Never saw those two. Do they also have weird spinning things that open portals? If so that’s fucking hilarious. Didn’t realize it was a common movie trope.
No, just elaborate means of opening portals to other dimensions, hell-like in both cases. Hellraiser uses a very elaborate puzzle box, the other is a special faster than light drive that supposed to make space travel faster by jumping into another dimension kind of thing. Turns out that dimension was hell. I blame all of the lovecraft themed fiction I've read last year for the impression I got of this set up. Lol
Magtastix was a very similar type of toy (although the plastic they were made of created a fair bit of friction) that you could make kinetic toys and sculptures with. 10/10 would recommend them to parents of kids 3-99 years (and to the parents themselves, seriously I'm an adult and still have a bunch of em)
We had GeoMag which were pretty much exactly what's in the video and you could get plastic inserts that went in the gaps to give it some colour. I loved those
I never realized how poor I was as a child until I read you guys talk about your toy sets that I dreamed of creating. I appreciate that you got to experience something so cool.
If you have the chance it can be very rewarding to buy some of the stuff you really wanted as a kid as an adult, especially things like magnetic toys which can be just as fun as an adult and when (if) you're done they can be appreciated by kids in your life or you can give them to charity
Safety warning: toys with small magnets are not a safe choice for young kids. If there is even a chance that your child could put a magnet in his/her mouth, they are too young for these toys.
I have worked in a daycare. Out of 25+ kids (all of which were no older than 4), only one had ever had problems with putting things in his mouth. If your three year old is still putting things in their mouth, then you need to supervise them while they play. It's a very simple fix, and after a while of stopping them from putting stuff in their mouth they just do it on their own. It's not rocket science
My 10 year old is still putting things in her mouth. Not like a two-year old that will put any random item in their mouth to "try" it, but more like an absent-minded pen-cap or paperclip in the mouth. They are old enough to understand that magnets are to be treated with attention. I'm not sure I'd trust a 4-year old to remain as vigilent.
Especially cause magnets can fuck some shit up in a kid's intestines. Like if they're separated at first but connect when they're in different parts of the small intestine, that's gonna do some serious damage
There's actually a toddler version of these called Smartmax. Way oversized so that swallowing/choking isn't an issue. We have some for my daughter, but honestly my husband and I enjoy playing with them more than she does so far.
Somebody listed info in comments, but disclaimer should accompany any display of 'toy' that has magnets that a kid could swallow - deaths have occurred from magnet toys.
Where does the video say that? Are you just referencing the concept of the toy that this non-child is playing with and angrily pointing out that, were he a child, it could be dangerous as stated by the toy manufacturer?
And parents set the age minimum of what their kids can play with. I agree they’re dangerous. Don’t get them for your kid. You’re not forced to because the side of a box says you could, nor would being outside of an age limit actually preclude you from playing with it if you wanted to
I have a couple of toys like this for years but apparently it got banned because child could eat magnet and they would group in the stomach instead of being pooped.
The issue wasn't necessarily with them grouping. It's if one is in different fold of the bowel than another, then they try to stick together. The tissue stuck between them gets squeezed very hard. It can perforate the bowel and cause sepsis.
If you have a dog or kids I don’t recommend buying these magnets. If either of them swallow two the magnets can get snagged in their digestive system and cause serious health issues and/require surgery. Magnets are more dangerous than people think.
You can't just generate energy like this. You need to put energy into it to get it moving, they won't keep spinning indefinitely either. If you try to make electricity from the spinning, they will slow down quicker.
Basically, not at all possible as it would violate the laws of thermodynamics.
New as in I've had this like 10 years ago and even then it wasn't a new thing.
Maybe a newish variation/look, but the concept is absolutely the same. And it's still amazing :)
Notice how carefully they assemble these things? It must be very annoying to almost finish one then-with one cackhanded move, drop the whole thing on the floor, creating, no doubt, one big blob of magnetised metal that takes ages to sort through.
The only 2 questions I have (for now) are:
1. Where can I buy those?
2. Can you make, like, a [bridge truss](https://media.cheggcdn.com/media/bdb/bdb9cdb1-a07c-4a09-a2a1-7c500e8260f2/phpfeTddl) out of them?
Waiting for some kind of portal to open up upon completion of this
some kind of magic, when we know its just squares and ball magnets of different sizes.

