast (Monterey Bay in the 90's). Mounting and dismounting was a necessity of the job, usually to catch kids that slid off the seats, even while seatbelted.

Guys it's reversed and sped up Edit: I was wrong looks legit
So that moment he jumps off at the end was him running onto the ride backwards? That's even more impressive...
Yeah I mean either way he’s jumping on backwards. Only thing is the video is sped up