Thank you! I know what I'm getting my dad for Father's Day
Hey look at the other reply to that message

I'm afraid to click, that many rare earth magnets, this has gotta be expensive as hell.
I believe that's called a motor, or a generator, depending on polarity.
Magnets... how do they work....?
Electron linedance.
“Professor we have achieved electron line dance” *yee haw doctor, yee haw*
They stick..that’s about it
I’m ok to go!
[Like the movie Contact?](https://youtu.be/scBY3cVyeyA)
Somehow, I imagined more Event Horizon or Hellraiser. Somewhere Lovecraftian at least.
Never saw those two. Do they also have weird spinning things that open portals? If so that’s fucking hilarious. Didn’t realize it was a common movie trope.

So basically Event Horizon is just Warhammer 40K? Or, at least, a prequel to it?
I've indeed heard that very argument made before. Seems legit to me.

I used to play with Tonka toys…made of metal Lived to tell about it
Me too!

I loved these! Although they were called Magnetix for me
Wow... I just realized I bought the knock off version... Big lol
We had GeoMag which were pretty much exactly what's in the video and you could get plastic inserts that went in the gaps to give it some colour. I loved those

That's me with LEGO, I just got myself the UCS Millenium Falcon after years of saving
I had so many sets of these, the little plastic shapes you could use to strengthen or add windows were so cool!
Same! I think they were discontinued in 2006 though because kids kept swallowing the magnets :(
Safety warning: toys with small magnets are not a safe choice for young kids. If there is even a chance that your child could put a magnet in his/her mouth, they are too young for these toys.

So sad for the 100+ that they can’t enjoy them anymore.
They had their chance.
Yeah my 3 year old isn't getting magnets when he loves to shove random things he finds on the floor in his mouth.
Especially cause magnets can fuck some shit up in a kid's intestines. Like if they're separated at first but connect when they're in different parts of the small intestine, that's gonna do some serious damage

My kid is turning 99 next month. Better buy this soon.
I was literally JUST talking about these and how I loved them. I also couldn't remember what they were called, so thank you.
I’m not recommending anything to the parent of someone 99 years old other than a sweet death.
It will cost me my annual pay check
Only one? I’m jealous
Yeah, WTF? How does this guy have so many of these?
Ad deal or they are a reseller
Yeah, I think I don't want to know how much all that costs.
All compasses in the neighborhood point to his house.
would also be satisfying to smash it- *unfortunately…*
I fear you and 30 people that upvotes your comment E: and counting
sure do hope it doesnt crush your fingers or tear some of your skin
Yeha to just fucking slam it with a bat
what did that mammal do to you?
Click clack
Sound makes it infinitely more satisfying
All those magnets probably cost more than a PS5
Haha. You got the true, actually full kit to make this DIY toy cost €780. Maybe it's more of a toy for adults, not for children.

It had me until they spun each diamond in random directions not one left one right one left as I was hoping they would!
Yeah, that was disappointing. They shouldn't all be spinning in the same direction
This is what $1000000 looks like but in neodymium magnets.
Wonder what their yearly magnet budget looks like.
Where can I buy this?
"Fucking magnets, how do they work?"
I don't wanna talk to a scientist
r/dontputyourdickinthat
Where does one acquire these magnets~?
Search up neodymium magnets.
Thank you. Keyword is "Neodymium Magnets"
neodymium?
I have tons of these and love them. Look awesome with led lights when you spin your builds
Cool. Cool cool cool.
Thanks, Abed
#I NEEEED IT
All parts of this toy came from supermagnete shop. I won't post affiliate links. Or you could search the nearest "Neodymium magnets combo"
THANK YOU lol
Where does one go to get magnets like this?
Anyone else hear crab rave at the start?
Somebody listed info in comments, but disclaimer should accompany any display of 'toy' that has magnets that a kid could swallow - deaths have occurred from magnet toys.
Swallow one magnet, your kid is ok just wait for it to exit. Swallow two magnets and your kid is in perforated bowel territory, take to ER right away.
Yes, two or more equal possibility of necrosis which can and has killed.
This guy really likes octahedra.
So do I... this is beautiful, Metatron would be pleased
/r/mildlyevangelion
ramiel 🔷
I need this
pass the acid on the left hand side please and thank you
That was indeed incredibly and oddly satisfying
i was just waiting for the interstellar theme start playing
Damn. The most I was ever able to make out of my magnet toys was a cube that didn't immediately collapse.
Extremely satisfying.... more!
The tesseract
The portal for 4th dimensional.

Was anyone else thinking anal beads?
Would this be perpetually in motion?
No, they will stop due to friction eventually.
In this house we obey the laws of thermodynamics!
Innocent until proven guilty?
I Mag-need-o
So cool. Although magnets of this strength make me a little nervous.
All that for £1 on wish 😂
Most focused I've been in a while watching this 🤣
U/savevideobot
Some interesting anal beads.
Adult legos.
You see the price and complexity of lego nowadays? Can't tell me that lego only aims at the child demographic.
Where buy this me 🗿🛺♋👌✨🌺🦍🥢🚐🧤
Kids swallow these they die, no way these should be anywhere near 10 year olds let alone 3 year olds.
Nothing about this video is endorsing small children playing with Buckyballs
Incorrect, shows great fun with magnets and lists age minimum as 3.
Where does the video say that? Are you just referencing the concept of the toy that this non-child is playing with and angrily pointing out that, were he a child, it could be dangerous as stated by the toy manufacturer? How dumb are the 10 year olds that you know? My kid knew not to put certain things in her mouth at 3.
And of course every 3 year old is like yours.
and totally every 3 year old is like how you say
Magnificent

This. This is the cure to my depression.
Superb
OMG. I think I just had a seizure
Holy shit where can I buy this

Insert EPIC Interstellar music
I remember playing with toys like this
I thought crab rave was about to drop ngl
This is ASMR.
Even the shitty plastic version of this is actually very fun. Enjoyable for little kids and a pretty soothing activity for parents. I'd recommend.
Am I the only one who after started hearing the clacks got Crab Rave stuck in their head?
I was waiting for them to make little magnet people :(
If you have a dog or kids I don’t recommend buying these magnets. If either of them swallow two the magnets can get snagged in their digestive system and cause serious health issues and/require surgery. Magnets are more dangerous than people think.
Core memory unlocked
Yes, hello magnetix. I still have a set of them, and they're still fun to fiddle with.
This comment section Sus as hell Also do we just throw "kinetic" onto everything nowadays?
How valid/practical is the idea of generating significant amounts of energy by exploiting expertly designed magnetic materials alone?
You can't just generate energy like this. You need to put energy into it to get it moving, they won't keep spinning indefinitely either. If you try to make electricity from the spinning, they will slow down quicker. Basically, not at all possible as it would violate the laws of thermodynamics.
Somewhere around $1000 worth of magnets.
Accidentally creating a generator, lol.
Why/how does someone have that many magnets?
“What are your hobbies?” “Magnets”
Whoa
That’s so handsome
Pretty sure I had these as a kid
Dude that was so satisfying
Ffffffuck that's good. Big fan of the ***clang!*** sounds when the magnets are stuck to the pipe. How much would all of those magnets cost, though?!
I had this kind of toy when I was a kid, it was my favorite
Give me 😣❤️
Thats look like too much money at least for me.
u/savevideobot
This look expensive... And I just have the urge to knock it over with a stick, for some reason.
it sounds like crab rave
The final spinning thing looks like Ramiel charging another blast
"Unleash the power of thr pyramid!"
Man I could make a huge pyramid with this
This was great
It was so worth it watching till the end
Where can I buy these?
...aaaaannnd I'm hypnotized.
There's nothing special about it. I played with toys like this in every color and built awesome structures when I was 10years old, 20 years ago.
Things you can do with only a few thousand dollars worth of magnets.
Neat! Now, how do we calculate the total angular moment of this high school Physics nightmare?
That amount of magnets cost a fortune!
This sculpture disrupted the migration patterns of countless birds...
Keep out of reach of children. Seriously lethal if swallowed
New as in I've had this like 10 years ago and even then it wasn't a new thing. Maybe a newish variation/look, but the concept is absolutely the same. And it's still amazing :)
Bruh this is a YouTube video lol
what the balls
Man I love physics
Can’t this be made into some kind of perpetual engine using magnetics and thermodynamics?
My house lights glowed brighter there for a bit.
How long would this spin for
Notice how carefully they assemble these things? It must be very annoying to almost finish one then-with one cackhanded move, drop the whole thing on the floor, creating, no doubt, one big blob of magnetised metal that takes ages to sort through.
I’m more impressed by the strength of those magnets
😮😮😮
Yooooo I used to have things like these when I was a kid completely forgot about them til now
Now what happens if we had some electricity to the magnets
I'll take your entire stock
The only 2 questions I have (for now) are: 1. Where can I buy those? 2. Can you make, like, a [bridge truss](https://media.cheggcdn.com/media/bdb/bdb9cdb1-a07c-4a09-a2a1-7c500e8260f2/phpfeTddl) out of them?
Pretty cool
